The Cunning Michael Jones

"Well, Dad believes you. I'll talk to your mother about it. Come home for dinner this weekend. Your mother is very worried about you, she could not eat and sleep properly because of this."

Ava's heart felt heavy because of her father's words. She knew that her mother was angry at her because she had high hopes for Ava but she loved her the most. In this world, only her parents will always love her unconditionally.

"I know Dad. Thank you. It's late. I should go back to the hospital. I'll see you another day." Ava got up from the sofa and said with a smile.

"OK, be safe."

After getting out of the company Ava didn't go back to the hospital, instead, she went to Jones's house. She needed to examine Michael Jones today. Ava came to the given address and a very luxurious castle-like house came into her view, in big words the name of the house 'Historian' was written in golden color on the gate. The two sides of the house were surrounded by large Cryptomeria japonica trees. It looked very beautiful, Ava sighed in her heart thinking the life of rich people was wonderful.

"Hello, who are you looking for, please?" A little maid came out and greeted her.

"Hello, I'm Mr. Jones's private doctor, Ava Green," Ava said politely.

"Yes, Dr. Green. Mr. Jones is waiting for you, please come with me." The little maid said and she led her to Michael Jones's bedroom directly.

Ava stood in front of the bedroom door and knocked lightly.

"Come in." There was a strong voice from inside.

Ava walked inside gracefully carrying her medical bag.

When Michael saw Ava he stood up from the sofa with a smile, "Doctor Green you are here."

"Yes Mr. Jones, I came to do your checkup. How are you feeling these days, any chest pain?"

"No, other than the fact that I'm always tired, I am actually fine."

After a series of examinations, Ava said: "Mr. Jones, you have been recuperating very well, your surgery wound has already healed, and your heart rate is also normal. Everything looks good."

"Thank you, Dr. Green." He said with a polite smile.

"OK Mr. Jones, Keep resting don't stress too much or tire yourself with anything. It's better to take a walk in the morning or evening but please don't overdo it. You will be fine. I'll come next week to check your improvement, ok!" Ava quickly packed her things intending to leave.

"Dr. Green, let's have a cup of tea together. The tea is ready." Michael said in a warm and polite smile.

Ava looked in the direction of the tea table where a man was standing with two cups and a hot pot of tea in his hand. The hot tea was still steaming.

"OK! Thank you, Mr. Jones." Ava said politely. She thought it would be rude to refuse him.

"Dr. Green, do you have a boyfriend?" Michael suddenly asked with a smile, but his cunning eyes were focused on Ava observing her every reaction.

Ava quickly put down the teacup and answered seriously, "No, I don't."

"How about I introduce you to someone?" He asked cautiously.

"Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Jones. But no, I don't want to date at this moment." Ava declined. She found it a bit weird that Michael Jones wanted to introduce her to someone.

"My nephew, Oliver, have you met him?" Michael also put down the cup.

Ava looked at Michael with knitted eyebrows, what was he doing? Why was he asking about Oliver? Does he want to introduce her to Oliver?

"Yes, he came to visit you at the hospital," Ava said truthfully but she was a bit worried about Michael's true intention.

"He is a nice guy although he looks very cold on the surface but he has a heart of gold. If you would like, I could introduce you to him." He said smiling.

Ava almost held her breath with tension, she shook her head and said in a low voice, "Mr. Jones, I really appreciate but that's not necessary."

"OK, what do you think of my son Liam?" Michael's sharp eyes once again looked at Ava trying to see through her.

"Well, he's a nice young man and a complete gentleman." Ava couldn't think of any other words to praise Liam. She only met him 3 times for few minutes she didn't know him at all but she did have a good impression of him.

"Would you like to date Liam?" He asked directly in a very serious tone.

Ava was almost choked on her tea. What the hell! What was he trying to do? First Oliver then Liam. Didn't she already say that she didn't want to date at this moment? If Oliver found out that his uncle was trying to fix her with his cousin then god knows what he will do.

"Mr. Jones, I really appreciate that you think so highly of me, but at this moment I really don't want to date anyone. Besides, I don't like to force relationships. I believe if two person clicks, things will eventually fall into place?" Ava thought for a while before answering Michael. She didn't know how else she could make it clear to him.

Of course, Michael knew that Ava would refuse. After all, Ava was Oliver's woman. Nine out of ten women would choose Liam over Oliver but she chose Oliver. Michael got the feeling that Ava was not that simple, it will be difficult to manipulate her.

"Dr. Green, Please don't misunderstand me, I was asking all these questions because I was trying to understand you. My son told me he had a good impression of you and wanted to pursue you, I just hope Dr. Green could give him a chance. Don't just refuse him directly. Even if it's to give me some face ok?" He said with a faint smile.

Ava was even more embarrassed now, if he asked so directly how would she refuse but she could not agree either.

"Mr. Jones, I have to go back to the hospital. I'll see you next week. Have a good day." Ava stood up and quickly left his house, afraid that he would stop her again.

Suddenly Ava felt a bit anxious, why Michael Jones was trying to fix her with his son? Was he really serious or did he already know about her and Oliver and was trying to test her?
