Dinner with the Anderson's

Ava was disgusted, she tried very hard to hold back her urge to vomit. she didn't know what to do with this man. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself.

"Mr. Jones..."

"Ava will you please stop calling me Mr. Jones, it sounds like you are calling my dad, besides we are friends now so we can call each other by the first name." Liam suddenly interrupted Ava and took the chance to subtly change the way to address her.

What! Since when they became friends? But he did have a point and it did sound like she was calling his father. "OK, so Liam can I ask you something?

"Sure, whatever you like."

"You were aware that I was turning you down for dinner because I didn't want to go with you, then why you kept insisting to have dinner with me?" Ava asked curiously.

With a charming smile Liam looked at her, "Isn't it obvious? I like you and I wanted to chase you."

Ava pursed her lips and stared at him with wide eyes then asked angrily. "Are you making fun of me?"

"No, why would you say that? What I am saying is true. If I didn't like you then why would I keep inviting you again and again even after you turned me down every time so cruelly?" Liam said with a smile but his face was serious and calm.

Although Liam said it very seriously but Ava didn't believe him. In fact, his confession made Ava confused, if Liam already knew she was in a live-in relationship with Oliver then how could he say that he liked her and wanted to chase her. What kind of person do that?

Liam looked at Ava's uncertain face and knew what was on her mind but he didn't explain anything. What he said to her was true, he couldn't stop thinking about her since the day he saved her from the car accident. Her pain striking face made his heart ache that day, he wanted to hold her and comfort her but he didn't do any of that.

Anderson's house.

Anderson house was located in the posh area of the eastern part of the city near the mountains and rivers. The scenery here was beautiful like pictures, and the architectural style of the house was pure oriental with forest and garden.

Oliver had come to Anderson's family more than a hundred times. Anderson's family and Knight's family are very close friends. Oliver's grandparents liked Kiara very much, they thought she was elegant, simple, and a graceful girl. Ella also loved Kiara very much and treated her like her own daughter. Ella knew that Kiara was in love with Oliver for many years and she also wanted Oliver to marry her but because of the tragedy of Oliver's life Ella didn't have the heart to force her son.

"How are you, Uncle Mark and Aunt Lucy?"

"Mom, Dad!"

Oliver and Kiara shouted enthusiastically.

Mark was happy to see Oliver. He liked him very much, in his heart, he regarded Oliver as his son-in-law. Oliver was young and promising, handsome and unrestrained, who wouldn't want such a man to be their son-in-law.

"Come on, children, we were waiting for you, sit down and have a meal," Mark said with a kind smile.

"Uncle Mark, I missed the Dongpo meat that I ate last time, I wonder if Aunt Lucy made it today?" Oliver joked to make the atmosphere light.

"Yes, yes she had prepared it for you. I knew you were coming, Kiara already let me know."

Oliver and Kiara look at each other. Kiara had a sweet smile with a bit of coyness.

The atmosphere at the dinner table was very harmonious. Oliver and the Anderson family have always been getting along well.

"Oliver, I saw the interview at the airport this afternoon. The reporter asked you what's the relationship between you and our Kiara? I want to know that too" Lucy, Kiara's stepmother put down the red wine glass and asked with a solemn smile.

Kiara immediately looked at Lucy, as if to say, what are you doing?

"Aunt Lucy, Kiara, and I are good friends. I always regarded her as my sister." Oliver said honestly. He didn't like to circle around the same topic so today he decided to clear it out. Maybe that will stop Kiara from pestering him anymore.

When Oliver said that, Kiara, Mark, and Lucy's had different expressions on their faces. Everyone thought that Oliver would probably say he liked her, no one expected this answer. Kiara bit her lips and looked at Lucy with hatred in her eyes. Why did her stepmother have to ask this question? As long as Oliver didn't say out loud that he didn't want to marry her she still had a chance. She hated Lucy from the bottom of her heart.

"Mom!" Kiara's tone was full of warning. If Oliver wasn't here, she would never address this woman as a mother. Her mother was killed by this bad woman, how could she call her mom?

"Sorry, I am talking too much again. Oliver why don't you try this steak it's very tasty." Lucy quickly changed the subject to cover up her embarrassment.

"Thank you, auntie." Oliver smiled politely.

"Oliver, I know that you are focusing on your career right now, but it's time for you to think about your marriage. Do you have a girlfriend or someone you like?" Mark asked with a calm face and a smile.

"Not yet."

"Well, what kind of girl do you like tell me, maybe I can introduce you to someone" Mark wanted to understand Oliver's mind that's why he said that on purpose.

"Thank you, Uncle Mark, someone like Kiara, I guess." Oliver's witty answer made everyone satisfied. How could he not know what was on Mark's mind?

Hearing Oliver Kiara's face began to improve, and the atmosphere at the table became harmonious again.

After dinner, Oliver spent some time with Anderson's family. He made an excuse to go to the toilet to call Mrs. Lee and ask her about Ava. However, Mrs. Lee told him Ava dropped by to pick up her phone and then left again. Oliver immediately decided to leave.

"Uncle Mark and Aunt Lucy, Kiara, I'm really sorry. I have an urgent conference call. I have to go now. Thank you for dinner today." Oliver said politely.

"Didn't you say your conference call was at eight? It's only six-thirty." Kiara said in a disappointed tone.

"Yes, but the meeting just preponed so I have to leave immediately people are waiting for me." Oliver smiled helplessly.

"Oliver you are always busy with your work," Kiara said with a grievance.

Mark patted Oliver on the shoulder and said with a kind smile, "A man should be dedicated to his work. Kiara, you can't talk like this."

Kiara pouted and said, "OK Dad, I am sorry. Oliver you can go."

Oliver patted on Kiara's head lovingly before leaving, he knew that will make her anger go away.

Although Kiara was a proud young woman, but in front of Oliver, she was a lovely little sheep who would always obey what Oliver said.
