Ava was surprised to see her mother's call, didn't they see each other this morning?
"Hello, mom?" Ava said with a smile as she nestled in Oliver's arms.
"Ava, where are you?" Lily rubbed her temple and closed her eyes, she had a terrible headache.
"Mom... I'm... outside. Why?"
"Come for dinner tonight."
"OK," Ava said with a smile. Although she was confused why Lily was asking to go to dinner at home but she was still happy.
"Oh, and bring Oliver Knight with you." Saying that Lily hung up without giving Ava any chance to refuse.
Ava was stunned. What? Oliver? How did her mother find out? It must be Ethan's doing, that scoundrel told her parents. Crap! What would she do now? Ava felt depressed.
Oliver looked at Ava and saw her pale face he asked worriedly "Ava, what's the matter?"
"Well, my mother invited us for dinner tonight," Ava told Oliver hesitantly. They were official but she didn't know if Oliver was ready to meet her parents.
"Us? Really? So my mother-in-law want's to meet her son-in-law?" Oliver said happily, not worried at all.
He thought that's actually great if he gets to meet Ava's parents, then he could take Ava to see his parents too. Oliver was sure Ella and Conner would love Ava.
Seeing Oliver's happy expression Ava was somewhat relieved but she knew her mother. Lily might not be happy to meet him so she decided to warn him. "Oliver, this meeting might not be something pleasant. I don't know how my mother is going to react to see you, she is a strong and domineering woman. She might say something that you won't like." Now Ava felt really worried.
"It's OK. Don't worry. I'm so charming that my mother-in-law will love me." Oliver looked at her confidently. He actually said that to make Ava feel less worried but in his mind, he knew that was not the case.
"Let's go. I'll take you shopping, we have to buy gifts for my parents-in-law." Oliver said and started to drag Ava out of the room.
Ava saw Oliver was happy and confident so she also started to relax. The two of them walked out of the villa hand in hand.
Mrs. Lee came back from the market with vegetables and fruits in hand, she saw them and asked, "Mr. Knight, Miss Green, are you going out?"
"Yes, Mrs. Lee. We won't have dinner tonight at home." Oliver said with a smile.
Mrs. Lee looked at their leaving back and smiled to herself thinking Ava was really powerful to change the cold master to this extent.
Ava and Oliver first went to the shopping mall to buy gifts for James and Lilly. Oliver bought a Jean-Pierre Lepine Indigo Classic Murano Grey pen for James which was a handcrafted pen from France and for Lily Oliver chose a white jade carving buddha Lotus. Both of the items were exclusive but not too expensive. He didn't want to make them feel uncomfortable by giving them something too expensive.
After getting the gifts they went to the supermarket to buy some snacks for Sarah.
Supermarket.
Oliver and Ava pushed a shopping cart through different aisles and Ava kept putting the snacks one by one onto the cart.
Oliver looked at the snack and asked with a smile, "Honey, didn't you come here to buy snacks for Sarah, why are you picking the ones you like?"
"Well, the ones taste good I'll keep them, and the rest I'll give to Sarah," Ava said with a wicked smile.
Oliver shook his head at her childishness. "Eat fewer snacks, it's not healthy."
"Not healthy or you are afraid that I'll get fat," Ava said pouting. Oliver once told her, he didn't like fat women.
Oliver smiled and looked at her. He thought it's ok if she put on some weight, she was too thin. In fact, he would love it if she was more round, it will feel good to cuddle her.
They went to the counter to check out. "Hello, it's 2753 please." The cashier said to Ava.
Ava opened her purse to pay her when Oliver stopped her and asked, "What do you think you are doing?"
Ava looked at Oliver confused, "Paying the bill."
"Why would you pay when I am with you? I'll pay for it." Oliver said in a domineering and firm tone and held Ava's hand to prevent her from taking out her card.
Ava felt a bit embarrassed but didn't argue back. They came out of the supermarket with five bags of snacks which Oliver carried all by himself. Ava tried to convince him to let her carry some bags but he refused straightway.
"Your wrist is not properly healed yet. Just stay by my side." Oliver ordered coldly.
"But my right hand is not hurt, I could at least carry one bag," Ava mumbled.
"No, you don't have to carry any bag but if you are feeling bad for me then you can make it up to me tonight." Oliver said with a mischievous smile.
Ava blushed but didn't say anything. 'Why does he always take the conversation in that direction?'
Aston Martin convertible.
"Oliver, I'm very nervous." Ava bit her lips unconsciously.
"Nervous about what?" Oliver was driving at a steady pace, he asked with a faint smile on his lips. This woman just likes to overthink.
"I'm afraid my parents will embarrass you tonight." Ava was sure her parents would not easily accept Oliver.
Ava's parents always wanted her to find a man whose status was equal with them but Oliver's status was too high for them so naturally James and Lily would find trouble with this relationship.
"Ava, believe me, as long as we really love each other, there is nothing we need to be worried about." Oliver raised his eyebrows and said seriously.
"Oliver Actually... In fact, I always feel that I am not worthy of you. You are so excellent and I am..... " Before Ava could finish her sentence Oliver interrupted her.
"Ava, I forbid you to say that ever again. Love is worthy of everything, besides my parents are very open-minded people. To them, love is more important than any social status. You're just worried for no reason."
"But there is a big gap between us." Ava frowned and felt a bit upset, she was clearly going to see her own parents. Why was she so nervous as if meeting her in-laws?
"If love could be measured by money, then it wouldn't be called love. What's your so-called gap? Family background? Status? Money? Or education?" Oliver understood Ava's concern but how does he make this woman understand that those materialistic things didn't matter to him and neither to his family. He and his family would rather have a poor but kind daughter-in-law who was a good person and has a good character than some rich arrogant heiress.
"All of them, you see, I couldn't match with you in terms of anything," Ava said in a low voice lowering her head.
Oliver was a god-like existence in Ava's heart, she truly believed they didn't match each other at this moment. She just hoped one day she would become as excellent as Oliver so she could stand beside him proudly.
