The next morning.
Ava woke up and felt a splitting headache. She opened her eyes and found herself in an unfamiliar room. She tried to remember why she was here but couldn't. Ava turned her head and her face got pale seeing a man sleeping beside her. She almost jumped out of the bed in fear when she realized it was Sam beside her and the more frightening thing was they both were naked on the bed.
Ava's rapid movement woke Sam up. He was tired all night, but he didn't sleep, it was during the morning he let his eyes rest for a while.
"Sam! What did you do to me?" Ava tightly wrapped the quilt and curled up on the corner of the bed leaving as much space as possible between them. Tears came out from her beautiful eyes like small pearls.
"Ava, don't look at me like that. Don't you remember what happened last night? You came onto me and I couldn't turn you down so things went further." Sam said looking at her with red eyes. He could tell from her reaction that she was disgusted to know what happened between them. Seeing that he felt pain in his heart.
Ava stared at him motionless, tears were running down from her eyes in agony. She tried to recall what happened last night and suddenly some broken piece of memory flashed into her mind of kissing Sam and taking off her clothes. That's when she lost it completely, she started to cry hysterically as if something just broke in her, as if she had lost everything just in one night.
Shame, agony, guilt, anger, grievance all the emotion was making her feel numb. How did she do that, how could she sleep with Sam when she was in a relationship with Oliver, how did she betray him like that? Ava hated herself at that moment.
Sam couldn't see her like that anymore his own eyes were stinging looking at her agony. To comfort her he tried to reach out but Ava immediately moved far in the corner. Seeing her reaction Sam felt very sad but he didn't let her see that, instead he stayed in place and said to her calmly, "Ava come down. What's done is done we cannot change anything but I am not a coward I will take full responsibility for you."
Ava closed her eyes painfully and collected herself, when she opened them again they looked lifeless, she didn't look at Sam, she looked at the distance and said in a low voice, "Sam, we are all adults. There is no need to take responsibility for anything. Please don't ever mention that to me again just pretend nothing happened between us."
Nothing happened!!! Sam felt a sharp pain on his chest hearing her cold tone and looking at her lifeless eyes. Did he make a mistake last night? Sam put his hand on his chest and with a forced smile he said, "OK."
Ava needed to get out of there as soon as possible so she looked around for her clothes and found them on the floor. Looking at her clothes lying on the floor like that her eyes were stung and she wanted to cry some more but no tears came out. She stood up wrapped the quilt tightly around her, picked up the clothes and without any word went to the bathroom. Ava quickly put on the clothes and washed her face than she looked in the mirror and the woman who was staring back at her looked ugly and dirty to her.
Suddenly her eyes fell on the blood-red mark on her neck. She quickly picked up a wet towel and wiped her neck harshly intending to wipe it clean from there but her harsh rubbing only made it look more vibrant and her whole neck turned red. She stopped rubbing her skin and looked in the mirror, she looked like a crazy woman with messy hair, lost heart, and empty eyes. She suddenly started to scream like crazy.
Sam was waiting in the room for Ava, hearing her scream he rushed toward the bathroom worriedly. He turned the doorknob and found it was locked. He banged on the door loudly and said, "Ava are you alright? Please open the door!"
Hearing the loud bangs on the door, Ava felt more frightened. She squatted down on the floor and sat there curled up. The memory of her kissing Sam was killing her from inside, she had only one thing in her mind she betrayed Oliver, the man who loved her so much, took care of her every single thing even when he was away, the man she loved with all her heart she betrayed him. She felt very dirty.
Sam kept banging on the door, he was really afraid that Ava would do something to herself, he started to shout, "Ava, will you please open the door? Ava! Ava! Ava if you don't open it, I'll break it." Sam threaten.
"Don't! I am opening it."
Ava got up and with unsteady steps, she slowly opened the door.
When Sam saw Ava's crazy appearance, he panicked and held her in his arm, "Ava, what are you doing, please don't hurt yourself...please. It's all my fault, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you hit me, scold me, hate me but please don't hurt yourself because of me."
Ava did not move, she did not even struggle, she just let Sam hold her and listened to his sad sob.
Sam never had cried like that before, he regrets it now. Ava was not sad, she was lost, if he knew before this would happen, he would not do this to her. He felt bitter and heartbroken.
After what felt like a long time, Ava gently pushed him away and said in a lifeless voice, "It's ok Sam! It was not your fault. I did all that, it's all my fault."
