The Humiliation

Ava stayed rooted on the sofa with an embarrassed face and wished she could dig a hole and bury herself inside. She looked at Liam with resentment in her eyes, and asked angrily, "Why didn't you tell me before you were bringing me to Oliver's grandfather's birthday party?"

"If I told you, would you agree to come with me?" Liam's eyes flashed a touch of an evil smile.

"Liam, you are so mean." Ava's face was very unsightly at that moment. Even the makeup couldn't cover her pale face.

"Why do you care? Are you still in love with him?" Liam asked thoughtfully, although he already knew the answer.

Liam intentionally brought Ava with him here tonight and insisted to put this seductive dress on her. Liam wanted to cause a drama here, he knew Oliver's character too well to know that seeing Ava in such sexy attire Oliver will definitely lose his mind and cause drama at the party. Today many big and reputed people came here and this drama will cost a lot to the Knight's reputation and that's exactly what his plan was. It's a pity that in all this Ava will have to suffer.

"I am not!" Ava said lightly, lowering her head.

"Then there is no problem. You don't have to be afraid of anything." Liam reached out and held Ava's hand and he was very surprised to see her hand was as cold as ice.

Liam frowned but before he could say anything Ava stood up and said, "I am going to use the restroom."

At that time, Charles walked toward them followed by Elizabeth, Oliver, Kiara, Erika, Conner, and Ella. Kiara was holding Charles's arm and looking at Ava with an amusing face. Ava didn't want to stay there but since they were coming their way she couldn't just leave, that would be very rude so she just stood there awkwardly.

"Liam, is she your companion? How come I've never seen her before?" Kiara saw Oliver didn't even look at Ava, she took the chance to mock her.

Liam stood up and said with a gentle smile, "yes, my girlfriend." Saying that Liam held Ava's waist intimately.

Oliver looked at them indifferently, he already expected this so he didn't react at all neither he said anything.

Erika looked both at Liam and Oliver, who were looking at each other with an intense gaze. It looked like they were declaring war on each other. The atmosphere suddenly became very tense around them making people feel suffocated. Oliver's whole body exuded a cold aura and his eyes looked sinister. Ava got a little scared looking at Oliver's fierce expression, so she lowered her head in embarrassment.

"Brother, since when you started to like such a cheap woman?" Oliver turned his eyes to Ava and said sarcastically.

The word "brother" was obviously full of hostility. Everyone that knew them already was aware that Liam and Oliver never got along so this hostility was normal to them. Oliver's blood was boiling seeing Ava in a low-cut chest dress. How dare she come here dressing like that? Looks like he has to teach her a lesson.

Ava heard Oliver call her cheap she felt very hurt, she knew he said that because of the way she has dressed but she didn't choose it. In fact, she refused to wear this dress but the designer and Liam insisted, so what could she do? However, she didn't say anything she just kept her head lowered. Oliver has always been humiliating her so it was nothing new but still she was hurt that he used such a word for her in front of his family.

"What are you saying, Brother! I think she is very good. After all, we've always had the same taste." Liam said with a meaningful smile. Seeing Oliver suffering like that Liam felt satisfaction in his heart.

"I think your taste changed, it's much worse than that. I don't like this kind of woman, she looks like came from a red-light district." Oliver's vicious mouth was merciless. Every word was like a sword blade, stabbing Ava's heart.

Ava closed her eyes, her red lips trembled, and her legs were shaking. She didn't know if she could take any more humiliation.

"Oliver! Apologize to Miss Green. What you just said was a bit too much." Ella couldn't hear this anymore. She looked at Charles and saw his face was not looking good. She quickly said to Oliver.

"Why would I apologize? Did I say something wrong?" Oliver said staring at Ava.

"Oliver!" Charles said with a stern and angry voice.

"Grandpa, don't be angry. Today is your birthday. Let's go and greet the other guests." Erika hurriedly stepped forward and held Charles's hand.

"Yes, Grandpa, your guests are waiting for you." Kiara also chirped in smartly.

However, Charles looked at Ava apologetically and said softly, "Miss Green, I'm really sorry about my grandson. I'll talk to him later and discipline him."

Ava smiled awkwardly and said lightly: "Grandpa, it's OK. I didn't take it to heart. I know Mr. Knight was just joking. "

"What kind of joke was that?" Liam added with a sullen face.

"A joke is a joke, why do you have to take it so seriously?" Kiara looked at Ava with hostile eyes and said proudly. She was very happy to see Ava getting humiliated in from of so many people and more importantly it was Oliver who was insulting her mercilessly. So she was sure Oliver and Ava were done with each other this time.

Charles seemed to understand something in a flash by looking at all of them. He was not a fool but he didn't say anything instead, he gave them a meaningful look and pulled Elizabeth away.

Conner and Ella also left after Charles, leaving Oliver standing in front of Ava with a cold face. Oliver stared at her without saying a word as if trying to see through her mind. After a while, he turned and left.

With the melodious music, the dinner party officially began. The band played a classic "Jasmine" to celebrate Charles Knight's birthday. Charles and others went on stage and said a few words. Then, the dance began. According to the tradition, Oliver and Kiara lead the dance. They have been dancing together since childhood, so there was no problem in coordination.
