The secret revealed

Ava stood at the door and looked inside, the first thing that came into Ava's view was a huge pink princess bed. The furnishings of the room didn't look anything extraordinary in fact it was like some other room in the villa. However, Ava was surprised to see the violin in the crystal box beside the bed. Ava wondered why Oliver moved it from the bedroom to this room. Ava took a deep breath and slowly entered the room. But the moment she stepped inside the room, her eyes fell on a wall that was full of pictures, the face on those pictures was very familiar to Ava, it was Melody.

Ava was puzzled and there was a panic in her hazel eyes, why Oliver has Melody's pictures here? All the pictures were from when she was 17 or 18 years old. The pictures were taken in different places. Some were taken on the school ground, some were on the school lavender field, supermarket, mall, and streets. Melody was always smiling in those pictures, sometimes playing her violin attentively with closed eyes. Ava's face turned pale and her breath seemed to be stopped as she stared at the picture for a long time.

Ava didn't even know when tears started to flow from her eyes, when she saw a blur in front of her eyes she closed her eyes in pain and turned away from the wall. It was not difficult for her to connect the dots. Ava looked around and found a wall-mounted cabinet in the room, she slowly walked to the cabinet and opened it. She found some old clothes, books, stationary and an old violin in side the cabinet, everything was kept neatly in order. All were familiar to her, she knew well who those belonged to.

Ava opened the cabinet drawer and found some files and journals lying there along with many wrapped small gifts. Ava's eyes fell on a star brooch on one of the boxes, she took it out and looked carefully, seeing it she remembered the deer brooch Oliver bought for her from the US last year. It was the same style, she could tell this one was bought from the same place. That meant Oliver bought them together. Ava closed her eyes in despair then put the brooch back in the box and took out the blue journals and slowly walked to the princess bed and sat down.

Ava already knew in her heart what was this all about, it was not difficult to connect the dots but her naïve heart didn't want to believe it. Tears kept falling as she slowly opened the blue journal in her hand.

It was Oliver's handwriting; it was more like notes than a journal.

The world is so small, never imagined I would meet her in the game again. I found out her name today, it's Melody. I love it.

November 21, 2013.

Today, I flew back to the city just to meet Melody. This was our first official meeting. She was so beautiful even more than the first time I saw her at the square playing the violin. She played for me today, it was beautiful. I felt like I could listen to her music all day long.

I think I fell in love with Melody. I have never seen someone so pure and innocent before. She captured my heart at the first look. We are meeting again once I go back for the winter vacation. I can't wait to see you, Mel.

Finally, the wait is over, she is about to sit for the college entrance exam. Tomorrow I am going back to Beijing, I can't live without you anymore babe, I have waited a long time for you to grow up. Ava felt numb reading all these, she turned the last page of the diary and saw his last entry was 2 days before their accident. Hot tears kept falling from Ava's eyes like a river, she felt suffocated as if someone just stabbed her with a sharp knife. She couldn't breathe.

So it was Oliver, who was Melody's boyfriend. They were on their way to meet him on the day of their accident. Oh, Mel why didn't you tell me before? If you did I would never fall for him. Ava started to cry loudly. She couldn't hold it anymore.

Ava's whole world felt like fell apart at that moment. She sat there feeling numb in her heart and kept crying, she looked up and saw the crystal box in front of her. Suddenly something occurred to her she quickly stood up and got the Axe, then she smashed the crystal box and took out the violin from inside. Ava turned the violin over and as she expected there was a name engraved at the bottom of the Violin in bold letters, 'MELODY PARKER.
