Oliver's Villa.
Oliver was seating in the leaving room with Orion when his phone made a notification noise. Oliver took it out and saw that it was Erika who sent him a few pictures. Oliver opened the folder and saw there were actually a lot of pictures. The first few were of hers and a few were with Ava and the last few pictures were only of Ava.
Ava was wearing a pale red fitted knee-length casual dress. From the angle, she looked tall and slim and her long brown waves fell on her back making her look sexy and beautiful. Ava was either talking or laughing or was occupied with something in the photos. Like, in some photos she was having a meal, some she was looking outside the window of the restaurant they were sitting and some were checking out baby clothes. Oliver also noticed that Ava was checking out boy clothes, so he wondered for whom she was picking up those clothes.
A few minutes after Oliver opened the picture folder he received a text message from Erika. 'Am I not an amaging sister? Shouldn't my brother send me a huge red envelope?'
Oliver smiled and immediately sent a ten-cent red envelope to Erika.
Erika was standing outside Oliver's Villa at the moment. She excitedly opened the red envelope and when saw that there was only ten-cent her face turn green in anger. She rushed into the villa and complained, "Elder brother, when have you become so stinky? I have sent so many beautiful pictures to you and that's how you pay me back?"
"Aren't you my little sister, why would I have to pay you for this? Isn't my affection more important than money?"
Erika was speechless, "But I want a reward from you for taking those lovely pictures."
"What reward? Did I ask you for those pictures? Oliver said arrogantly.
"Brother! You are unbelievable. Aren't you the one who send me to see her and put some good words for you? Now that you crossed the river, you want to burn the bridge"
Orion was seating beside his father and watching his aunt throwing a tantrum, he quickly said to calm her aunt, "Aunt Rika, don't be so angry. Are you here to play with Orion?"
"Orion!! My baby, how about you come with me and stay at my place tonight? Your father is so stingy; we don't want you to be like him now, do we?" Erika joked.
"What are you talking about Aunt Rika? Dad is not like that and I love him, besides if I go with you Orion will miss dad."
Oliver looked at his son with a smile on his face. How sweet, looks like his little boy still has a little conscience.
Erika pouted and then said excitedly, "Orion, I heard you found a great piano teacher. Did you learn anything recently? Play it to me."
"Sure, Miss Mackie just taught me a new tune I will play it for you." Orion jumped and excitedly sat on the piano bench. He loved to play piano and would be very happy whenever he played any tune. Maybe it was more because Oliver always encouraged him to play and listen very attentively when he played, so Orion always learned very carefully and seriously.
Erika handed the children's clothing bags to Oliver and said with a smile, "Sister-in-law picked them up for Orion and asked me to send them to him since she won't be here until next Wednesday."
Oliver took the bags from Erika with a straight face and peeked inside, those were the clothes Ava was checking on the pictures that Erika took. His face stayed unreadable but he said in a low voice, "Thank you."
Orion started to play and instantly the quiet villa boomed with soothing music making the atmosphere peaceful and warm. Oliver stared at his little boy and recalled the past. The day Orion was born, Oliver was pacing back and forth in the cold corridor of the hospital. The doctor came to him and said, "CEO Knight, I am afraid the child has been diagnosed with congenital heart disease, there is only a 15% chance that he will survive after surgery and will have a full recovery. However the baby had pre-mature birth so for such a small baby, if we perform the surgery there is a high rate of failure. Only a few surgeons are capable of performing such surgery with great success. Unfortunately Dr. Green could have done it but her condition is not very good at this moment, therefore I would like to suggest, you take the boy to Switzerland. There are many experts who have experience in cases like this. He might have a chance in there."
Oliver closed his eyes in despair, Dr. Green! How he was going to ask her to operate on her own child? Oliver opened his dark eyes which were emotionless but his heart was hurting for both his son and his wife who was unconscious in the other room. Oliver asked in a low voice, "How likely for the child to survive if he goes to Switzerland for treatment?"
"Well, only the experts will be able to say it correctly but assume there is about a 20% chance of a successful operation and a full recovery. But if you decide to take him to Switzerland I would like to advise you to do it now, don't waste any more time. The more time you will wait the more complicated his condition will get."
Oliver went in front of the ICU and looked at the little life in the incubator who was barely breathing and was attached to various tubes, it was his and Ava's miracle, their son. Their son was a fighter, It was a miracle how he survived and was born after going through such an accident. Since his son didn't give up, he was also not going to give up on him. Oliver immediately contacted the renowned child specialist from Switzerland, explained the situation, and sent him there with Uncle Joe.
Oliver wanted to tell Ava about their son's condition but he was afraid she will collapse if she found out now. Her attending doctor already told him Ava's mental condition was not stable at the moment, she needs time to recover. Oliver also understood that finding out about his past like this must have been a shock for her. He needed to explain everything to her. So he decided to tell her about their son once she recovered and also once their son's condition was stable. Another reason he didn't tell her was because he didn't want to give her hope and then take it away. Even the experts from Switzerland were not very hopeful about their son's condition. So Oliver bared the burden and tried to support Ava as much as he could. When Ava went through depression because of the child he almost told her that the child was alive but at that moment the child's condition got worse and doctors said he wouldn't survive so Oliver never told Ava. Later when the child's condition stabilized it was already late and Ava had run away.
Oliver was crushed by Ava's action and only then he realized what he has lost. He should have told her, maybe she wouldn't leave if she knew. But then again Oliver was a proud man he didn't want to bind Ava like this so he decided to give her space and kept waiting for her to come back. While their son was recovering in Switzerland, this was the reason Oliver would often fly to Switzerland. The child went through a series of treatments for a whole year before he completely recovered and Oliver bought him back to China when he was a little over one year. Oliver named the child Orion, like the stars. He was the star of his life, his light, and the reason for him to go on.
Oliver didn't tell anyone that Orion was his and Ava's child because he wanted to tell Ava first so he lied about Oron's origin. It was only Uncle Joe who knew Orion was actually a Knight, others might suspect but no one knows for sure. Oliver kept counting the days and finally, Ava came back, however, what he didn't expect was she would marry another man. She not only crushed his pride she also crushed his heart.
Oliver could use Orion as a trump card to bring back Ava but he was not that Oliver anymore, he could still be cruel to everyone but he couldn't be cruel to Ava. Besides, he didn't want to force her or make her feel guilty, he wants her to come back willingly. However, knowing that stubborn woman, he also knew she wouldn't come back just like that if he didn't put out a little effort.
