Ava stayed silent for a while thinking, how could he say he never wronged her? He wronged her by hiding his past about Melody, he wronged her by having an affair with Emily and then always having an ambiguous relationship with Kiara. Thinking about Kiara Ava suddenly remembered the other day when Kiara burst into Oliver's apartment. Ava still couldn't fully trust Oliver so she didn't know whether she should believe anything he said but she was also aware that if she didn't try then she would never be able to get passes what happened three years ago. "If I ask will you tell me the truth about your past relationship?"
Oliver stared at Ava thinking when did he ever lie to her? She never trusted him, he felt sad at that thought. Although Oliver was displeased but he still looked at Ava and said sincerely, "Ava, I know you don't trust me, but I promise I have never lied to you and never will. Please give me a chance to clarify any misunderstanding you have in your heart. Don't just assume things by yourselves."
Ava bit her lips and then asked, "Then will you tell me what's your relationship with Kiara now? And please don't say 'friends', because the way she burst into your apartment the other day it surely didn't look like you two were just friends!"
Oliver knew his relationship with Kiara would bite him in his back, now how he was going to explain it? He really didn't have any relationship with Kiara. Oliver thought of making the situation light as it really was. He smiled and asked playfully, "Are you jealous?"
Ava wanted to scowl at him but instead, she smiled and said, "Jealous? Why would I be jealous Oliver? If you really love her, you are free to go to her anytime, but make sure to sign the divorce papers this time and I am getting Orion's custody. "
Oliver was speechless and his heart felt bitter. She still talks about divorcing him, I guess it wasn't a good time to make jokes when she didn't really trust him. Oliver sighed and said, "I don't have any kind of feelings for any women but you. I have made it clear to Kiara many times that I don't like her romantically but she keeps being persistent. I could not cut her off from my life because of our family relationship and also…"Oliver paused thinking about how to say it without offending Ava.
"And also?…. " Ava asked with furrowed eyebrows, she suddenly had a feeling she wouldn't like what Oliver was about to say.
Oliver looked at her and said with a guilty look, "After I brought Orion into the town, I had a hard time looking after him, I was always busy with work and couldn't give him much time. Kiara helped me to look after Orion at that time, they got along really well so afterward, Kiara asked me if she could be his godmother. I didn't know when you are going to come back, and if you are even going to come back, so I agreed. She was close to anything motherly love Orion could get at that point and I thought she will be a good influence on him. I did what I thought was good for him at that time."
Ava didn't know how to react, Kiara, her son's godmother? Out of all people it had to be her! Ava closed her eyes in agony as two strings of tears fell from her eyes. she didn't know who to blame, herself or Oliver! If she didn't leave, Kiara would never get close to Orion but that wasn't what hurt her the most. What was tearing her heart apart was the fact that she wasn't there when her son needed her, instead it was Kiara, the motherly love she was supposed to give her son was given by another woman because she ran away. How she was going to forgive herself for that? She still felt angry at Oliver for allowing Kiara to be his godmother knowing how much she hated her.
Oliver felt stressed when he saw her crying. He knew this would hurt her, yet he did it. Maybe he did it on purpose because he was angry at Ava for leaving him so maybe he wanted to hurt her but now that he saw the agony in her, he felt a great sense of remorse. He held her and said lightly, "I am sorry Ava! I am really sorry." However, she didn't reply or say anything she just wept silently. Oliver also didn't know what to do so he just held her and let her cry.
After a while, Ava stopped and lay there in Oliver's arms. She knew there was no point in crying over something she won't be able to change, so she decided to let it go. Since her son was alright and Kiara did actually look after him when it should have been her, she won't hold any grudges against her. And as for Oliver, she did leave him, although she didn't know about Orion at that time so she will let this go this time.
Oliver felt Ava quiet down, he stroked her hair gently and asked in a soft voice, "Feeling Better?" Ava still didn't reply, Oliver kind of felt a bit panicked, he said, "Baby, I am really sorry, if you want to punish me for letting her around Orion then.. "
Before he could finish Ava raised her head and said in a tone full of blame, "I should, shouldn't I? But how do I blame you when it was me who left him? When he needed me it was Kiara who was with him, how do I forgive myself for that?" Ava's voice cracked at the end.
"Baby please don't! It's not your fault, it's mine. I never told you about Orion so how could you blame yourself for not being in his life? You have no idea how many times I wished I had told you, I know you wouldn't leave then." Oliver held Ava tightly in his arm remembering those painful days.
They both stayed silent for a while before Ava said, "Oliver, we both made mistakes in the past and I don't want to hold on to the past anymore. Let's leave them behind and move forward. We will untie each knot in our heart and resolve them slowly."
Oliver smiled and nodded, "I agree!" He placed a soft kiss on Ava's forehead.
"But Oliver, I know you feel grateful toward Kiara for being there for Orion when I wasn't. I am grateful to her too but since she has feelings for you I don't want you or Orion to have any contact with her in the future. I know it sounds hypocritical of me but if she was around I will always feel insecure."
"Baby I have already told her that and also cut contracts with her after you came back so you don't have to worry about it. I will not let her come any close to Orion again." Oliver promised. For his wife, he was willing to be ungrateful and ruthless. After all, nothing was important to him except for Ava and Orion.
