The ring

Ava stayed in Oliver's arms for a while before she finally pushed herself up from the bed and said, "It's late, I need to go to the foundation."

Oliver's smiling face twitched a little as he thought to himself, everything had changed with this woman but her drive to work didn't subside at all. He got out of bed and before she could go to the bathroom he held her and took her into his arm. "Ava, why do you need to work at the charity foundation? Now that you are back, you should rest and spend time with Orion, relax a little. You don't need to work that hard, you know." Oliver didn't want to say it out loud but as long as Ava stayed at the foundation she will always have close contact with Daniel as he is the largest shareholder there and Oliver didn't like that Idea. If Ava wanted to work he would rather she take over 'The Ava's', after all that was her mall. He wanted to give it to Ava as her Dowry after the marriage but because she was pregnant at that time he thought of letting her take over after she gave birth but he never got the chance.

Ava was a bit confused, she asked lightly, "Why? Oliver you know I established the foundation to help children and I love to do it. Why do you want me to stop?"

Oliver said slowly, "It's not that I want to stop you from helping children, if you want I will form another charity foundation for you and you can work there. I just don't want you to go there and let people have wrong ideas about you and Daniel."

Ava finally realized that she didn't even think about this before, Oliver was right, now that she has divorced Daniel, it will complicate things if they have to be around each other. She already knew Daniel's feelings for her and showing up in front of him as if nothing had happened, will hurt him even more. And how she was going to explain to people that she was divorced from Daniel and back with Oliver again. Maybe it will be better for everyone if she left the foundation, she still has her Academy anyway. So after thinking for a while she turned to Oliver and said with a smile, "You are right, I will have to sort things out and hand over the work to someone before I leave then."

Although Oliver was happy that Ava understood his concern, he still didn't want her to go there. What if Daniel was waiting for her there? He buried his head in her neck and said, "Why do you have to go there in person? Can't it be done by a phone call?"

Ava laughed at his childishness. She knew what was bothering him, she said shaking her head helplessly, "Oliver, are you that insecure? Don't worry, I will finish it as soon as possible and came back to you. In fact, how about I come to Knight International by noon and we have lunch together!"

Finally, a bright smile appeared on Oliver's face as his eyes twinkled at her words. He let go of Ava and she turned to go to the bathroom but Oliver held her hand and pulled her for a kiss but the moment he held her soft hand he felt something cold on her finger. He looked at her hand and instantly his good mood evaporated and his face become cold and hard. He stared at the ring on Ava's hand and said, "Can you please take off the ring?"

Ava was stunned for a moment she just stood there blankly before realizing she was still wearing the wedding ring that Daniel got for her. Suddenly she realized everything has changed in her life, it happened so suddenly that she didn't even have the time to process everything. Ava took out the ring without any hesitation, although she cared about Daniel but her marriage to him meant nothing to her other than a show. She didn't even want to buy a ring but Daniel wouldn't have it any other way, in fact, he designed the ring himself. He valued the married but she didn't at that thought Ava felt guilty toward Daniel. However she didn't deserve to feel guilty or sad for Daniel after what she did to him, she didn't deserve such a good man like Daniel so it was the right decision to let him go so that he could find someone who deserved him. Ava handed the ring to Oliver and noticed that he was still wearing their wedding ring. Her eyes widen and turned red, she whispered, "You're still wearing it! "

"Why wouldn't I, when I am a married man? Where is your ring?" Oliver asked as he looked into her deeply. If he knew the woman well, since she decided to divorce him, she must have thrown the ring somewhere.

Ava swallowed hard and said in a barely audible voice, "I don't know. I have lost it!" Ava looked at her feet unable to raise her head and look at Oliver when she lied to him. When she left 3 years ago, after the people pushed the bus off the cliff Ava stood there and threw her wedding ring thinking that was the end of her relationship with Oliver. If she only knew that was far from the truth she would have kept the ring, it's just that at that time she was so heartbroken and angry she didn't want anything that will remind her of Oliver.

The guilty look on Ava's face was enough to confirm Oliver's suspicion. He felt anger rise in his heart, did their marriage mean nothing to her? How could she throw away their wedding ring? Oliver looked at Ava indifferently and asked in a calm voice, "You have thrown it away didn't you, Ava?"

Ava was surprised that Oliver figured it out but she still couldn't say it, she looked at him and said softly, "I lost it." however she could hold his intense gaze, she quickly looked away and hugged herself uncomfortably.

Oliver stared at Ava for a while looking very disappointed at her but he didn't have the heart to say anything about it. He just turned and went to the waste bin, he took off his own wedding ring, and along with Ava's ring, he threw them in the bin.

Ava stared at his action dumbfounded, she almost shouted out, "Why did you throw your ring?" Their wedding ring was an exclusive piece, it cost him tens of million for the pair, why would he throw such an expensive ring just like that?

Oliver looked at her coldly and said, "Well, it was a pair, since you lost your one, mine becomes useless, didn't it?" Oliver looked at Ava's legs, there was a golden anklet on her right foot. Oliver has noticed it before but didn't think much of it until he held Ava's wedding ring. He realized it was the same design as her ring which could only mean that it was given by Daniel. He looked at her sharply and asked, "Where did you get that anklet from?"

Ava blinked and looked at her own feet, she knew Oliver must have figured it out already so there was no point in lying to him about this. She said lightly, "Daniel gave it to me."

Oliver didn't say a word, he walked to her, squatted down, took off the anklet from her feet then threw it away. He didn't want to see any proof of Daniel in Ava's life especially his undying love and devotion for her.
