Friendships that Stay

She hurried to the door to see if it was really who she thought it was, leaving behind the last piece of fruit she wanted to eat stuck to a fork on the kitchen counter.

She peeped through the hole in her door and caught a glimpse of someone wearing a coat. The coat had water dripping from the bottom and she wondered why it did. It wasn't raining outside that night and it had not done so for some days now.

Finally, the person came into view and Edna immediately knew who it was. It was none other than Frank, looking helpless as usual.

Edna gave her eyes a little roll before she opened the door for him.

"You bastard, what took you so long?"

"Well, I almost got run over by a car, also a few blocks from here some dudes almost mugged me for everything I got but thanks to my sweet agility skills, I escaped."

"You mean, you ran like a pussy."

"Hey now, let's not say things we aren't sure of."
