Ashes

I told mom everything that happened last night. She didn't seem bothered by what happened at all but she was a bit quiet. She was so quiet not even Fluttershy's soft voice could compete with my mother's silence. She stood up and walked upstairs to her room. She stopped for a brief moment and turned to me.

Rose~ I'm going to bed. I suggest you do the same. Jamie is already asleep so try not to wake her up.

Dante~ Mom… are you ok?

Rose~ Just go to bed dear. Goodnight

Dante~ Goodnight mom.

My mother headed straight to bed leaving me in the living room. I stared at the TV for at least an hour thinking about what Donny told me before he collapsed last night. I started to speak to myself in a soft voice, a voice so soft I could barely feel my vocal cords vibrate.

Dante~ "It's all up to you" but why…? Who jabbed that knife into Donny and what is he or she capable of? Can I stop them? *Sigh* just when I thought I could relax… something new pops up. I remember what the knife looked like, the handle at least. It had a blue handle with greek carvings on it and a blue gem. Whoever did this I will make them pay…

I started to get a dark feeling inside me, a feeling full of hate and anger. Before I knew it my skin was purple and half my body was pitch black. I rushed to a mirror and saw my hair turn white along with my eyes glowing red. I couldn't let this moment be forgotten so I reached for my phone and took a picture of myself. After that I put my phone down and looked at myself. I still had that sinister feeling in me. The amount of hate I felt, the urge to rip someone in half, the feeling to hunt someone down… it was getting to me and I couldn't let that happen. I tried to calm down until I noticed I had my necklace on and that was supposed to stop this from happening. It was until then I found my way back to the living room I was breathing heavily along with having blurry vision. My head was getting lighter and lighter until I passed out. I saw myself and nothing but an empty void of darkness until a random spec of light appeared. The more I got closer to the light the brighter the light got. The light started to overpower the darkness and before I knew it I found myself in a weird looking sanctuary.

Dante~ Am I dead!? Where am I? What is this place? Wait what's that in the distance?

I ran over to what it was I saw and tried to make direct contact with it but it shines even brighter, practically blinding me. Then it spoke…

???~ Hello… I am your light. I keep you from going down the path your brother has chosen.

Dante~ Wow almost like a guardian angel. Hey can you tell me where I am?

???~ You are in your own head, you were being corrupted by negative energy so I stopped the energy from taking over you.

Dante~ Ok I guess I'm not dead.

???~ Not at all anyway I have to go now. I won't bother you unless you really need me. I'm here for anything you need help with. Until next time Dante goodbye.

Dante~ Wait!

It vanished along with everything else around me. Minutes later I woke up on the couch. I noticed the sun was coming up after noticing it was 6:30am I got up and decided to get an early head start. I took a shower, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast the usual and left the house. I left the house so early I was able to catch Twilight leaving her house to get to school. I caught up to Twilight and started walking with her.

Twilight~ You're up early. How did you sleep?

Dante~ I slept pretty good, how about you?

Twilight~ I slept great.

Dante~ Awesome, you know there is only one thing that bothers me out of all that has happened so far. Donny told me that something was all up to me when he collapsed the other night. I don't know what he meant by that at all but there is no way that knife just got in his back out of nowhere.

Twilight~ Do you think he was talking about the person who nearly killed him?

Dante~ If so then I need to know who exactly and I have no clue who it could be. This person might be someone Donny screwed over in the past. I need to talk to him about this. He's the only one who knows what happened to him.

Twilight~ But who's to say he remembers what happened that night? Chances are he lost his memory of what happened that night.

Dante~ Twi it's worth a shot. Besides it's not like the answer is just gonna come straight to us out of nowhere.

Twilight~ I guess you're right. Hey Dante…

Dante~ What's up Twi.

Twilight~ *sniff* Do you smell something burning?

Dante~ No but we are getting closer to the school… Wait I see smoke coming from that direction… that's where the school is located…

Twilight~ You don't think…

Both Twilight and I dashed the remaining way to the school finding all the students and staff standing outside. What we saw right in front of us was something… dark… gruesome… and nearly terrifying… The school was in complete flames. The flames burned everything it touched and to make matters even worse there were innocent people in the school still. The fire department tried their best to save everyone but the flames were too out of control to save anyone else. Little to say the school burned to the ground killing anyone that was still in the school. Twilight held onto me, lightly nuzzling her face into my chest, crying. I looked down at her, holding her tight and comforting her. I saw the others outside safe and sound. Twilight and I walked up to them trying to figure out how the fire started.

Dante~ Hey guys are y'all ok?

Rainbow~ Yeah fluttershy and pinkie has a few bruises but other than that we're ok.

Fluttershy~ Everyone was in class when the fire started nobody noticed until after the fire grew larger.

Applejack~ Yeah we barely escaped with our lives. As you can see some of the students didn't make it…

Dante~ We need to let Rip and sunset know about what happened.

Rainbow~ We already got a hold of Sunset she had already got the message before I called her.

Pinkie~ We also got a hold of Rip and he already knows. He also told us that he's making his way to the hospital to see Sunset and told us to meet him there.

Twilight~ Sounds like a plan Dante can you somehow get us all to the hospital in a flash?

Dante~ I've traveled with one or two people before but all of us… sounds a bit risky I've never tried with this many people.

Rarity~ Darling we could at least give it a try. What's the worst that could happen?

Dante~ I guess you're right ok! Everyone hold hands.

As everyone grabbed on to each other I focused all my energy into getting us to where it was we needed to be. This was my first time pretty much teleporting more than one or two people at once so yes I won't lie… it hurt a little but I didn't let that stop me. I saw my veins glowing purple along with the dark glimmering aura surrounding us. After all of that we finally disappeared in the dark aura and reappeared in front of the hospital. I nearly collapsed but luckily Twilight and applejack were there to catch me. When we entered the hospital we sat in the waiting room waiting for me to gather at least some of my energy. I sat there breathing heavily practically gasping for air as if I was underwater. Twilight sat next to me making sure I didn't die on her.

Twilight~ How you feeling?

Dante~ Huh? Oh Ummm… wow that was my first time and did better than I thought. I feel like I'm suffocating… I feel strained…

Applejack~ Are you gonna be ok?

Dante~ That took every ounce of energy in me to pull that off.

Twilight~ I guess the necklace didn't help that much considering the fact it only helps suppress the your abilities

Dante~ Yeah we don't need my emotions accidentally activating any of my powers basically. *Heavy breathing* y'all go ahead and talk to Sunset I'll wait for Rip.

Rainbow~ Not a problem come on girls let's go see Sunset.

Twilight gave me a quick kiss before she left with the girls. Sitting here I kept thinking about the fire that happened at the school. It was a terrible thing to see the school burn down, killing innocent others in the process. If I think that's terrible I can only imagine what the girls went through they said it themselves they could have died. Luckily they didn't die and they were a little injured. I don't know what I would have done if any of them were hurt in any way possible.

Rip~ DANTE!

Dante~ AHHH! Rip you nearly gave me a heart attack and my heart already feels like a popped balloon.

Rip~ geez what got tired?

Dante~ I transported everyone here at the same time. That took up a lot of my energy.

Rip~ Yeah I'm guessing the necklace didn't help much because well you know.

Dante~ Yeah it sucks. Hey let's get to Sunsets room, the others are waiting on us.

Rip~ Alright let's go.

Rip and I started walking to Sunsets room

Rip~ I heard about what happened. I never thought the school would get burned down. Am I the only one who smells a rat?

Dante~ I won't lie, it does seem a bit strange if you ask me. I mean think about it absolutely nobody knows what started the fire. You would think someone would have a hunch on what caused it but not a single soul knew anything about it. But let's save that conversation for another time.

Rip~ Understandable… Soooooo how have you been lately?

Dante~ I've been great actually Donny is finally kinda captured mostly because he's in the hospital.

Rip~ I think you told me that I could be crazy.

Dante~ Well Donny got stabbed deep in his back and now he's powerless kinda. He's too weak to use any of his abilities.

Rip~ Nice to know he won't be hurting anyone for quite some time. I'm not gonna lie, I was afraid he might kill you.

Dante~ You know that won't ever happen. Hey you know I've been thinking Twilight and the others have magic right?

Rip~ Yeah I think I read something about that. There's six elements in the magic they possess.

Dante~ They have the magic of friendship but I was thinking, me and you have been best friends for who knows how long. Maybe me and you have our own kind of magic don't you think.

Rip~ Lol Dante you funny.

Dante~ *Playfully punches Rips arm* But seriously don't you think that would be awesome?

Rip~ Hell yeah that would be awesome if we had our own kind of magic. We would have to give it a cool name like The magic of unity.

As Rip was talking about the current topic we were on we approached and entered Sunsets room finding everyone smiling and sharing some nice laughs with each other.

Rip~ Wow that would be cool!

Sunset~ Heh what were you two talking about?

Dante~ Oh I asked Rip if it would be cool if we have our own magic kinda like your magic along with the girls.

Sunset~ Trust me harnessing magic is no easy task.

Dante~ Trust me as someone who harnesses their own power of some sort I understand.

Rip~ I kinda understand I need this explained honestly.

Sunset~ Let's save that for another time. Right now let's just take the time to sit back and chill with each other.

The second Sunset finished her sentence the doctor came rushing in the room.

Dr.Mike~ Dante thank heavens you're here!

Dante~ Wait why… what happened?

Dr.Mike~ It's Donny he's gone!

Sunset~ What do you mean he's gone!?

Dr.Mike~ I mean he's gone, he disappeared, he's not in the hospital anymore!

Dante~ When was the last time you saw him in his room?

Dr.Mike~ It was minutes before I saw you and your friend walking down the hallway. I left to go get his X-rays for five minutes and when I got back to his room he wasn't there. Nobody has a clue on where he could be.

Dante~ Calm down he doesn't have the strength to use any of his abilities on anyone not even to himself. He couldn't have gotten far. Rip and I will help look for him. We'll bring him back to his room for you.

Dr.Mike~ Thank you so much! I'll be in his room until you bring him back.

Dante~ Let's go Rip.

Rip and I dashed out the room looking for my brother. We decided to split up and cover more ground to quicken the search for Donny. As Rip searched the bottom half of the hospital I searched the top half. An hour went by and I had searched the top half at least ten times. I felt like I was stumped until I remembered I didn't check the entire half of the hospital. I made my way to the roof of the hospital and there he was sitting at the edge of the roof. I tried not to startle him so I casually walked up to him and sat down next to him.

Dante~ You worried a good amount of people today you know that right? I mean what were you thinking running off like that?

Donny~ Can you shut the fuck up? Why do you care anyway?

Dante~ I'm your brother by blood… it's my duty to care.

Donny~ *sigh*

Donny looked away from me for a moment before looking directly into my eyes.

Donny~ Dante do you remember what happened that night?

Dante~ No all I remember is that you collapsed and I saw a knife jabbed deep into your back. After that I blacked out and woke up at home.

Donny~ When you blacked out all of the energy in you burst inside you and made you an unstoppable force… Dante what pops into your head when you think of me?

Dante~ Strong, smart, fast… and fearless.

Donny~ I have to tell you something but when I do you can't tell anyone, got that?

Dante~ What is it?

Donny~ I'm… afraid… of you. When I saw it for the first time, your true strength. I was on the ground when I looked you in the eyes, your red, cold blooded eyes… I froze. And at that moment I realized I'm scared. For the first time I felt fear and it was because my own brother is stronger than me… I thought you were gonna kill me that night until you reverted back to your own self and collapsed. Your friend came into the apartment and grabbed you before the ambulance arrived and you both disappeared. That's what happened last night and I know I've already said it but bottom line I'm afraid of you and I don't know how to deal with that. And the stupidest thing about this I'm still determined to kill you for some reason but I know I'll die if I do so.

Dante~ I was once set on killing you too… but when I saw that you were more than expected that's when I started to shake. I realized you're no joke and I was still determined to kill you or was I? I was told by someone to follow what my heart says, not my mind. I think if you do that then life will be easier for you trust me.

Donny~ I guess you were right I guess I do have some thinking to do or do I? I don't know what you mean by follow my heart.

Dante~ Trust me you'll figure it out.

Donny~ Maybe, hey do you see what I'm seeing? It looks like a live fire.

Dante~ A fire!

Donny~ Yeah that's a fire. Looks like the local park's trees are burning.

Dante~ That's not good, someone could be in trouble!

Donny~ You can't possibly do anything about that just let the authorities take care of it. Let's get back inside. Everyone is probably scared that I'm gone.

Dante~ Yeah let's go.

I grabbed Donny's hand and made up appear in his room. Donny got back in bed sitting upright.

Dante~ Hey I gotta go back to the others. I'll let the doctor know that you're back in your room. I'll talk to you later.

Donny~ Dante…

Dante~ What's up big bro?

Donny~ T-tell Sunset I said hi for me would ya.

Dante~ I got you. later Donny.
