Chapter 4: The Question Has Been Answered, To Accept
William was sitting at his office with so many things on his head and at the top of that was only one thing: Liam Lingard was supposed to be dead.
He went through so many files and asked from so many other Alphas but all of them told him that the Lingard family all died with no exception. They were all dead but Liam was at the infirmary with Logan and William was sure he was completely alive.
"What are you thinking about Alpha?" Jordan, his Beta, asked him. He never saw his Alpha zone out like this for hours. "Can I help with something?"
"Jordan! You started to call me Alpha again! We had this conversation thousands of times for more than six years!" William hated the fact that his best friend was supposed to call him Alpha just because of the stupid rules. "Don't you dare call me Alpha one more time!"
Jordan sighed and sat next to William. "Sorry, it's my instincts, well, my wolf instincts but whatever." Then he looked at his Alpha in the eyes. "Now tell me, what happened that made you like this?"
"Remember… Derek?" William said and watched how his Beta stiffened at the mention of their deceased friend.
"It's not like I can forget him, can you?" Jordan sighed. "Why are you asking?"
"Remember Liam?" William sighed and look at his Beta. Liam was William's and Jordan's favorite. They met quite a lot and he was sure that when they meet Liam, he would recognize their scent.
"How can I forget that sweet boy?" Jordan sighed one more time. He adored the boy. "Why are you asking these questions?"
"What I'm sharing with you is a top-secret in the wolf community so listen carefully and never talk about it." William looked at his Beta. He knew Jordan is a trustable person and there's no doubt in his loyalty.
"William, you know that you can trust me." Jordan was William's friend since they were little pups and it was the same for Derek so there was no way that he would ever betray his Alpha or the Mist pack.
"Liam is here. His Logan's mate…" Jordan looked at his Alpha with eyes like a saucer. "He is alive and right now he's resting in the infirmary. Crimson told Logan that their mate was in danger and then Logan found him in the forest with a knife in his hand and a box with wolfsbane's powder in his other hand. I'm a hundred percent sure he wanted to kill himself."
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Jordan suddenly shouted. "Liam, Liam Lingard is alive?" Oh god, how much he cried when he found out about the Flame pack, the strong Beta cried. "It is impossible. We were there when they buried the coffins!"
"And here is the mystery…" William looked troubled for the first time. "No one ever found their bodies. The Elders told me this only because I wanted to see them for the last time but they told me the bodies of the Lingard family disappeared. They never found the bodies! What they buried were empty coffins!"
Jordan looked at his Alpha with pain and sadness in his eyes. He was shocked, true, but he couldn't help but feel betrayed. "And you didn't think I had a right to know?"
"I couldn't tell you! I don't know why but I couldn't." William looked at his Beta and then tried to change the topic to a more important one. "Let's deal with other things later. It's Liam I'm talking about right now. He smelled alone but there were other scents too. Not a werewolf scent. I smelt a powerful scent and Liam is an Omega so he can't have a power scent!"
"But his father is powerful…" Jordan pointed out and tried to act like a mature wolf. He was so happy that Liam was still alive and the happiness shrugged off all the shock very easily. "What if they are alive?"
"I don't think so." He sighed. "The whole pack got infected and Liam is alive for the reason he didn't have a mate that time so the poison didn't affect him."
"I want to see him." Jordan looked at his Alpha eyes and he knew William was going to say no but he continued. "Please William! He's the only thing that has been left for me from Derek."
"We both go then." They both need a visit and this wasn't the perfect time for that but if William continued waiting for the perfect time, then they would never see him. "Now or never."
William watched how his friend's eyes lit up and how he vanished with his super wolf speed for seeing Liam. For once, not caring if he's going to break any rule or not and this showed how much he wanted to see Liam.
It only took five minutes for them to arrive at the infirmary but ten minutes to finally convincing each other to meet Liam.
"Holy moon! I can't believe we're acting like little kids." And this was enough for the Alpha to snap out of the anxiety and knock on the door.
"Come in." They heard Logan whispering from the other side of the door and then William opened the door only to see his son looking at his sleeping mate.
"He didn't wake up?" William asked with a concerned tone. It's been hours and he should have wakened up by now."
"He did but he fell asleep some hours ago." William looked at his son and judged by the way he looked at Liam, he found that Liam didn't reject him which was a good thing to know that his moody son will finally have someone to laugh with and probably don't be his grumpy self.
The Alpha and the Bate took sits near the future Alpha as they watched him looking at the boy that they knew perfectly well with a poker face but eyes filled with so many emotions that showed his care for the other.
"Liam…" Jordan couldn't hold back anymore, he wanted to see those emerald eyes one more time. He wanted to see the face of his best friend's son and he didn't care if the other boy in the room looked at him like he saw a ghost and he called him one more time. "Treble?"
Wake up, Liam! Blue whispered in his dream. Wake up and see what the goddess has given us!
Did blue sound… happy? Then that was something that could wake Liam as he heard the familiar voice calling him, saying the familiar nickname as three different scents hit his nose.
His mate's scent above all other scents, smelt like dark chocolate, bitter but sweet. Then the other scents. One smelt like rose and vanilla and the other smelt like mist and a little toffy. The scents were oddly familiar.
Slowly he opened his eyes. He didn't feel tired, maybe a little but not as much as the first time he woke up. He looked at his mate, it was like an invisible force making him looked at his mate and he couldn't help but love the way how his mate softened his sharp face toward him.
The Alpha watched his son with a shocked face. It's been years since he saw his son's smile and soft side. He stopped being a soft and smiley person when he turned eleven at this was a whole new softness level.
Then Liam looked away from his mate to the two others in the room. "Uncle Jay?" He looked at the man in front of him and he couldn't believe it. "
This was enough for the Beta to lose control and he threw himself at the poor boy on the bed only to be pushed hard by the future Alpha with a loud and threatening growl. "MINE!"
Liam still was in shock. Now he found out what Blue was so excited about. He looked at his mate and he felt his wolf calming down a little. Believe it or not, Blue kind of accepted him which wasn't a rare thing since it's always the human part that most of the time rejects the mate.
They were mates, right? They could share their thoughts when they accepted each other. He knew Logan accepted him and he trusted Logan even if the time they shared wasn't that much.
So, he accepted him and made Logan watch his childhood memories with Jordan and William then he turned and gave a big nervous smile to the other two persons in the room. It has been years since the last time they saw each other and he knew they thought he was dead and their approach made Liam very nervous.
"Hi, Liam." William smiled as he watched his deceased friend's son with a smile. God, he grew up so much!
"You can't believe how much I'm glad you're okay!" Jordan beamed like a four-year-old even though he was a Beta and also a thirty-eight-year-old Beta.
Liam was nervous and Logan felt it too so he slowly reached out and intertwined their fingers because he knew that Liam carved the comfort right now. By the surprising memories that Liam showed him, he knew very well that he was overwhelmed so he tried his best.
Whatever is going to happen you should know one thing and you should always remember it. Logan said soothingly through the mate's mind-link. Whatever happens, we are always together in everything.
