Chapter 7: Mother's Train Of News

It's been one week and five days since Liam entered the Mist pack. He loved it there even though he wasn't ready to admit it, even to himself. Everyone acted so nice and the packhouse had a homey feeling but with all of these things, Liam couldn't help but feel a weird feeling.

Everything was so good and for Liam, every time that things were starting to go smoothly, and every time that he felt things were perfect something happened and by something, he meant something bad.

Currently, Liam was sitting at the massive kitchen of the Mist packhouse and doing nothing but thinking about everything. How his life turned out to be so great at such a little amount of time and it scared him, so much.

"What are you thinking about?" Logan said quietly while he sat next to his mate. His voice was deep and dominant like the Alpha he was but while he talked to Liam, his eyes were soft and it was a new thing to the pack members but for Liam, it was his mate's usual appearance that he adored quietly.

"Nothing." Liam offered a smile, something that just Logan, William, Jordan, and Miranda got the pleasure to see. "Just thinking about… stuff."

"And that would be?" Logan put his arm around his mate's shoulder. They started to grow more comfortable around each other after their little big moment in the infirmary. "Something is bothering you. Let's face it together."

"You know what Logan?" Liam smiled at his mate with playful eyes, of course, he wasn't going to burden his mate just because he had a little insecurity problem so Liam tried to change the subject. "Your mom told me that our simple greeting every time that we see each other is more than your usual talking for a whole year."

Logan looked at his mate's playful eyes but behind the playfulness, there was sadness which Logan could detect from a mile so there was absolutely no way for Logan to drop the topic but for now, he was going to play the game for a while and trying to turn Liam's attention to somewhere else besides his sad thoughts.

"I think she told the truth." Liam grinned at Logan's answer, "What is so funny about it?"

"It just makes me feel special!" Here is the hyper side of Liam that Logan loved. The side that only and only Logan witnessed, not even the Alpha and the Beta of the Mist pack had the pleasure to see this after Liam was brought here by Logan. Liam looked at Logan for a brief second and suddenly he put his hands on his moth. "I didn't say that out loud, did I?"

"Oh, my dear mate!" Logan smirked at the red color on Liam's cheeks. "You said that completely out loud but come on! I'm you're mate and when you say something like that, I just want to kiss you till your last breath!"

"Please tell me the grumpy Logan didn't just say that!" Liam teased but his entire face was now a bright red color that made Logan break a smile which meant he was laughing at Liam, inside. "Don't you dare laugh at me, Logan! You can't just go around and say these things to people!"

"But you're not people!" Logan came closer and closer to Liam till his breath was touching Liam's lips and their lips were only inches apart while their noses were in contact. "You're my mate. My soulmate. My everything."

And their lips met each other. Liam answered the kiss while Logan grabbed him by his stomach and put him on the counter as he deepened the kiss. Liam let his hands travel to his mate's hair while Logan pressed their bodies together. It's their second kiss, Logan was starving for his mate.

"Get a room, kids!" Suddenly a third person appeared in the kitchen, Miranda, the Luna of the Mist pack. "Teenagers know nothing about public places and where to show affection these days!" Miranda chuckled which showed her humor.

"Mood killer!" Logan muttered under his breath while he helped the blushing Liam to come down from the counter but after he did that, he didn't let go of Liam's hands. "Why are you here?"

"Hi to you too, son!" Miranda said sarcastically. "I was looking for Liam. There's something really important to discuss." She gave Liam a sad smile which confused Liam but he answered with a little smile.

What is it about, mom? Logan asked his mother through a mind-link but Miranda completely ignored it and turned to Liam. What she was about to say, she knew it would probably ruin Liam and left him in a depressing situation but he had the right to know so she didn't say anything about it to Logan since she perfectly knew that he would stop her from saying it.

She took a deep breath and looked at Liam which made her words stuck in her throat. The boy was far too innocent of the things that happened to him. His big green eyes shined brightly because of the moment that he had with his mate and Miranda hated to be the one that was going to ruin it.

"Umm… Why don't we take a sit?" Miranda finally came out of her train of thoughts and invite both boys out of the kitchen. "Let's go to Will's office. I guess he wants to say it himself." Which was a total lie by the way. Everyone loved the future Luna for his innocence and kind nature so no one wanted to be the one to tell him the bad news, Miranda and William weren't exceptions but it was something that they had to do.

"Alright." That was the only thing that Liam said. The three of them went to the elevator and Miranda pushed the bottom for the seventh floor.

As weird as this sound Liam could sense the negative energy around Miranda and her weird face didn't help to calm his nerves down either.

Hey, Liam. Logan said through his mind-link to Liam. Remember what I told you at the infirmary that day? The day that my father and Jordan came to visit you for the first time?

Whatever happens, we are always together in everything. Liam answered. He remembered perfectly. The memory was something that gave him comfort even though he was surrounded by new people. I can't forget it but maybe it's because it was like what? Two weeks ago?

Logan chuckled which made Miranda give the boys an amused look. It was such a rare thing to witness. "Are you teenagers talking without me?!" She said while she opened the elevator's door and walked past the people in the long hallway and entered the Alpha's office.

"Absolutely yes." Logan looked at his mate with love in his usual emotionless eyes which by the way, was also another rare sight.

Miranda didn't say anything else and she entered the office with both boys behind her. Logan was still holding Liam's hand and his fingers were intertwined with Liam's long and artistic fingers which helped both of their nerves to calm down a little.

"Miranda?" William looked up from the files in front of him and examined his wife's features. She was supposed to tell Liam the news but from what the situation looked like, she couldn't and now William was supposed to say it.

"Okay! It's enough!" Logan suddenly said. Liam was starting to feel nervous and Logan could easily feel it through the bond that they shared. "Enough with your games! What is it?"

"Let's sit boys," Miranda said again. When Logan turned to his moody self again, there was no way they could settle his mood, well at least not them, Liam could. "There is something really important to talk about."

"I said…" Logan said angrily while he squeezed his mate's hand that was shaking a little. It was weird but he could feel there was some bad news coming and he knew Liam felt the same way too. "What is it?"

"It's okay Logan," Liam whispered soothingly to his mate, and then he turned to the other two in the room. "What is it that you want to tell me, uncle?"

William took a deep breath. "Nathan is alive."

My brother? Liam subconsciously said through the mind-link that he and Logan shared and the next thing that he remembered was Logan shouting his name as he fell to his arms.
