"Please, Liam! Don't let them do that to me!" Nathan yelled. He looked sick. Liam wanted nothing more than run into his brother's arm and sniff his familiar scent but he couldn't. Nathan didn't have any feelings anymore.
The cellar's black stones were clean and shining. The only conscious wolf behind the bars was Nathan.
Liam and Logan left the field after their little moment with Selene's presence and hurried back to the packhouse. They both tracked William and Nathan's scents to the cellar.
Nathan was tied into a chair with Jordan over him. The Beta had a shocker in his hands and his eyes were shining with rage.
As much as Liam wanted to protest, he couldn't. the only thing that he could do was to watch his brother suffering from the pain that he didn't deserve but deserved at the same time. Nathan didn't choose to be the only one to get infected but he did and there was nothing they could do about it.
"Please, Liam! I didn't do anything!" Nathan begged his little brother to help him. He didn't know why he was here and what the Alpha and Beta wanted to know.
Logan looked at his mate. Normally he wouldn't give a shit about people's feelings but of course, Liam was different and now that their mental bond was complete and equal, he didn't even need to ask Liam to know that he wanted to cry.
Liam wanted to cry but he didn't want to look weak. He's not a weak person. He never was. Breaking down was not something that Liam believed in. His world used to be perfect. He had everything that he wanted or at least that is what Lim tried to believe but even with all the hardships, he loved his life.
"Look, Nathan…" Liam started and to say that everyone was shocked by his stable and steady voice. "All they just want is that you tell them where is the IOI. Please brother." His voice trembled a little at the end but that was it. He was acting like a perfect future Luna.
Logan looked at his mate with proud eyes and squeezed his hand. On the other side was Miranda who was gawking at her son's public displaying of feelings.
"What is that? I don't even know what you're talking about!" Nathan shouted but not even a single tear fell from his eyes. he didn't even look threatened or scared. Nathan was just angry about why people kept asking him about the things that he had no idea were what.
"That's it!" Jordan said bitterly and closed the distance between the shocker and the quarantined prisoner. The idea of hurting Nathan pained the Beta. He felt like he was betraying his deceased best friend but there was no other option.
As soon as the shocker touched Nathan's scream the whole crowd went deaf for a second. The wolf screamed at the top of his lungs and cried his brother's name.
Logan felt Liam's trembling hand against his own. His mate looked scared. He wasn't scared though. He was horrified. When Nathan's screams got louder, he turned and buried his face in Logan's shoulder.
Logan knew exactly what his mate needed. His hands automatically went up to cover his mate's ears and tried to block the screams as much as he could. Liam held his mate for dear life and tried to block the memories of the Mate Killer's attack and the screams at the same time.
Listen to my voice, child. Selene came to his rescue one more time. Follow the songs and nature shall help the pure soul to meet his other one. Remember well, my dear. You need to know this. Just remember that you are my creature. I'm your mother. Remember that and you shall survive all of this.
And suddenly, everything looked so much brighter than it was supposed to be. Talking to Selene always made him feel better and make wiser choices. He wasn't just a weak Omega. He had Beta blood running in his veins and he must prove it in every single way that he can. It was his mission.
"Tell them to stop." He whispered to Logan. At first, Logan wanted to protest but something told him not to. If Liam wanted to stop this then he must have had a good reason for that.
"Stop!" He Alpha-commended the Beta. "Leave him alone."
One look at his son's face and William knew not to say anything back. Logan knew something and he was on the right path. William was kind of proud that his son, still not the full Alpha of the Mist pack, could Alpha-commend the current Beta.
Nathan looked up and stared at his brother's mate. The shocker only brought a werewolf pain, not physical harm. But something told him it wasn't Logan who stopped this.
Liam turned away from his mate and walked into the cellar. Jordan tried to stop him and grab his arm but his hand stopped in the middle of the way. The Alpha family was watching Liam as if he was a flying mouse.
"Look at me, Nathan," Liam whispered with a dreamy tone. "What do you know?" He said it slowly and never broke his eye contact with Nathan.
"I—" Nathan started. "I escaped. I don't know." He suddenly shook his head and broke eye contact with Liam. "What the fuck! What just happened?"
Everyone looked at Liam. His eyes were pure blue but no one felt the presence of Blue in the room. He was calm and collected.
Logan observed all of this quietly. Something told him not to get worried. After the meeting with Selene, he knew something would change and this was just the start.
Liam broke out of his daze and finally looked around only to see the others were staring at him with weird faces. His eyes connected with Logan and a faint blush covered his face.
Logan was smirking. He knew it wasn't the time to think like this but Logan couldn't help but think that Liam looked indeed pretty hot when he was commanding someone.
When logan felt Liam's uncomfortableness, he growled loudly and glared at everyone in the room while bringing Liam to his chest and embracing him.
William was the first one to break out of his daze. He looked at his Beta, Jordan, for confirmation. Their theory was true. Liam wasn't just an Omega. He was something much more and powerful.
Liam turned around and pressed himself to Logan's chest and used his comfort to get the courage to continue talking. "I'm a Gamma." To say that everyone's jaw hit the ground would be an underestimate. "Dad used to say that I shouldn't tell anyone because it will threaten my life but I trust you."
Logan knew it. He wasn't shocked. He and Crimson felt Liam and Blue's pure power when they first saw them. Logan just tightened his hold and pressed his cheek to Liam's head as an act of comfort.
Miranda smiled at her son and his mate. "We are honored to have a Gamma in this family."
"But didn't you always call yourself an Omega?" Jordan stated, confused. "There was this one time that I heard you were singing the Omega's song when you were playing."
"He just realized it." Logan looked down at his mate. Liam looked at him and smiled. The smile was so genuine for Logan not to do the action back. The simple smile shocked the people in the room even more than before.
Logan took Liam's chin softly and tilted his head. He bent down and kissed his mate softly.
At first, Liam felt embarrassed by the public displaying of affection but he soon forgets about it and kissed his mate back with the same level of affection.
Miranda awed at the pure moment that her son and his mate were sharing. William simply smiled and Jordan shook his head and smirked. The couple reminded him of Nicholas, Liam and Nathan's dad, and their mother, Laura. They were one of those couples that showed their affection for each other publicly.
"I love you," Logan whispered on his mate's lips and opened his eyes to see Liam's flushed face. "More than anything that you can think of."
"I love you too." Liam smiled and whispered back to Logan. "More than anyone can love anything."
"Uhm… No one wants to free me!?"
