'Hmm.'
She couldn't stay here, that was for sure. But she also couldn't run out. Was her only option to be a lamb waiting to be slaughtered? No, she didn't like lamb meat anyway.
Looking at the wall of the city, Aquila narrowed her eyes. The top of the wall wasn't too high, and it wasn't too far from her current position. If she jumped, she might make it.
'If I jumped, would I make it? Oh but who cares. Worst case scenario, he catches me and I die. Best case scenario, I miss the top of the wall and get smacked to death. Okay, let's do it.'
Nodding her head to herself, a glint flashed across her eyes for a second as she thought this.
In her mind, two young girls appeared.
"Hmm, are you sure we should sneak out? What if we get caught?"
"Does it matter? Best case scenario we sneak out successfully and get caught by the guards. Worst case scenario we get caught before we can sneak out. Is there any difference?"
"Hehe, fine fine. But if we get caught, I'm running away~ you can deal with the guards on your own heh." A little girl giggled to herself while an older girl smiled softly at her, her eyes calmly looking at the little girl.
Shaking her head, Aquila returned to reality.
Quickly snapping a twig off the tree, Aquila peeked at the man. Right when he was checking the branches above him, Aquila narrowed her eyes and threw the twig towards him. The twig soared through the air and landed behind the tree the man was on with a quiet "thonk".
However, since the man was very vigilant, he heard it. Quickly looking back, he saw nothing. Widening his eyes, he instantly turned around but was too late. He saw nothing, no one.
That second was all Aquila needed. As soon as he looked behind him, she immediately jumped off the branch, using it to boost her speed as much as she could. Sailing over the wall, she realized she had jumped much farther than expected and was now falling.
Quickly adjusting her body position midair, she landed with a gentle "tap", landing with her left leg in front, taking most of her weight. Sighing, she looked down at her sprained right ankle. Even though it didn't hurt, it was still very weak. She knew that if it didn't heal, it would make fighting very hard.
"Excuse me, miss. Who are you and... why did you... just intrude in our city?" A woman asked as she walked closer to Aquila, eying her warily.
Looking up at the woman, Aquila wasn't sure what to say.
'Uhm... think think, what did she use to do in these situations?' Remembering how the girl dropped down to her knees and cried out her grievances as if she were greatly wronged, Aquila had the urge to facepalm.
'Oh... yeah.... nope never-mind, let's do it my way.' She thought with a weary smile.
Looking down at her sprained ankle, she spoke quietly, "I ran into an assassin and sprained my ankle while running away. I came here to hide."
'Well, it is technically the truth,' Aquila thought.
Looking at the young girl before her speaking softly while looking down, the woman's motherly instinct kicked in.
Sighing softly, she replied with a gentler tone.
"I see. Yes, that happens quite often out here, actually. Let me guess, you were traveling alone?"
Seeing the girl nodded her head slightly, the woman sighed again. "You're luckier than some others I've met. I'm the city's healer. Many have come in with large gashes on their body, some even missing limbs."
"Yes... I'm a fast runner."
"Ah, I see. That makes sense. Here, come with me. I'll look at your ankle to make sure it didn't get infected."
"Thank you."
"It's nothing. But you should leave as soon as possible. The city leaders don't like it when people come in without permission."
"I see..."
The woman took Aquila to her shop. It was a small but very cozy place with enough room for multiple people to walk around and not feel crowded or stuffy. The walls were packed with herbs of all types as well as many different bottles of glowing liquid.
"Over here."
Looking over to where the woman had called out, Aquila saw a wooden door in front of her. Opening it, the woman beckoned her to come in. Walking over to the woman, Aquila could see that it was an office of sorts inside. There were two seats inside as well as a desk overflowing with papers. Walking in behind her, the woman looked a little embarrassed.
"Ahah... sorry about the mess..."
"It's nothing, don't worry about it," Aquila replied with a small smile.
"By the way, welcome to Greenwood City. Here, have a seat while I look for some things."
The woman then walked over to the bookshelf at the side of the room. Looking at a couple of them, she then took a green colored book off the shelf.
Peeking over, Aquila saw that the green book was embellished with golden strokes on the cover and sides of the book. Raising her eyebrows, she was slightly surprised at how elegant it looked but didn't really care.
Walking over to Aquila while flicking through the pages of the book, she let out an "ah" when she found the right page. Kneeling down, she placed a finger on Aquila's right ankle softly.
A bright blue light surrounded her finger before entering Aquila's ankle. Widening her eyes, Aquila was surprised when she felt the strong foreign energy enter her body. She narrowed her eyes dangerously at the woman.
Even though she didn't know much about Superlunary energy, after studying deep into Celestial energy, she was able to grasp the basics of Superlunary energy rather easily. After all, the two were both energy forms and were somewhat similar. But still, she could only understand as much as she could considering she had never been on a moon before.
She knew that what the woman did was not basic healing. But she didn't know what the woman did. She was prepared to knock the woman out if she were to feel any interior pain.
Even if she didn't understand the foundation of energy, it was pretty obvious if she thought about it. Why would a healer need to use a book to cast a simple healing spell? Healing a sprained ankle could be considered one of the simplest spells for healers. As long as it wasn't infected, it would be an easy spell to cast because sprained ankles naturally healed on their own anyway. The healer would just be speeding up the process.
Aquila's eyes flickered darkly.
