CHAPTER 323: Why Can't He Grab It?

Reginald massaged his temple after receiving another news.

"What's wrong father?" Gideon asked, he was also in Reginald's office.

"Another prisoner died."

"Hmmm, well they were falling sick. Could there be a virus spreading within the imperial prison?"

The imperial prison was the world's most secure prison. It is the prison where the most notorious criminals are being held.

It was placed within the empire of Qillian, one of the conditions in the pact from hundreds of years ago. Other than defending from darkness, they also became the watcher over the largest prison.

"I have people checked and they said that the prison was not as clean as we thought it would be. It seems that the warden was not doing its part at all. I have punished him already but that does not solve everything all at once."

Even thought they were notorious criminals, having them fall sick means that even the guards could fall sick. Reginald didn't want that to happen.

"Should I go and take a look? With Lerissa?"

Reginald raised an eyebrow at Gideon.

His look made Gideon blush, "Please don't look at me like that."

"Do you think I wouldn't notice?" Reginald gave a knowing smile.

"I just wish to check on the condition of the prison."

Reginald laughed, "Yes, yes, say what you want. But do go and check."

Gideon has the water ability and was also a gifted one just like Nixon, so him entering the place and check its cleanliness while also making sure that the guards aren't falling sick was fine.

Lerissa, on the other hand, was researching on potions unlike Ridge, her younger brother, who was researching both poison and potions. She can be of help to Gideon when it comes to healing the rest.

So, the two of them going was a fine matter, just that Gideon actually has feelings towards Lerissa.

It happened back when he was just staring to control his water ability at the age of 12.

In a cliff away from the palace, he tried to train on his own but ended up causing the cliff to collapse because he was unable to control his ability better.

He ended up plunging into the water, the sudden impact caused him to be dizzy, he was unable to control the water around him or had the chance to use his ability to get out of it.

Just as he tried to stabilize himself before he drowns another person jumped in and pulled him out of the water.

What he remembered was her amethyst-colored eyes that was shining brightly.

They were so beautiful like the gem that it represents.

And in the whole kingdom, he had not seen anyone having such beautiful eyes.

It was only when they were out of the water that he realized who it was.

It was none other than Ridge's older sister who was known as the nerd of the Amethyst family.

She rarely steps out of the house or the facility where potions are being researched on.

And when she does go out, her hair was covering half of her face. It was only because of her family background that no one dared to bully her. But no one tried to befriend her either.

She was in her own world and that is how Gideon knew her.

He did not expect that she actually has such beautiful eyes.

In contrast to her gloomy look, her eyes were brightly shining. Not lifeless but was filled with vigor instead.

"Th- Thank you," he spoke.

She was trying to dry her hair when he thanked her. She smiled towards him and he felt like he just saw the sweetest smile out there.

"That was dangerous since you are just starting to control your ability, your highness. You should start with shallow waters first," she replied as she gave up in drying herself.

"Let me help you," he said.

He controlled the water in her clothes, hair and skin before dispersing them.

"I was indeed hasty," he then commented.

"Pressure is in you but that doesn't mean you will not care whether it was dangerous or not. Anyway, you are talented enough that you must not rush in controlling the natural water so fast."

Gideon was actually the youngest water ability user to be able to control his own water and that is why he wanted to step up his game, he wanted to control the natural ones already.

And since he wanted to become better faster, he tried controlling a large amount such as the water in the deep sea.

"You're right," he scratched his cheek.

"How about trying the shore about half a kilometer west of this cliff? No one goes in there and you can concentrate all you want."

He blinked, she was aware that he was training in order to become stronger and not wanting people to watch him.

"I had a lot of herbs and plants picking around here that is why I am aware of such a place."

She turned and seeing as she was truly dry, she bowed towards him, "Thank you for helping me to dry my clothes, your highness."

"No, thank you for helping me out," he replied.

Lerissa smiled before going on on her own.

She was simply harvesting when she saw him fall, she knew of his ability but seeing as he was not coming up, she had decided to jump on her own.

Gideon watched her walk away, once again her hair was covering her face.

The thought of her beautiful eyes kept repeating on his mind and soon his face turned red while his heart bits fast.

After that day, he went to the place she pointed and was able to practice all he wants.

They would meet one another from time to time but Lerissa simply bows towards him in greeting before going on to where she wants to go.

Despite that, Gideon was looking forward to these days.

And very slowly the puppy love he felt in the beginning turned to true love as time pass by.

They had conversations but Lerissa was a person with few words and he respects that so in the end, he could only greet her when she greets him.

Yet even though his training was over, he would still come here just so he could meet her.

It seems that she still comes here for her plants and herbs and he was grateful for that.

Now since a chance presented itself to him, why can't he grab it?
