Chapter 71

"Remember, I will be the one who will be scouting for today, but tomorrow we will both be heading out together. You should get that across your mind as soon as possible so that you are mentally prepared." Timothy after swallowing told Jacob as he made his way to the outside area.

As he made his way up the mountain, purposefully going slow just in case there were demon beasts nearby, Timothy began to think about something. "Master Sei, do you think it would be possible to give Jacob a different technique to practice? Right now he seems to be good as a human shield for me, but I would like him to be on par with me soon." Timothy asked his master with a mental message.

"You are in the right to ask, but as time goes on and he gains more and more combat experience, his Aura of the King will begin to slowly pour out into his attacks and just from that alone, he could more or less outmatch you physically. As for you, the Aura of Slaughter is a very useful aura as well that will slowly manifest inside of you. The more demon beasts that you are able to kill, the stronger your killing intent will become and the more your aura will increase your strength."

"If I had known that you had the Aura of Slaughter, I would have given you a handful of techniques to learn instead of the others that I have. You only learned the first chapter of the movement technique and almost completed the first chapter of that kicking type technique. How about next you try to experiment with that hand technique?" Master Sei asked Timothy.

"I will not act like that is a bad idea, that hand technique that makes my hand as sharp as a sword can definitely come in handy especially out here in the Monster's Wasteland. I was thinking to myself last night that a lot of my personal wealth comes from the items I have, so the more I use them the more my wealth drops. However, if my body could be used to replace a weapon, it would be killing two with one!" Timothy replied after pondering over it for about a minute or so.

As he was about to finally reach the top of the mountain, Timothy heard several roars and screeching. He was unsure what the sounds were, but it sounded like several demon beasts were fighting. All he could do was grin as he lifted his head to inquire.

Now that he made it to the top of the mountain, Timothy was able to see countless miles that covered the Monster's Wasteland. Unfortunately, but expected, he was still unable to see the so-called waterfall area of the core area. If he and Jacob wanted to locate it in the future as a landmark to figure out the way towards Stone Kingdom, they would have to continue ahead for at least several more days.

According to the map, the Monster's Wasteland took roughly an entire week of non stop traveling to get through. This meant that the core area was still roughly three days away from where they were currently staying. This was a rough reality, because the mountain could only be used temporarily which allowed the two to see many miles away while once they leave, they would lose such a good benefit.

Still, even with these answers in the back of his mind, Timothy could not help but to appreciate what he was looking at. There were indeed many demon beasts, but as luck had it, there were no groups larger than two together. Looking down, Timothy noticed that a demon beast had gotten slightly too close to another's area which is why they were now fighting one another. This meant that if they were smart about it, Jacob and Timothy could slowly kill them one by one!

As he continued to scout the many miles, Timothy noticed that out of all the demon beasts in eye view, he saw two that were not level one, rather, they were level two demon beasts and they looked like adult versions of the level one demon beasts. One was far on the eastern side of the area while the other was on the western side of the area. From what he had gathered, at the moment even if the two brothers were to face off against one of them, they would both forfeit their lives in the process.

In the wilderness like the Monster's Wasteland, hierarchies still existed between demon beasts like they existed in human civilization. What was different was, the higher level demon beasts rarely ever cared about the lower level demon beasts. Therefore, it was not a guarantee that if Timothy and Jacob were to cause a true slaughter, that the two level two demon beasts would act.

However, this was only the case concerning ordinary demon beasts that were level four and under. Normally around level five, ordinary demon beasts would begin to experience a change in intelligence which in turn would make them less inclined to just watch other demon beasts of lower levels get killed. Whether it was similar to a motherly instinct or a protective species instinct, they would take it upon themselves to help protect those living in the same area as them.

As for demon beasts that had a primordial or ancient bloodline flowing through their veins, they would actually completely control the demon beasts actions that lived near them, similar to the one that attacked Boulder Village. After millions of years of researching and of trial and error, humans were still unable to figure out how to use demon blood to control demon beasts.

The closest that humans have come to be able to control demon beasts, were from making special contracts with them. However, this would only be the case for mounts and not what would be considered their "partners" in battle. Any demon beast that had even the tiniest level of combat strength would normally have rather died than to sign their lives away to a human expert.
