Chapter 78

He calculated that these two would be able in most cases to comfortably take on other cultivators their age regardless of level and still at the very least be equal in a one on one setting. As for those with only average foundations, they would not even be considered worthy opponents for them!

The remainder of the day and night passed by quickly. It was now the day that the two would finally be facing the first of the two level two demon beasts, and excitement and anxiousness filled both of their hearts. They climbed up the mountain once more and located where the demon beast was in the western area. It seemed to be awake and moving quite a bit, so without wasting another moment, the two simply nodded to one another before making their way down.

Jacob felt more comfortable with only wielding a single ax during combat and had several techniques he came up with all on his own. However, this time he would not only be wearing his best and toughest armor, but he would be wielding two axes in his hands during this battle. As for Timothy, he had yet to master his earth armor technique, so he had to wear his best equipment as well.

As the two approached the demon beast on opposite sides, the demon beast let out some air from its nose, sort of in a way to tell the two that he knew they were about to make a move against it. Now that they were found out so quickly, both Timothy and Jacob began sprinting full speed towards the demon beast. The first to exchange blows with it was actually Jacob!

Even with the demon beast's eyes targeting Timothy, it used its tail to attack Jacob before charging at Timothy! Jacob quickly blocked its attack, but the force of the blow pushed him back quite a bit. "Tim, be careful!" he shouted because he would not be fast enough to make his way over before the demon beast was close enough to try to kill him with a different attack.

Knowing that he would be alone for roughly ten seconds, Timothy instead of retreating, lunged forward and tried to make the first move against the demon beast. He had just enough time to withdraw a sword from his storage ring, filled it with his energy, and slashed towards the right side of the demon beast's big torso. It would be nice for the blow to have caused even a small amount of damage, but Timothy chose to do this so that he could retreat a small distance while giving Jacob enough time to find his way over so they could try a different tactic.

Unfortunately for him, Timothy realized that the demon beast's skin was far too thick even compared to the level one demon beasts who specialized in defensive maneuvers. His sword which was extremely sharp and durable snapped like a twig, as the demon beast swiped out with his tail, causing Timothy to have no other choice but to take it head on!

After receiving the blow, Timothy felt his entire body shake as he spat out a large mouthful of blood. It was unfortunate, but it seemed like the two brothers were unable to take on a level two demon beast together quite yet, even though they were in a sense both dual cultivators.

Seeing Timothy fall back and in a dire situation, caused Jacob to become extremely angry as he also lost consciousness. When in battle, if a cultivator was used to using a tiny portion of their aura in their attacks and they received enough mental pain, in some rare cases such as this one, the cultivator would lose him or herself to their inner aura and their strength would increase twofold.

This was often referred to as an ability called Berserk State. Since he was no longer conscious, Jacob's body moved on its own like a simple beast looking to kill its opponent. Since the demon beast was still facing Timothy, it did not realize that an extremely powerful Jacob was now closing the distance between them. The demon beast was too uninterested in Timothy, so to finish him off, it simply began to lift its leg so it could just stomp on Timothy's head in order to kill him completely.

Seeing Jacob heading over, Timothy could not help but to pray to the heavens that he would make it fast enough to save him. At the moment due to the mental and physical impact he was experiencing, Timothy was unable to move his body no matter how much he wanted to. Seeing that the demon beast was now actually going to slam one of its front legs onto Timothy, Jacob within his Berserk State simply growled very loudly, which caused the demon beast to turn towards him.

However, the demon beast was still taking this battle too casually, so before it fully was able to turn around, Jacob finally landed next to it and began slamming his fists all around the demon beast's body. Each time his first landed on the body of the demon beast, it groaned in pain as it actually began to retreat. "It looks like he saved your life and that the demon beast is as good as dead." Master Sei told Timothy as he watched as his disciple was not the winner of the day, rather it was his brother.

"Yeah I guess so." Timothy replied before finally losing consciousness himself out of his energy being too depleted. As Master Sei said, Jacob was able to kill the demon beast after several minutes of constantly landing blow after blow. It was not until he finally depleted his strength enough to exit his Berserk State, that Jacob had finally ended his barrage of attacks.
