Chapter 121

Hearing the figure speak, caused both Timothy and Tyler's bodies to shake in reverence as they each without even pausing kowtowed since it seemed that this figure was the intent left by the immortal who had died. Seeing that the two children had manners, cheered the figure up slightly before it was about to continue speaking. However, Tyler was the first to reply which was unexpected.

"Your Heavenly Sword Kingdom was in fact destroyed once its Emperor personally chose to enter into a large scale battle alone. If it was not for the Emperor who had protected the kingdom for countless years, allowing those weaker to prosper under his care having died, it could be said that your kingdom would have still been standing even to this day roughly two million years after the fact." Tyler told the figure as both he and Timothy stood back up.

"My son's personality would have led him down a path of revenge on my behalf. When the both of you become immortals, it is very important that neither one of you take it for granted because even immortals can fall in battle at any given moment. To think that I have existed this long while protecting my master's inheritance really says how weak your Stone Kingdom has been up until now. Well then children, shall we begin the trials to see which one of you is able to take the inheritance?"

Hearing that the figure had existed for over two million years, caused Timothy and Tyler's body to emit cold sweats and goosebumps as they could only nod their heads before following the figure who had begun walking in the opposite direction. "Very good, since Timothy made it clear that he does not want to even compete, it is up to you Tyler to try your best to prove your self worth to me. However, if you fall short, I will have no choice but to reward Timothy with the inheritance instead of you."

"It should not be surprising that within this small world, I was able to see and hear every last thing that has occurred. That little gamble you both took in order to slay that soul beast might have seemed impressive to your standards, but what would have happened if you were both controlled and killed each other? The easiest way to reach immortality may be to have the best of resources, but the easiest way to survive is to not needlessly risk your life."

"As your punishment, we will be skipping the first trial which would be the easiest and you are both going to be taking the second trial. Any and all types of weapons and equipment are allowed except for anything that could recharge your battle qi or energy. I would recommend that you keep this in mind, because if you are not careful, you could forfeit your life in this trial since I was not given any instructions to stop it half way."

Suddenly before Timothy or Tyler could even respond to the figure's words, the figure disappeared and the peaceful little area shifted quickly into a weird looking tunnel like area. There were many different tunnels and paths but the figure's voice began to ring out. "In this trial, there are no right or wrong answers, you both must enter separate tunnels and continue to walk down the paths ahead until you reach the end."

What was strange, was that the two were unable to sense any danger within any of the tunnels, as if they were simply about to walk into a trap. However, Tyler chose to not hesitate after a moment of contemplating what he should do as he headed towards the furthest tunnel on the left of them. Following Tyler's lead, Timothy chose to head into the furthest tunnel on the right. There was no telling what would be within their tunnels, but a trial that seemed dangerous was the most that they could expect.

The only thing that was annoying to Timothy other than the fact that he was now forced to take part in these trials, was that after traveling within his tunnel for over two hours, there was no end in sight or anything remotely dangerous. This aggravated him greatly, because he wanted to try out a new move he came up with seeing Tyler's uncle in combat. If he could even just slightly touch the understanding of a similar technique, Timothy felt that he would be able to use it as a trump card when faced against a powerful opponent.

As a cultivator, Timothy needed to ensure for himself and for his survival in the outside world, that he had plenty of different trump cards he could use to preserve his life. One would argue that by simply learning a top tier movement technique would be good enough for one to flee a very bad scene, it was still frowned upon by cultivators. The reason was, as a cultivator you needed to test your strength and only by facing such dangers and surviving, could you continue to grow your power.

After another had passed, Timothy's face was now darkened to an incredible degree as he wanted nothing more than to even kill the figure that had placed him in such a boring scenario. It was clear that he would be unable to escape the tunnel because the moment he headed inside, the gap behind him closed, forcing him to only have the ability to head deeper within. However, just as he was about to halt his movements to relax, Timothy saw something from afar approaching him at a very swift speed!

Since it was a little dark in the tunnel, Timothy was only able to see that what was approaching him had two sets of eyes, and was clearly a large monster type of creature. Without delaying, Timothy took out his most powerful sword in order to protect himself from the creature that was still very hard to make out what exactly it was. However, after several breaths of time, the creature got close enough to Timothy for him to see what it was; a mud roach demon beast.
