Piggy Vs. Boar

After they finished playing, Roy and Solus got out of the water and dried off.

'I'm getting pretty hungry, but I think I want to try hunting today.' Roy thought to himself, deciding that he would attempt a hunt with his newfound stealth abilities.

"Stay, Solus." Roy said while holding his hand up to his friend.

As he began walking towards the woods, with his hatchet in hand, he started to focus on his surroundings.

The wind whistled through the trees, grass swaying, and birds chirping. As Roy focused he could distantly hear the sound of leaves crunching.

'There!' Roy was elated and quickly, but quietly, made his way over to the sound. He made sure to avoid making any noise that could alert his prey.

As he made it to the location of the sound he spotted a wild boar. 'Inspect'

[Wild Boar]

Notes:

Wild boars have a thick hide and strong tusks. They charge at their prey in order to stab them.

'Seems I need to be extra careful to avoid facing the boar directly...' Roy began to plan in his head the actions he would take in order to bring the beast down.

After carefully observing it for a while, Roy corrected his posture and prepared to launch an attack. He sneaked into the creature's blind spot and swung his hatchet down on its head.

*BANG!*

A loud bang resonated as the boar stumbled around, obviously disoriented from the attack. Using this opportunity, Roy mercilessly swung his hatchet over and over again. Not stopping until the notification sound popped in his head.

*Whew*

Roy released the air he had held onto, and collapsed on the ground. 'Wow, that was intense.' He thought to himself, going over what had happened in his head.

After a short rest, Roy grabbed one of the boar's legs and began dragging it back over to where Solus is waiting.

"Food!" Roy screamed to Solus, in an attempt to get her attention. 'Maybe I should start teaching her how to understand English? It would definitely be beneficial in the future.'

As Roy got into his habit of planning around meal time, he had decided to start practicing speaking, by teaching words to Solus. 'I hope she can learn fast, it would be great to get to talk to someone again...'

Roy pointed at the other two legs and had Solus emulate him, carrying the boar towards the goblin camp from the night prior.

'I can use their campfire to cook the meat hopefully, I just have to get it started somehow.'

As Roy reached the camp, he could see that the fire was dead, not a single ember left. 'As I expected, though hopefully I can re-light it.'

Roy took some charcoal form the fire and began the tried and true stick rubbing session to light the embers.

...

'Finally! God that took ages.' Roy thought as he had a goofy smile on his face. Lightly blowing on the embers, he set it into the dried twigs and leaves. Soon a new fire was lit.

'Let's see... What can I use to chop this? Ah!' Looking around the camp, Roy found a sharpened rock. He picked it up and decided to use it to harvest the boar parts.

Not knowing exactly what to do, Roy started with removing the disfigured head. It had been chopped with a rusted hatchet and he did not wish to consume rust. After the long process of removing the head with a rock, Roy began to saw away at the skin, planning to make a set of clothes and maybe a backpack if there are enough materials.

With the occasional need to stop and add wood to the fire, Roy had spent around two hours to fully dissect the boar. And his efforts were not in vain.

'Well that's convenient! Hopefully this makes next time a lot easier.'

Roy took some of the meat and stuck it on the fire to cook. Smelling the cooking meat, Solus ran over to inspect it. Roy had to quickly grab her and tell her, "No! Fire is hot!" Roy told her before sticking his hand near and feigning pain. "No toushIingg." Roy said before patting her head.

After around ten minutes he pulled some of the meat that looked done out, and handed it to Solus.

"Here you go, enjoy!" Roy told her, smiling. She then took the meat and stuffed it down her throat.

"Buhihihi!"

Taking a bite himself, he savored the first real meat he had eaten since he got to this world. He was absolutely elated, feeling like he was on cloud nine.

'Finally, no more bugs!'

As he enjoyed his meal, Roy began to spread the fur out to dry by the fire. 'I wonder how long it takes to fully dry. It won't be great quality, but it will be better than free balling it like I've been doing.' Roy thought, looking down at his unprotected manhood.

Drawing in the dirt he began to plan out his clothes and backpack. 'Lets see, I need something to tie the edges of everything together, I can't believe I left that stupid rope back where I saved Solus! Seems I'll need to make more cordage for now. I'll also need something sharp to poke holes into the fur.' Looking around, Roy noticed some goblin teeth nearby.

'That should work, it seems pretty sharp. Guess I'll go make the thin cordage while I wait for the fur to dry.

Looking at the sky, Roy could see that it was already well past noon. 'We spent a lot longer in the water than I planned, but it was fun so it's okay.' Roy thought before shrugging his shoulders and walking towards the tall grass to the right of the camp.

'Time to get to work!' Roy yelled internally, before rolling up his imaginary sleeves.
