The next morning, Solus groggily woke up. With a big yawn, she noticed that sleeping on a chair with his head laying on the bed, was Roy.
'Aw, he kept me company, huh?' Solus gave a light smile, before poking Roy in the face with her sharp claw.
"Ow! Wha- I'm up!" Roy screamed out, looking around the room in surprise.
"Hahaha! Sorry, you were sleeping so peacefull-y... I just had to." Solus bellowed out after seeing Roy's reaction.
The two soon went over to their dwindling meat stores and had breakfast, as Solus began asking Roy about her affinities.
"Roy, could you tell me about my affinities? They're Holy Lightning, and Demonic Lightning." Solus turned to him with expectant eyes, awaiting his response.
"Hmm... Those are some really cool names; it's making me excited to learn about them too!" Roy said, as he asked the system and learned the details.
"Wow, it's a bit of a long explanation for both of them, so pay attention. Holy Lightning is a sub-law of the main holy law. Holy Lightning is used for speed enhancement, cellular regeneration, thought processing speed, and it has increased damage to the creatures of darkness and demons." Roy watched Solus, as he patiently waited.
'So I can enhance my natural speed even further, and heal from injuries faster too! That's pretty cool. I wonder what Demonic Lightning does then...' Solus, after completing her thoughts, looked to Roy to continue.
"Alright, so Demonic Lightning is like the polar opposite to Holy Lightning. It is a sub law of the demonic main law. If you can actively use it, you would be able to make enemies hit with it slower, or even make yourself slower! You can make injuries atrophy, slow down people's thought processes, and do increased damage to holy beings." After reading off the information provided by the tutorial skill, Roy continued.
"Finally, if you train these laws, you could imbue normal lightning spells with the laws as well. So even if we can't find or make spells based on them, you could train with normal lightning. The only issue is, I don't know where to start." Roy was beginning to get lost in his own train of thought, so Solus decided to let him be.
'Training the laws, huh? I'll leave Roy to figure all that out, for now I want to try enhancing myself!' Solus then began drawing mana from her Mana Heart. As the mana spread through her body, she felt a surge of strength rush through her!
'This feels amazing! It's like my body became weightless!'
"Hahaha! WOOHOO!" Solus screamed out in excitement as she dashed around the cave. She was moving incredibly fast, to the point where she looked like a blur to the others.
...
After a while, she began feeling fatigued. Reluctantly deciding to stop, Solus drew her remaining mana back to her Mana Heart and sat down to drink some water.

While Solus was enjoying her new ability to enhance her body, Roy was questioning the system once again over runes.
"Ugh!" Sadly, most of what he asked was locked by the tutorial skill.
'Fine, how did the first wizards even find out about runes?! Are they just trial and error discoveries? Do I really need to risk blowing myself up?! God, I really wanna learn magic. Especially now that both Solus and I can do it!' Being slightly annoyed, Roy began drawing out some mana. He formed it into the shapes of some of the nordic runes he remembered from fantasy video games.
"Hah, no dice..." Not even knowing if he was supposed to carve them into the ground or make them in his mind, or even what he just did and write them with magic, Roy continued on stubbornly.
After a long period of trial and error, Roy finally started to get somewhere.
"BUHIHIHIHI! Success! Well, kinda!" Roy looked forward at the string of mana in front of him. The mana was shaped into multiple random 'runes' that Roy had haphazardly made.
"Unfortunately, the runes themselves failed, but the fact that there was that small reaction means I'm on the right track!" Roy was ecstatic, wanting to continue on his experiments. He knew there was a risk, but the temptation of magic was a bit much for a fantasy loving Earthling.
Though before he could continue, Solus came up to him. She had just finished a small snack time after playing for a while and getting used to her new heart.
"Roy, I'm ready." Solus said, as she gave him a serious look.
"You sure? It will probably be dangerous..." Roy said as he watched Solus give a resolute nod.
"Positive." She replied, as she stood up and walked near the entry hole.
"Terren, it seems that the time has come!" Roy enthusiastically told Terren, who was looking over to the pair worriedly.
"I thought we would attack at night, when most of them were asleep?! It's the middle of the day right now!" Terren looked out of the hole as it shone with a pretty luster.
"We are, but reconnaissance is important." Roy then threw the rope tied to a spear up to the top of the hole and grabbed the bottom of it.
"Let's see if I can climb up without it falling." Roy grabbed the rope and slowly climbed to the top, ready to spy on his new enemies.
...
Crouching in the bushes they were in last week, the trio quietly peered at the goblins.
"Seems they're repairing the village..?" Roy quietly commented as he watched the somewhat low dexterity of the goblins repairing the buildings. Roy cringed a bit at the scene, finding their skills to be abysmal.
*Chuckle*
Solus was quietly snickering away as she watched Roy's face. She had never seen him make it before, so it was a very happy turn of events for her.
"Alright, alright. Sorry they are just so bad at it that it almost physically hurts to watch." Roy relaxed his face and turned away from the village. He slowly made his way back to the hole and hopped in.
Soon after, Terren and Solus followed him. Once all inside, They began making their battle plan.
