First Draft Page 63

We waited to see if any ceps had followed us here. We sat in the car for a couple of minutes before getting out, walking up to the front door. I reached for the handle, and it was locked. We then made our way to the back to see if there was a back door we could get through. There was a door, but it was locked as well. Jeremy then asked me if I had a tire iron in my truck. I said it would be underneath along with the spare tire. We walked back to the front, and Jeremy threw himself under my truck. We got the tire iron and crawled out from underneath the truck.

"What are you going to do with that?" I asked him, very confused. He said he was going to light tap the glass door until it cracked then break it the rest of the way. He began lightly tapping the glass, but the glass must have been substantial because it was not budging. Jeremy then stepped back a couple of feet and threw the tire iron at the glass. It went right through and made a loud noise, which had to be heard by any nearby ceps. All of a sudden, an alarm began going off. The alarm was so ear-piercingly loud and caused excruciating pain to all of our eardrums. Rob ran inside and hopped over the counter to find the button to turn off the alarm. He hit the button, and everything got very quiet.

Footsteps could be heard from outside running up and down and in front and around back. We all ducked down and behind the counter and closed our eyes.
