Janice Brummer.

Lucerne, Switzerland.

Jane pressed the doorbell. This was the apartment registered in the name of Janice Brummer.

The door opened. It was a woman carrying a baby in her hand.

"Yes?"

"Excuse me, but does this house belong to Janice Brummer?"

"Who are you?"

She was distressed when Jane mentioned her name.

"I represent the swiss national bank. I am here to discuss the small inheritance that she left under our possession."

"Oh. Ok then. Please come in."

She invited Jane inside. The apartment was small, but it was well organized.

Jane sat on a chair.

"Would you like some coffee?"

She placed the child into a crib.

"No thanks."

She entered the kitchen and asked,

"How much has she left behind?"

"Before I can disclose that information, I would like to ask your relationship with Mrs. Brummer"

"I don't care to admit it, but she was my aunt."

The dejection in her voice was clear.

"Your name?"

"Ava Brummer."

She took out her laptop and searched the database. She wasn't lying.

"Do you have any proof that could confirm your relations with her?"

She came out of the kitchen and said,

"Please wait a minute."

She went towards a closet and took out a small suitcase.

"This is her death certificate."

She took out a paper after rummaging through it for a few minutes.

"I had to sign it as her only living family member."

Jane took the paper from her and took a snapshot with her phone.

---------------------------------------

A copy came out through the fax machine on the other side. Alex took it, memorized its contents, and handed it to Steven.

"Use this as a reference for a proper death certificate."

Steven got to work.

"Tell her that she left around 50000 francs."

---------------------------------------

"50000 francs."

She passed a paper for her to sign and handed her a pen.

"Sign here."

She pointed towards the blank space. Ava signed the paper and said,

"Done. Anything else?"

Jane nodded.

"I will be taking my leave now."

She got up from the place and said,

"The money will be transferred to your account as soon as I submit this. If the money doesn't reach you, call this number."

She handed her a business card.

Ava took it and escorted Jane outside the house.

"Thank you for your time."

Jane exited the door and left.

-----------------------------------

"What else did you notice?"

Alex was keen to ask her some questions. Her meeting with Ava had been pretty short.

"Janice belonged to the fashion industry. When she opened the suitcase, I could see several designer clothes that were preserved with care. Furthermore, there were a few pictures of her with well-dressed people that looked like they were important."

Steven searched the internet with this new information. After a few minutes, he had a match.

"Look what I found."

Janice Brummer, a model in the 80's. There were not many photos of her to go around, but there was an article that went into length about her.

"Renowned Model shot dead."

It dated back to only 3 years in the past. She was shot in the middle of the street, and the killer did not attempt to escape. When the police arrived on the scene, they found the killer lying down beside her corpse, repeating her name.

The police confirmed the murder to be a crime of passion, and the alleged murderer named Jamie admitted to everything. He was a former lover of Janice, who had left him due to his insecure and possessive personality.

He was sentenced to life in prison, and after going to serve his sentence, he killed himself shortly after.

"This feels like a setup."

"Wait a minute."

Jane raised her finger.

"Alex, hand me the mission file."

He took it out and handed it over.

"This is the client, right?"

She pointed towards the picture of Jack.

"Yes."

Jane looked at Steven and said,

"Check for information on his father."

Steven searched the Collective database.

"Ryan Nolan. The founder of the Nolan corporation."

Jane looked at the photograph and said,

"I saw Janice with this guy in one of the pictures."

Jane pointed towards his photo and said.

"Let's go visit the bank first."

First, they had to get the money back.
