The Whisper

"Ready… Set…"

"Wait, have you forgotten something?" Rayla asked while stretching her arms and legs a bit, they were getting ready for the morning jog.

Will frowned and thought for a while before replying, "Not really."

"I need a five minute head start!" she blurted out shamelessly and gave her son a meaningful look.

"Seriously, mom, this is the fifth time you're asking for a five minute head start and each time you promise that you won't ask again!" Will complained as he found it unfair but at the same time he found it interesting every time he beat her and had the chance to rub it in.

"I know, but look at it this way," she pulled him closer by the shoulder and said in a voice that was almost in a whisper, "I'm a girl and you're a boy."

"Yeah, a girl who's just 10 years older than me!" Will mocked but Rayla didn't mind.

"Or would you prefer if I used my status as your mother to force you to let me win?"
