Chapter Thirteen

Sabrina woke up cold. She shivered, sitting up and finding herself on the ground. She remembered the events of last night one by one. She had been on a date with Dimitri when scary beasts began attacking. She had fled with him but got ambushed when suddenly Succubina and Dimitri's sister saved them. Sabrina held her head, still feeling a little foggy from sleep.

Dimitri was completely out cold, but Blanche slept like a candle light. When Sabrina approached her, she got up with a start.

“Do NOT sneak up on me!” Blanche exclaimed.

Sabrina shied back. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "I wasn't trying to sneak up on you."

“I’m sorry, it’s a habit,” She replied. She played around with her chalk, running it on her fingernails. “Is Succubina here yet?”

Sabrina shook her head, "No, I didn't see her yet”

Sabrina overheard some yawning, spotting Dimitri she saw drool coating his bangs. She blinked, not wanting to know how that happened

“Nope! Nope! NOPE!” Dimitri rushed out of the main lab into what she thought was a bathroom.

Blanche raised an eyebrow at the scene. “Really? Him?” she snarkily asked Sabrina.

Sabrina shrugged. "Cute boys are still boys." She said, blushing a tiny bit. "They aren't going to be perfect."

“I can’t argue with that,” Blanch replied. She stepped over to a periscope to inspect something. Curious, Sabrina followed.

"What's that?" Sabrina asked.

“I’m looking for any sightings of that girl,” Blanche confessed, “I’m praying that nothing happened to her, well… we can’t really pray anymore, now can we?”

Sabrina cocked her head to the side. "Why is that? Did you lose faith in your religion?" Blanche didn’t respond, continuing to peer inside the periscope. Not knowing what to do, she reached for her backpack, only to realize it was on the ground where she had left it. Sighing, she trudged over to her bag and sat down, holding it against her chest.

I guess it's a good thing I still have you, Dave, Sabrina thought idly. This whole mess would leave me a wreck without the calm I get from you. She hugged her bag tighter in comfort.

Once she tightened her grasps on her bag, there was an ear bursting knock on Blanche’s door. The knock seemed to be in a pattern. I was safe to assume that it wasn’t the beasts she was fearful of, but there wasn’t any certainty of if they were friendly or not. Sabrina's curiosity outweighed her fear, and she opened the door slowly. She could recognize her missing friend anywhere.

“I’m here,” Succubina panted, “Sorry I kept you waiting.” Without warning, Sabrina had her arms around her friend's waist in a tight hug. “Oh! H-hi.” She patted her head, then gave her a half hearted hug. “Do you know where Dr. Kenneth is?”

Sabrina stood up, breaking the hug and pointing over her shoulder. "Yeah, she's back there," Sabrina answered.

She trotted over to her directive location, “Blankie,” she called out, “Sorry, I must have worried you all.” She scanned the lab, “Where’s DeDe?”

“He went into the shower. Let’s wait for him before you tell us everything about yourself,” Blanche answered.

Sabrina blushed a little. Must. Not. Think into it, she told herself, then peered over at the now glaring Succubina, causing her to snap out of her scrambled thought. She pondered into another thought: a sincere thought. Maybe she'll explain where she went and what happened. Whatever it was, she knew Dimitri would want to hear it. Pulling a stool over, she sat down and started to wait. Perhaps Succubina would know the source of this hell, and hopefully how to stop it.

Shrouded in darkness, and yet free of sin. This was the cold and cruel Raven God, Nyx. This god was under the command of Terminal. If Terminal asked, she had to do as said, regardless of what she had felt. Casting aside her sister was not what she had desired-- not her other half-- her shattered half. The more millennia had gone by, the more scattered her thoughts and emotions had become.

Half of her family was down in the depths of what she had called “Hell” and the other had been a dismissive father, giving orders to what she must do in order to not be casted into the depths of hell. Part of her almost wanted to join them, but she had pushed her thoughts aside.

After so many orders she had taken, as the Raven God-- As man would call the Grim Reaper, she had lost what she thought she was as an individual. She had lost her personality, lost her morality, and lost what she used to believe in. The only personality she was allowed to have now, was just Terminal’s servant.

She wished every day that she would lose what little free will she had, so she wouldn’t have to go through anger and sorrow every day.

She was given an idea, and went through with it. To her, it was the only way for her to be free and see her family once more.

She had requested to find the seed Zander had planted, and to her surprise, the wish was granted.

In secret, she was excited to see her siblings again, but part of her was unsure. What had she become was simply a monster in her eyes.

So if she thought she was a monster, it was time she’d act like one. So, she had one more idea to make sure she was free indefinitely.

She must sin.
