-Izume’s perspective-
Uncle Yagi and I get to T.A and it's HUGE. I mean I'm no stranger to big buildings, my recording studio is the size of a mall parking lot, but the building was about three times the size of that. It was almost completely covered in one way glass other than the roof and the metal bars between the glass panes, it has four big pillars connected by small hallway like things half way up the pillars. “Welcome to T.A Pup.” ‘So he's going to continue to use my old nickname now is he. I kind of expected him to stop calling me that by now.’ “WOW, It's incredible.” I try to sound amazed because if I'm being honest it looks pristine but not in a good way more in a boring way, I just want to get in there, give my gift basket to the principal and get out as fast as possible.
I’m still holding on to hope that it's more interesting on the inside than the outside. “So…. if your done with your freeze frame can we go inside?” I see Uncle Yagi tense up and then scratch the back of his head. I laugh at his reaction. “I thought it seemed cool, but I guess you're right we should go in now.” “you're always trying to make things more dramatic than they really are.” We walk into the school and all my hope dies, it is indeed just as ‘pristine’ as the outside. Plain white walls with a single strip of navy blue in them, not one poster or peice of art hung up. ‘Talk about a creativity killer.’ I just don't understand why you would want everything to be so blank, surely even heroes need to have some sort of creative stimulation so they don't go crazy, but alas the bare walls prove me wrong. At the thought of spending my time in here every weekday I could already feel every atom in my body telling me to run back to Canada and give up on being a hero, sadly I can't do that because I need to show my Uncle that I truly appreciate him taking me in.
“This is where we will be monitoring the applicants.” Uncle Yagi snaps me out of my thoughts, during my internal debate I didn’t realize we made it to the teachers lounge. ‘so this is where I will spend the next 2 hours studying people and their powers. Great.’ I nod to show uncle Yagi I'm ready to go in and the only one in the room is a dog? No I don't sense dog it's more like a huge mouse bear mixture with an eyepatch over his left eye. “Oh hello, I was told you would be joining us Taiyō Izume, you can call me principal Haku. Some of the other teachers will be here shortly.” I give him a bright smile. “It's my pleasure principle Haku, I brought this as a thank you.” I hand him the basket I’m holding, and his eyes go wide with what I assume to be happiness. “Is this-” I interrupt him.“It's pure maple syrup from Canada. I hope you like it, there’s nothing else that compares. I heard you like sweets so you’ll love this.” He gives me a puzzled look and then seems to light up as if he just solved the mystery to the universe. “You go by Jinx when on stage yes?” I nod my head not knowing what he’s getting at. “Do you mind me asking why you chose that name?” I don't have a deep meaning to it, it's only kind of a bad joke but there's no point of lying to look good since anything I can come up with on the spot would sound half-assed. “It's because of my power, when people brag about how strong they are they tend to describe how there power works and after they do that I can use it against them so it's just a big jinx like saying ‘now you can't talk like your almighty because I'm just as strong if not stronger than you all because you were being cocky.’ of course it has limits like if someone is super strong I can only use a fraction of their power because it's physical and if it's something like shifting forms my bones and muscles break and tear because I'm not used to it, although over time the pain will stop, and now I'm getting off topic. sorry. ” I bow and mentally scold myself for rambling although principle Haku seems to be completely fine with it.
He gives me a smile that could comfort anyone and waves his hand in front of him. “No it's fine, I only asked out of curiosity and appreciate you being honest. I was also wondering if you would be willing to sing a few songs at orientation?” of course as soon as he mentions singing I perk up and for the first time since arriving at T.A I actually feel genuinely excited, maybe a little too excited because I can feel my tail hitting my leg repeatedly. “Absolutely, I would love to!” Principle Haku gives me a nod with the same comforting smile as before. “If your home room teacher gives you any grief when your leaving for the ceremony just give him this.” He reaches out his hand/paw that has a piece of paper in it. I take the paper and read it. ‘Don't be such a stick in the mud Yami -Haku’ I giggle a little and give the mouse bear a joyful nod before heading over to the viewing area. A few more heroes filed in during our talk and the exam is going to start in just less than ten minutes. I get as comfortable as possible and wait in silence for the exam to start, I absolutely despise waiting why would you wait when you could be using your time to practice, meet fans, or sleep. I'm always so busy that sleep is almost something that doesn’t exist, on a good night I get to sleep for five hours but most of the time I will only get two to three hours of sleep, the one good thing that I can take out of my hiatus is that I’ll get a full eight hours of sleep at night maybe a little more to make up for some of it I had lost before. I look at the screen and spend an hour watching people write a test, by the time the written portion of the test was almost finished there were more than double the amount of heroes in the room from when it started. As I look back at the screen I see the field test has started and immediately spot none other than the puppy scarer himself. After watching him for a good three minutes I start to watch other Examinees, the only other one really standing out is a boy with light brown hair and gold eyes, when I see him use what looks to be my uncles power I internally curse at Uncle Yagi for not telling me about the adorable young boy he passed his power onto before. ‘I’ll have to talk to him later.’
