Reluctance and Benefits

As the CEO of a world-famous conglomerate, Chan Hu was never talked to like this, especially by strangers. The woman's rude attitude and words made him frown and look unhappy but he swallowed his anger and said

"I apologize for kicking you out. We need to talk."

Chan Hu was a forceful kind of person, he rarely apologized, even when he was in the wrong. However, this situation called for him to take a step down and briefly forget about his pride.

Unfortunately, even after she heard his apology, Lily remained unwavering. She beamed a sweet, kind of mocking, smile at him while saying,

"Apology accepted. Now, let us part ways here, I'm busy."

"Busy?"

'You're jobless and homeless, how are you busy?!' Chan Hu didn't voice out his thoughts, instead, he stepped forth and blocked her path yet again.

"I said we need to talk."

"And I told you that I'm busy."

Unexpectedly, Lily shoved the man's body to the side and resumed walking. As her back was getting further and further away from him, Chan Hu spoke with a slightly hurried tone

"Let us marry."

The woman turned half of her head, glancing at him with an uninterested look.

"No, thank you."

At this point, the quiet secretary, who had initially chosen not to interfere, ran to Lily and pleaded,

"Miss Lily! Please think this through! The marriage is beneficial for both of you. My boss already apologized for what happened."

In response, Lily glared at the silent and cold-face Chan Hu then snorted, though she didn't leave.

Through a meticulous series of effort from the poor Ron, he somehow managed to get both his boss and his to-be wife into the car. Both sat at the back of the car, refusing to look at each other.

"E-ehm… Miss Lily, do you want me to go over the contract's details one more time?"

Ron took out the contract he read to her previously and spoke with a shaky tone. The atmosphere was chilling and one look at Chan Hu made him instinctively shiver. It was more than apparent that his boss was angry so he had to busy himself with Lily, who was, by no means, less angrier than Chan Hu.

"I never said that I'll marry him."

Hearing this, Chan Hu turned his head towards her and retorted,

"Your reluctance to leave and presence her is your show of acceptance, is it not?"

"What? Are you dumb? I was only contemplating my options!"

Lily snapped back at the man, uncaring about his status or what he could do. Though, she was someone who had lost everything so, really, there was nothing Chan Hu could do to her to make her life worse.

Speaking of Chan Hu, he was feeling regretful of his actions. When he saw her in the house earlier, she was silent and obedient but her attitude shifted so dramatically. Not only did he have to swallow his pride, he was insulted and demeaned, which is a first for him.

It was then that the urge to teach her a lesson and make her understand the difference in their status was born inside of him. As unpleasant as marrying her seemed to be, Chan Hu didn't mind, after all, it will make a lot of matters less problematic, which, in comparison to Lily's attitude, are more troublesome.

Moreover, they won't be married forever, just a period of time until things calm down and his parents' pestering stops.

Even after hearing Lily's denial, Ron still proceeded to read the benefits of marrying Chan Hu.

"First, you'll be living with mister Chan Hu, though you won't share the same room. You'll be given a car and, if you want to, a chauffeur will be assigned to you. A sum of 10,000 will be monthly given to you. You're free to move to another home if you want to."

There were a couple more benefits but they were not worth mentioning. Additionally, there were some rules, such as not touching Chan Hu, not going to his workplace, not bothering him when he works, not calling his parents, and so on…

"Are you satisfied, Miss Lily?"

She didn't outright agree, instead, she shrugged her shoulders and complained,

"I can't think over an empty stomach."

Hearing this, Ron was momentarily speechless.

"A-ah right! You must not have eaten all day! Pardon me!"

Without further ado, he put on the seatbelt and started driving, heading directly to Chan Hu's villa.
