Back at home, the atmosphere remained as awkward as it had been in the car. Chan Hu and Lily didn't talk to each other and Ron had to somewhat mediate and make the mood lighter.
"Miss Lily, I'll guide you to your room."
While dragging her luggage, the secretary struggled to climb the long and tiring stairs along the heavy suitcases. Behind him, Lily curiously scanned the luxurious villa.
The most eye-catching thing was the splendid golden chandelier hanging from above. It provided a breath-taking illuminating and added more extravagance to this place.
Wherever you look, there's bound to be something worth thousands, if not millions of dollars, whether it's a painting, a statue, a carpet, or even the wall paint.
Anyway, a bit later, Lily finally arrived at her designated personal room, which was more spacious than she expected. It was even bigger than her whole previous shabby apartment.
Moreover, there was a special dressing room filled to the brim with all kinds of clothes, all originating from renowned brands.
"Are these to your liking, miss Lily?"
Ron appeared next to her, gasping for breath and wiping the sweat off his forehead. He was the one who decorated and prepared this room for his boss' future wife, ahead of time, of course.
"These are for me? Ah! This is made by the Italian Designer, Carlos Bent!"
Not unlike any other woman, when Lily saw the rows of beautiful clothes, she was truly fascinated and slightly excited. She didn't get to wear a lot of expensive and good-looking clothes throughout her miserable life so when she saw such masterpieces before her eyes, it wasn't surprising to see her pleasant agitation.
"Hehehe yes that's right! I'm glad that you like it!"
Sadly for the secretary, she was oblivious to what he said, so engrossed in her own world and testing the clothes in front of a big mirror.
Ron didn't mind that, he patiently waited for her eagerness to speak, which didn't take long as the loud rumbling of her starving stomach could be heard from echoing in the dressing room.
"Miss Lily, you must be famished! Your dinner will be prepared shortly."
Right after saying that, the youth hastily stormed out of the room, leaving a slightly embarrassed Lily behind.
Over the next couple of minutes, Lily turned her new big room, checking everything, then she fell on the absurdly large bed.
"Am I really going to leave here?"
She covered her face and shook her head, feeling as if this is naught but a wishful dream.
Sure, she has to marry Chan Hu but it's not like that's a bad thing.
Countless women yearn to be by his side, some want his wealth, others his love. As for Lily, she belonged to the first category. Personally, she held no affection for the man, after all, she met him for the first time today.
"I must keep my distance from him and build a career for myself!"
Full of determination, Lily jumped off the bed and looked at her reflection in the mirror. The clothes she was wearing were dirty and oversized, she had barely noticeable bags under eyes, nevertheless, that didn't make her any less beautiful.
Even without make-up, her oval-shaped face, eyes as black as coal, dark-red hair, splendid nose and rosy lips made her look absolutely gorgeous. Her instrictival beauty didn't need cosmetics, which is why, back in the day, many of the women in the same league as her refused to get along with her. It's because they were jealous of her face, her body, and especially her enchanting voice.
....
After spending around fifteen more minutes in her room, Lily headed downstairs, towards the living room, which was equipped with a wide black table meant to eat on.
It had more than ten chairs but rarely is it used since Chan Hu either eats outside or doesn't eat at all and he's, more or less, the only resident of this place.
Currently, the owner of the house was back on the couch, back to working so late at night. His secretary, Ron, laid plenty of dishes on the table for Lily then departed, leaving him alone with his to-be wife, who just appeared in the living room.
Her red hair was wet and a towel was around her shoulders. She was wearing a black pajamas that fit her perfectly. Now that she's had a hot shower, Lily felt much more refreshed and ready to fill her empty stomach.
Noticing the lonesome man minding his own business, Lily chose to ignore him and walk directly to the table.
"What are you going to do?"
Hearing such a random question out of the blue, Lily creased her brows and replied
"I'm going to eat…"
Chan Hu did glance at her once when she appeared but then returned to his work, even when he asked her, his eyes never left the documents in his hands.
"No… yout job."
"Ah!"
Seeing an opportunity to annoy him, Lily grinned and spoke,
"I'm not contractually bound to tell you, right?"
"..."
Lily proceeded to gobble up all the food presented in front of her. The delicacies were something she only had when she was living with her family.
At some point, Chan Hu stood up and walked to the table, planning to grab a small cake to eat, however, his stretched hand was poked by a fork.
"My fwood!"
She spoke incomprehensibly and unbecoming of a lady hailing from a rich family. She was eating and speaking at the same time, her fork stopping the man from taking anything.
"???"
Chan Hu glared back at her and tried to shove the fork but she stabbed him even harder.
"Ron prepared this for me!"
She said with a slick smile, making Chan Hu frown. In the end, he snorted and walked to the fridge, grabbing whatever was inside.
In fact, he could've been more forceful but, as Ron previously said, he had very little interaction with women and seeing that she was poking him with a fork, he slightly feared she'd touch him.
Chan Hu hated being touched by women and, from his point of view, there was a chance that Lily didn't know that about him hence his hesitation and backing down.
A bit later, Lily finished eating and stood up, heading back to her room, though she didn't forget to place a ball with a bit of rice on the short table next to the couch Chan Hu was sitting on.
"Here… a wedding gift."
