The American Army compounds had started to run low on food and water. This sent several of them into a crazed frenzy of people fighting amongst themselves before anyone brought logic into the situations. This frenzy even fell on the compound that held Jason who was already packing to leave anyway. The chance for him to leave would come to him sooner than he thought. It all started when the news announced that The United States Of America had fallen into ruin due to the virus holding all the politicians in one place.

On the screen the camera showed buildings being burned to the ground as masked citizens marched down the street. In theirs hands, bottles with burning clothes hanging out of them. They all yelled out about bringing down the dictators disguised in Democracy. Everyone watched in horror as they lined up in front of the white house before bullets and burning bottles smashed into the building. It took a few minutes but they all eventually collapsed out of shock of what had just happened. Soon after the white house got set on fire the screen flipped to a camera within the studio. This new shot showed fifteen TVs mounted on a wall flipping between videos of every state capital being set ablaze.

"How can we let this carry on!" A soldier yelled from the back of the room.

"What are we going to do?" Jason asked him as he stood to face him.

"We could fight them!" He yelled back answering the question.

"We can't even leave this building." Jason said trying to remain calm, but with an edge to his voice.

The soldier walked up to Jason getting so close that locking eyes was the only option they had. The anger was etched all over the soldier's face growing in detail as they got closer. Silence fell between the two as they stared at each other. It was like they had started sizing each other up for a fight to the death.

"Are you trying to tell me that we can't leave here? Even after seeing people marching about wearing gas masks!" The soldier growled as he grabbed Jason by the collar.

"What do we have left to fight for? Everything that we had been fighting for has now been set on fire by the people we protected!" Jason yelled as he shoved the soldier away.

"Thats all the more reason we need to fight back!" The soldier fired back, his words filled with anger.

"What would be the point? That would just make them hate us even more!" Jason yelled as the soldier turned away from him reaching for their bag.

"Where are you going?" Jason asked as the soldier brushed by him.

"I am leaving, because you all clearly don't remember what our job is." Though his voice was calm the soldiers anger could still be felt.

Jason could feel the room growing heavy with sorrow as reality started setting in. He slowly turned away catching each and every face as he did. He walked towards his bunk trying to hide his every growing darkness, but not forgetting to comfort each of his fellow soldiers as he passed them. As he laid his head the world seemed to start suffocate him with its weight. With each breath he took more effort was needed to take just one more. It continued until finally the world seemed to just vanish.

"Everything is falling apart." Jefferson said as he feel back against his car door.

"Yes it is and we the people are taking this country back!" A masked man yelled as he stood over Jefferson's bloodied body.

Over the shoulder of the masked man Jefferson could see D.C. bathed in an orange glow. His home was soaked in fire and anger as people burned buildings while yelling curses at the sky. The life Jefferson whished he had started to flash before his eyes as the chrome barrel got closer to his forehead.

"Say your final words you government clown!" The masked man yelled as the gun pressed against Jefferson's forehead.

"I wish that I could have done more for you, but with my position I didn't have much power in what was passed. I wish I could have had a family of my own before I died. For my final words I will say I am sorry for everything the people of this country has been through." Jefferson placed the barrel of the gun over his eye just before the trigger was pulled.

That night over half of Washington D.C. was lost to a fire and over one thousand workers lost their lives. By the time the sun had rose an official statement was put out saying that the united states had fallen to the uprising. The only thing that remained of the old United States was the military bases around the world. Each of which was now conisdered their own independant entities.

Jason was jerked awake by explosions lighting up the horizon and shaking the earth around him. Screams could be heard in the distance as each explosion emerged from the night. He could barely make out planes in the sky above as they got illuminated by the flames that burned the nearby city. He knew then that everything was lost for the Middle East as well as the United States.

"This is so fucked up." He whispered to himself as he watched on.

A crowd gathered around him as everyone was shaken awake by tremors caused by the bombing nearby. Each and everyone of them knew that even if they tried any effort would be pointless. Each one of them thought "What has the world come to" as they saw the savageness around them. To them it was like anything that made sense had been replaced with purely animalistic attacks. The strongest country was going after the weakest one that couldn't withstand the virus that was released upon it. Is this what was going to be the new normal for the future?
