Chapter 7: After School Part 1

Katara's POV

First period went by kind of casually, I slept and Mr. Iroh didn't seem to mind. We just watched a documentary about the history of tea. No shocker there. But I really wanted to text Aang but I knew he would still be sleeping because we were up all night talking. But I guess I shouldn't dwell on him texting me first because we just met after all and I'm in school.

I was relieved to see Toph in the hallway when I was heading towards second period. I really didn't feel like going because Mr. Bumi was kind of weird and he acted a little cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. But he said that we will mostly be doing experiments which I liked to do. He also was a funny teacher and he didn't really assign homework which I really liked. I and Toph were talking in the hallway for a while because next period didn't start for another 5 minutes so I decided to spend it with Toph. Toph mainly asked me questions about me and Aang's call and I kept trying to change the subject. But she kept going back to it and so I just told her I will tell her more about it later and so I went to class.

Mr. Bumi lectured most of the class and we watched videos on how to make cool chemical reactions just using toothpaste. Which was kind of weird but I wasn't really paying attention. I was scrolling through Instagram and Bumi didn't mind at all. So I just scrolled and scrolled until the end of class and we didn't have any homework except to watch a video on chemical reactions and answer 1 question. That didn't seem hard so I grabbed my things and then headed out of class. I was excited to go to art because Mrs. Yangchen was really nice.

~Time skip end of Art~

We basically just talked about where the colors originated and we drew some pictures of what inspires us. Well, I drew eyes and filled them in grey to mimic Aang's eyes. It's a good thing nobody knew me in that class or that would be very embarrassing. But I was happy that it was the end of art because that meant that it was lunch. And that meant I could text Aang.

Aang's POV

It was around 10:30 when I got up. I'm surprised nobody woke me up especially Appa and Momo because they are usually barking at like 7 in the morning. I stretched a little then headed to the bathroom. My hair was a mess and breath was let's just say not pleasant. So I got ready for my day even though I wasn't going anywhere. But it is still nice to be ready to go out at any time. I went downstairs and saw that Gyatso wasn't home and the dogs were outside. I guess he let them out this morning before he left. I thought to myself. I went to put food and water in their bowls because Gyatso couldn't bend down all the way. I let the dogs in and their breaths were even hotter than mine so after petting them I went to the fridge to see if there was anything to eat. I just made myself a bowl of cereal and went to the living room and re-watched Stranger Things on Netflix because there was nothing to do.

I remembered that I was supposed to text Katara at lunch but that wasn't for another hour and a half so I watched maybe an episode and a half before heading upstairs to grab my phone because I forgot to bring it down with me. How the heck did I forget my phone? I thought to myself heading upstairs. I came back downstairs and looked at the time. It was 11:45. Katara was still in class so I decided to scroll through Tik Tok until the time came.

~30 minutes later~

I looked at the time. CRAP, Katara I thought mentally. I quickly closed Tik Tok and went to my iMessages. I found her contact at the top.

*In Messages*

Aang: Hey Kat. Sorry, I lost track of time. U kno Tik Tok and all :)

Katara: It's fine Aang. Nothings really happening during lunch anyway. Sokka is being super weird, Zuko and Mai are just making out and Suki is getting her food. Toph isn't here yet but she will be.

Aang: It would be even more awkward if I was there just sitting there but whatever. But let me ask u somethin Kat

Katara: okayyy???

Aang: do you really think I'm CUTE? -Katara turned 5 different shades of red at the lunch table and Toph just happened to walk up to her. "So what are you blushing about princess?" Toph questioned. "Oh, nothing" Katara replied quickly looking back at her phone.

Katara: ...

Aang: is that a yes...

Katara: Ummm maybe...

Aang: good to know

~Timeskip End of Lunch~

After that Katara and Aang just spent the entire lunch period talking. Katara would occasionally talk to Toph but she mainly was on her phone until the end of lunch.

Katara: oof lunch is over. I gtg. But I will txt u after school. Also, can I come over to drop off your stuff?

Aang: Oh ok. Yea sure you can. Want me to pick you up?

Katara: Sure! But can u get me during free period?

Aang: Yep!

Katara: See u soon

Aang: See u

*End Messages*

Let's go!!!! I get to see Katara today and I'm picking her up. Ooo she might be hungry. Knowing school food all of one day I assumed she didn't really eat it. Maybe if we stop somewhere before we head to my house. Aang thought to himself about all the possible activities he could do with Katara after school before heading back towards his house. He was so excited to know that the cutest girl he has ever talked to is going to be in his car less than 3 feet away from him. A tiny blush crept towards Aang's face.

~Timeskip 30 minutes til Free Period~

3rd Person POV

Katara was zoned out during English with Roku because all she could think about was Aang picking her up. The only thing she had to do was tell Sokka. Knowing her protective older brother she thought she should tell him as she is on her way out because Sokka had a class 7th period so he wouldn't check until the end. Katara would just face whatever 'punishment' Sokka would give her later when she gets home later.

Meanwhile, Aang was showering again because he wanted to be 'fresh' for Katara and didn't want to smell bad. So he took another shower he washed his hair with Head & Shoulders, which surprisingly smelled really good. He dried off and went to his closet. He grabbed a white shirt, some ripped jeans, his Vans, and an orange sweatshirt that was hanging up. He fixed his hair. He put deodorant on and one spritz of his cologne. By the time he was done, it was time to get Katara. He had a little pep in his step as he bounced a little heading downstairs.

He put a note on the front table for Gyatso just in case he wasn't home when he got there. Aang doubled check that Appa and Momo had enough food and water before heading out. He grabbed his phone and keys and waved to the dogs before heading towards his blue Prius. He buckled up and started driving to Katara. On his way, he was listening to his Spotify and the song that just happened to play was 'Mood Swings' by Pop Smoke. Pop Smoke was one of his favorite artists so he just started to play his music before he arrived at the school.

Katara was waiting patiently on the front stairs. She was on her phone looking through her photos to see which one she wanted to post to Instagram because she hasn't posted in a while. She heard a noise in the distance. She could sort of depicting what it was but she wasn't sure so she looked back at her phone. Less than 2 minutes later and she heard the same sound but it wasn't as loud. Then she saw him. Aang. Aang and his blue Prius pulling to the front stairs.

Katara couldn't help but smile when she saw Aang because for some reason Aang didn't have to do anything just be in her presence to make her smile.
