Chapter 5

"So... You say your father is no more?, How bout your mum? "... Rose father questioned, looking me over like a prized deer.

Choosing my word lightly I gave him a reply in the best cool manner I saw dim fit. "She's doing just fine, she's working as a nurse at the local hospital".

"Uhm... Good. And how well are you doing with your studies?".

"Just fine sir... Erm, Rose should be able to testify to that". I said stuttering on my words.

Not sure if he should go on enquiry about the young man before him, he turned to his daughter. "Rose?"

"Dad... Like he said he's doing fine, Jake's a brilliant student and I assure you of that". She said with a forced smile.

"That's good to hear then"... He said slightly amused.

"What type of sport do you participate in son".

"A guy with a physique like yours should be in one or two and even top them. Eh?"

Mrs. Puckett not liking the way things seems to be turning out decided to come into Jake's rescue.

"Honey, I think that's enough questioning, this food before us won't eat itself".

"And you know I hate for food to waste". She added smiling to him.

"Ahem... I have to use the rest room". I asked looking at Rose. "Mind showing me the way?".

"Sure". She replied, happy to be free from the tensed atmosphere in the dining room.

"Woah... I thought I'd freak out out there". I told Rose as soon as we were beyond earshot.

"Huh... That's my Dad for you, guessed I should have warned you before now". She said giving me a sorry look.

"I would very much appreciate that next time".

"Did you really want to use the rest room or what". Rose asked unsure.

"Nope, that was just an excuse to cool my nearing freaking nerves". I told her.

"Come here Rose, what do you really like about me, like what got you noticing me all of a sudden?".

"Erm. Jake... People change, don't they?"

"Everyone's aware of that I think". I asked letting out an unsure expression even when I knew what she was driving at.

"Jake... Let's just leave the details out of it, people grow to like one another".

"Guess I found out too late what a wonderful person you are". She said peering into my eyes

"Huh... Okay then".

I was about to turn my head from starring at her and ending the awkwardness when I felt her lips on mine. I felt my wolf retreat deeper into my mind from revulsion. Ignoring him I focused on what's presently happening.

She has the most softest lips, maybe cos she's the first girl ever that I've kissed. That's in record though. I felt her tongue trying to gain passage into my mouth, I tried to gain dominance this time by groping my tongue inside of her mouth, she tasted like peanut jam. We continued to grope for dominance and was so engrossed in it that we got lost to our surroundings.

"Ahem... Rose?, Your father asked me to check what's taking you both long enough to return to dinner". She said with a little smirk plastered on her face.

"Erm... We'll be right behind you mum". Rose said jittering a bit

We followed silently behind her stealing glances at each other. On getting to the dinning table, I found out Mr. Puckett was almost done with his meal.

"Like how many minutes did I spend with Rose?". I thought.

"I see... You had a lot of difficulty in showing Jake the rest room right". Mr. Puckett asked not looking directly at his daughter whom he was asking but at me.

Rose didn't bother to answer him, she just went on eating her meal.

"You look at me when I'm talking to you young lady, I am your father". He said annoyed.

Rose stood up, half dragged me up and was leaving the dining room when she turned and complimented her mom on the meal.

"Thanks mom for that wonderful meal, it's a pity I couldn't finish it, since some people don't know how to eat in peace in this house". She said almost raising her voice. Never had I seen her in that kind of mood before.

"Jake... Let's go". She said, and I left with her

Mason's POV

"I can't believe all this is happening too quick, how the hell is it possible that Jake turned out to be the super cool dude everyone wanna shake hands with now, even pretty Rose have a crush on him". He asked no one in particular but himself.

"At this rate, I'm gonna lose him".

"Let's just see the turn out of event". He said half trotting to the pub downtown.

♀♀♀♀♀♀

"

Heard you left the confinement of the building?". A red headed woman asked a rather pathetic looking young lady.

"What do you have to say for yourself Dabbie?".

"Cos, I'm aware you know the danger lurking around this place and how high the stake of other supernatural finding you is, with you being the last of your kind".

"I'm so sorry Lady Diane, just wanted some fresh air that's all". Dabbie answered back in her well cut out accent.

"Uhn. Fresh air you say?, You mean to say we suffocate you here?". Lady Diane asked prancing gaily, in her lady like manner which is too weird for her , being a witch.

"No... I didn't mean that way, I just wanted to have a glimpse at what it was like out there". Dabbie responded not raising her head a bit.

"Hmmm... Be careful next time, cos I promised your dead mother that I'll protect you on my life, how am I supposed to do that if you're not within my eyesight?".

"It won't repeat itself again".

"I promise"... She said and made to as if she was leaving but stayed put, having remembered she hasn't been dismissed yet.

"You can go now, I want you to be ready in an about one hour time for the counsel's meeting, your presence is requested there". Lady Diane said, studying the young lady that stood before her.

"Oh how she's grown". She thought within herself. "She looks just like her mother, a spitting image of her, her coal black hair, glistering blue eyes, and also the way she walks, isn't she something sweet".

"I'll make sure of that". Dabbie responded bringing Her back to her self.

"Sure, now run along and don't be late".

As she watched the young girl move towards her chamber, she couldn't help but wonder at 'her little adventure some days back, Dabbie never mentioned it, but she knew, in fact not only does she knows, the whole coven knows.

"Let's just hope this meeting turns out as expected". She thought and left towards her own chambers in high anticipation of what was to follow in the meeting.

An Hour Later

"Daine... You're very much aware how much harm could come to her and this coven if she was discovered by the Lycans". A rather young looking witch asked, she looks to be the head of the coven, being over a thousand years old but not looking a bit like it.

"I'm sure of that Lady Ellen, she's also realized her folly, I promise she won't have to leave this confinement again, I'm also sure she'll take note of that". Lady Diane said, nudging Dabbie .

"Yes Lady Ellen, I'll make sure of that, and I promise never to commit such folly again". She answered not meeting one of the twelve witches eyes since she's been in the room.

"You make sure of that, You don't know what being a Mage means, even being the last of your kind". An equally young looking witch answered named Lady Mirabel.

"Then this meeting is dismissed then, Dabbie... You can go to your room now". Lady Ellen said.

Dabbie stood up bowed and left without glancing.

"I just want to be free, not confined to this place". Dabbie said as soon as she got into her room.

"Now, there's something about that guy I last saw by the woods the other day, isn't he something". She said smiling to no one but herself. She plopped up on her bed after discarding her shoes to the farthest corner of her bedroom and thought about her so called little adventure.

That night she had a smile plastered on her face while she slept, something she's not done in a very long time after she lost her mother.
