NELLIE'S P.O.V.
"Please leave me alone; I did nothing wrong...why are you hell-bent on tormenting me? " My tired legs couldn't move any further, and my eyes were struggling to stay awake. Even when I tried acting strong, my voice sounded weak, and it was obvious I wasn't fooling anyone.
"So, why did you run if you knew you didn't do anything wrong?" As he spoke, the boy lowered himself to my level, his interrogating eyes scanning mine, and I felt my exhausted body weaken even more.
My jelly-like arms wrapped themselves protectively around my baby's bed, my legs, which felt more like vegetables, were spread carelessly across the dirt, and my eyes fought to stay focused as they stared at a boy determined to ruin my life for unknowingly fainting by the side of a busy highway.
