Own Enemy

As Aminu drove me back to my place, I was calm and barely responded to the conversation he was trying to have with me. My mind was preoccupied with the thoughts of the conversation I had with his mother.

Her words kept coming back to me, If I were to have a son and he grows up and brings a woman like me home, will I allow him to marry her? If I were to be a man can I date myself?

I am a changed person and the things I used to do in the past, I no longer do them, especially since I met Aminu my life has taken a turn for the better.

I belong to the school of thought that says we shouldn't judge people by their past, but sometimes the things we did in our past, does come to hunt us. And this time I'm a victim, a victim of my own undoing.

"Okay something is obviously wrong." Aminu said as he turned facing me.

"Why did you stop the car?" I asked him when I noticed he already parked by the side of the road.
