Chapter 14

Sarah's Mom looked very concerned, "Kids, he knows something. The Director doesn't leave his office unless it is for a press conference. I need some time but we have to move. Let me make a plan."

Sarah looked at me and then back at her Mom, "Ethan will protect us Mom. He can do anything. I know it."

She patted Sarah on the head and went to the back office to begin a contingency plan just in case things went sideways.

Brute hacked up a little bit of dog hair and grass, "My apologizes, that was disgusting. My thoughts on this children are that the Director knows Ethan has powers. He will stop at nothing to capture him to perform tests and other examinations on the poor boy. Be ready to move when Miss Jenkins says so."

Sarah stayed calm after that exclamation but my worrying was so bad that I couldn't calm myself down, not even with my abilities. I didn't want to be taken away and tested and experimented on.

Turning to Sarah, "We have to tell your Mother Sarah. I am not safe and that means you guys are not safe either."

She smiled at me, like she usually did, "With your abilities, we are all safe. I'll go tell my Mother anyways but you are overreacting. I promise."

She hugged me before she walked down the hallway to brief her Mother on what Brute said. Brute came close to me and stood by my side the entire time.

After a short wait Sarah's Mother came out of the room with Sarah in tow. She was dressed in all black with papers under one arm and a heavy looking briefcase under the other. Her right hand clutched Sarah's as she prepared to exit the house with us.

Stopping in the middle of the living room, "Kids, Brute, it's time to move. We're going off the grid and under the radar."

We followed her outside to the car we arrived in. I scanned the car and found that it contained a GPS device under the right wheel well.

As I approached the car, Sarah's Mother look concerned, "What are you doing Ethan?"

I didn't answer until I had detached the hidden device, "This."

Sarah and her Mother clapped and hugged me. I had eliminated one way for them to find us.

That should at least buy us some time to figure out the next move for us and recharge my abilities.

With one tracker out of the way how long would it take for them to find us?
