The Killer's Card

"It's been so long since the last time I saw you. I never thought you'd come here yourself," Dominic said while opening a huge gate.

"Cut the small talks. I'm here for that thing," I said without looking at him.

"You should learn how to be a little bit nice to me, Jabez. I can always put a bullet inside your brain," he said while looking at me.

I laughed, "What a nice joke," I said. He opened the gate and there we saw a huge machine and over a thousand people working. "Nice business you've got here."

"Right? It cost me a lot, but it's worth it," he replied.

"So? How am I going to get that thing?" I asked.

He looked at me with a huge smile on his face. "How about a kiss?" he jokingly said.

"How about a kiss from my gun?" I said sarcastically.

"You're so violent," he replied.

"Said the guy who just threatened me earlier that he'll put a bullet inside my brain," I said while frowning at him.

"Alright, I'm just kidding. Let's get to business. The thing you wanted to buy is called Ricin. It's a great weapon but you need a huge sum of money to buy it," he explained. We walked to his office to talk more about Ricin. "I'm surprised you knew about this already. I haven't presented this to the public," Dominic said after we got inside his office. He offered me some tea.

"I'm smart. I studied a lot when I was in college, so I know what ricin is. I also know that you're the only one who's stupid enough to produce a lot of it," I replied.

"Damn! Your words are like a knife into my heart," he jokingly said. "Yes, you are right. I'm the only one who knows how to use this and how to create it. Soon, I will let the public know and sell this to the black market," he explained while showing me the sample.

"I never knew you were going to use your knowledge in this kind of stuff. Mr. Summa Cum Laude," I said while looking at him.

Dominic Lopez is one of my classmates in college and I admit, he's the best. He's super smart and popular. He's the genius who knows a lot about science and experiments. He's like a future scientist, but I never thought he'll use his knowledge and create this dangerous thing right here.

"Stop it! You're making me blush," he said while hiding his face. He's been my friend for a short period of time, but he became obsessed with me. He keeps on insisting that we were a couple even though I'm not even talking to him. "By the way, this is the sample. I won't give you the real one yet. I need to make sure you are going to pay me," he said while holding the sample.

"Rest assured, I will pay you. Tell me, how much?" I asked.

"This small bottle will cost you 5 million dollars," he replied.

"Alright," I answered shortly as I pulled out my check inside my coat. I looked at Dominic's face and he looked surprised. "What?" I asked.

"You didn't even hesitate! It's 5 million dollars, you don't get that money every day. How can you throw it away just like that?" he exclaimed.

"I'm not throwing it away, I'm buying something," I replied.

"Yeah! You are buying something this small and it cost you 5 million and you didn't even hesitate?" he exclaimed. "You must be filthy rich now, you don't get 5 million in just a day."

"I'm glad you know. We're just the same, I'm also using my knowledge on something. Stop the unnecessary talks and accept the money already," I said after I signed the check.

"Your work sure is suspicious, but thanks for being my first customer. I assure you that will do the trick," he said with a smirk on his face. "Do you know how to use it?"

"You aren't the only one who's smart," I said as I smiled at him. "I'll get going now."

"Yeah, goodbye. Mr. Jabez Wilkes, one of the smartest kids that has the same IQ as mine."

I looked at the window of my car as I drove off to Dominic's place. I finally got to have this. It is pricey but, I know it's worth it. Dristan's going to love this.

~

It's already midnight and Jabez is still not back yet. I wonder what kind of business it is? I'm worried, what if something bad happens to him? Maybe I should call him.

"Hello?"

"Jabez! Where are you?" I asked.

"On my way to the company, don't go home yet. Meet me at your office," he said before hanging up.

Did something happen? I decided to go back inside after receiving a call from Jabez, I'll wait for him inside. I closed the front gate before entering the elevator. I grabbed my keys in my pocket when I saw someone standing in front of my office. "Jabez!" I exclaimed.

"Dristan."

"You startled me! I thought you're on your way," I said as I opened the door.

"I just arrived. I came through the underground parking lot," he answered. "Where's your bodyguards?" he asked.

I paused when he asked that question, I looked at him and smiled. "I don't need them, so I sent them home," I answered.

He immediately frowned, "I told you, you need 2 or 3 hired men with you every time I'm not here. Why can't you listen to me?" he exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, I just don't feel comfortable," I replied.

He took a deep sigh, "I can't let you roam around without any bodyguards even if you're just staying in the company. You know we can't let our guard down, what if something bad happens to you?" he asked, worried.

"I know, 'm sorry. How about you? What kind of business did you attend?" I asked as I took a seat.

"It's about the job that I'm going to do tomorrow," he replied.

"Are you sure you can do it?" I asked again. He may be the best hired man we have, but the target is high profile and has a lot of connections. It won't be easy to get close to him.

"Yes, that's why I bought this," he said as he pulled out something in his coat. It's a small bottle with brown powder in it.

"What is that?" I asked. I think I have an idea what it is.

"Ricin," he answered. My eyes grew wider, how the hell did he obtain this dangerous thing? "And this will be the one who'll kill Chris Liam. It's my trump card."
