Chapter 30 : Lé Soleil

Lyte opened the door for the ladies to enter before entering the restaurant himself as he was taught to be polite when it comes to holding the doors for others, especially for women. He walked in and his eyes glinted at what laid before him.

The restaurant in front of them looked as if it was designed professionally. It was wider then he had expected as well. Lé Soleil that looked like an average sized restaurant from the outside now seemed like it was as big as a football stadium. Fancy tables with either maroon or teal coloured table cloth placed on them were arranged in a manner that was both random and neat at the same time. Chairs of similar colour scheme depending on the table they were placed with cushioned seats and backrests looked as if they were made out of silver as the metal of the chairs shone brightly. Illuminating the whole room were white crystal chandeliers with candles holding blue flames that steadily burnt in the still air of the enclosed space. The only source of coolness was from the air conditioners well hidden behind decorative flowers hung around the interior of the restaurant.

Now that Lyte thought about it, it seemed that it was a perfect place where a wedding would be held rather than a casual place for fine dining.

As Lyte continued to admire the whole picture, Lisa was trying very hard to contain her excitement. The saying beauty is in the eyes of the beholder was true at the moment. For while Lyte admired the decorations and structures of the building, Lisa was admiring the food getting served. Her eyes had a glimmer in them as she could see and smell the delicacies that were served to the other customers. Her hungry stomach fiercely growled in synch with her thoughts as the stomach wanted to be filled and her wanted to taste the food. She did not even thought about how expensive the food there might be.

"Come on, we are going to sit at Table 13 over there," Snow broke Lyte's and Lisa's moment of admiration. They turned around to see Snow began walking to a table.

"Hey, what the?!" Lisa yelled, causing everyone in the restaurant to turn their heads towards her.

"Lisa, not now. I will explain when we are seated," Lisa knew better, for once, and kept her mouth shut as she and Lyte followed Snow to a... a white table?

They sat down and a waiter presented them with the menus and recommended the specials. He then left them alone to look through the menu and decided on their order. They could place their order when they were ready by ringing the little bell placed in the middle of the table, placed next to the vase containing a medium sized bouquet of white roses. The other tables has a vase of other floral as well but only theirs were white, along with the tables.

"W-wha-"

"I understand that you may have a lot of questions right this moment. But please order first before you do so,"

"Okay, fine. What do you think you're going to order, Lyte?"

"I don't know. I've never been here before. And in all honesty, some of the food sounds very weird. What the hell is a mandrake?"

"Oh, that's a type of plant that won't stop screaming when removed from the soil. Imagine it as a screaming potato. Hearing their screams would make one's ears bleed. Some even became deaf after hearing one screams," Lisa enthusiastically explained.

"Oh, that sounds scary. So what will you order?"

"I'm not sure yet. Let me look through it more,"

"Sure. What about you, Snow?"

"I will order the stuffed king crab with pheasant egg fried rice and a bowl of deep fried tarantulas. Maybe I will order a choco blood milkshake too,"

"Choco blood? What's that?"

"In short, blood from a chocolate type candy citizen,"

"Candy citizen???" Lyte's curiosity bested his hunger as he continued asking Snow more questions about said weird beverage.

"This requires a little bit of history. Once, there was a lonely mage. She had no friends due to her unattractive appearance and introverted personality. The only 'friends' she ever had, which she assumed were her friends, were the desserts she ate day and night like a normal person drinks water. One day, she decided to make her 'friends' come alive, and she did. She created a whole new species which is now known as candy citizen. They can only be found near a witch's home where the witch will provide shelter to them and in return, they will let the witch collect their body parts to become food. Due to their ability to regenerate any taken parts almost immediately and their inability to multiply, they are very welcomes guests to the witches. The candies in which they were made out of are the most defined sweets one can ever taste,"

"*scoffs* Wow, I can't believe you have the heart to allow a hopeless creature to suffer just to satisfy your taste buds,"

"I see, well I am going to assume you are a vegan, Lisa. Then tell me, why are you looking at a picture of roasted animal while drooling? Do you not find that compulsive?"

Hey, I am not a low life, cowardice vegan. Don't make assumptions,"

With that, Lisa could feel the stares of some of the other customers on her, boring a huge hole on her head with their intense stares. She knew she had said the wrong the and had offended a lot of people there but her ego allowed her to continue facing forwards with no shame.

"Well then, you cannot call me cruel as you too allow innocent animals to be killed too to, oh what was that phrase, 'satisfy your taste buds',"

"How dare you. That's not the same. The animals I eat are already dead, they will no longer suffer. But the candy citizen will keep on suffering whenever you take a part of them as food,"

"... They feel no pain, Lisa,"

"It doesn't matter. Whoever drinks that stupid choco blood milkshake is a merciless monster!"

Suddenly, the three heard a loud and deliberate cough from beside their table, beside Lisa. They turned their heads to see a fair lady looking at Lisa. In her left hand she held a glass of what they could only assume was a glass of choco blood milkshake. She glared with menace at Lisa and took a sip from her glass. She then turned around but not before commenting loudly to her friends sitting at their table.

"My, my. We have an uncultured, armature young witch over there that think drinking chocolate is cruel. Brings shame to us 'real' witches, no?" she said and her friends laughed.

Lisa was embarrassed and was about to stand up to confront the lady but Snow hissed at her to remain seated. Snow then stood up and walked over to the lady. After a few minutes, she returned to her seat and picked her menu back up.

"What did you say to her?" Lisa asked, fearing for her reputation.

"I just told her that you knew better and did not mean it but was just saying that to try to piss me off. Then I apologized that we had disturbed their dinner,"

"That's not true,"

"It does not matter, what matters is it had been settled,"

"Snow's right, Lisa. It's over now so let's just worry about what to pick for dinner,"

"Fine. So, who's paying?"
