Chapter 31 : Restaurant Privilege

"We are going to pay for our own meal," Snow's reply seemed to throw Lisa into a pit of despair as her face fell in an instant.

"Wait, what? Are you insane? I can't afford the food here,"

"That is funny, I thought you were the one who excitedly led us here. So I assumed you already have a plan on how you were going to pay for your meal," Snow stated plainly as she kept her gaze on the menu on her hands.

"I thought you were coming along to pay for us?!" Lisa was internally panicking.

"Do I look like I am made out of money to you, Lisa?" Snow shot Lisa a look and quickly look back at the menu.

"Of course. Technically speaking you are the only one who has a job among the three of us,"

"Still not a valid reason for me to be responsible for paying for your dinner,"

"Ladies, ladies. Calm down. How about I pay for our meals? There's no need to fight then, right?" Lyte sensing a fight about to break out immediately surrendered his wallet, silently crying inside.

"If you wish, Lyte. You can pay for the both of you, I can handle my own check,"

"Fine! Lyte, thanks for being a kind gentleman unlike miss cheapskate over here!" Lisa said as she leaned towards Lyte, planting a kiss on his cheek. Her sudden action made his cheek flushed a little.

"Well then, I think I am ready to order. How about you two?" Snow decided to let this pass once more. She did not need her appetite to be ruined again with this sort of act of love. It repulsed she who had a heart that could no longer love.

The two sitting across from her nodded their heads, telling her that they were done with their decisions as well. Snow picked up the bell in the centre of the table and rang it. Almost immediately, a waiter showed up at their table, a tab ready in hand to take down their orders.

Lyte ordered a bowl of spicy seafood noodles, not knowing there was something odd in it. He also ordered a plate of fries and fried mandrakes. For drinks he just ordered a cup of espresso. Snow ordered the stuffed king crab with pheasant egg fried rice and a bowl of tarantula along with a large choco blood milkshake as she had stated before. Lisa ordered a plate of well done steak along with a plate of baked lizards stuffed with potatoes. She also ordered a cup of marshmallow tea.

After confirming the orders, Snow told the waiter how their check would be paid. He then nodded, bowed and walked towards the kitchen with their orders in hand. The three started chatting as casually as they could manage while they waited for their food to be prepared.

"So, now may we have our explanations?" Lisa was tired of Snow avoiding telling them anything.

"Alright. Let me start with this whole restaurant thing. I have to admit that I have been here quite a few times before. I am quite familiar with the staffs here. That was why I could order a table for us easily. And I am guessing you are wondering why our table is the only white table," there was a pause as Lisa and Lyte nodded their heads with interest on their face.

"Well, like I have said before. They know me quite well, and they decided that when I visit, they will morph my table to suit me as a sign of their friendship. That is all. Nothing more can I say about this matter," Snow said with a shrug.

"Seriously? You think we would buy that story? Witches befriending a reapress? What a joke," it was obviously Lisa who made that comment. She highly doubt anyone aside Lyte could want to befriend a reapress like Snow.

"Believe what you want. I am afraid that in this world, there are more open minded witches towards soul collectors compared to people like you. They understand how difficult it must be for us, although they cannot fully understand the pain, but they still showed kindness," Snow said as she decided she wanted to move on from this topic, but Lisa being Lisa would not let it go. She had a feeling that the reapress in front of her has a more sinister side than what she allowed herself to show to the public.

"I bet you forced them into befriending you. What was it? A manipulation spell? Or did you threaten them. Or perhaps you bribed them with cash. Come on, you can tell me and Lyte, we'll keep your dirty secret, won't we Lyte?"

Snow just rolled her eyes and tried to think of a way to change the topic. Her patience was wearing thinner than Lisa's rational thinking skills. She decided to answer the question she was asked during the whole saving Thomas event.

"Anyway, I remembered that I still owed you two an explanation. Mainly on the topic of what I did to Tiny that made it jolt back,"

"Yeah, I was wondering when you'd tell us about that," Lyte said with genuine curiosity.

"I still want further explanation on this restaurant thing since your last story ain't convincing me," Lisa said, crossed.

"Fine, Lisa. Right, so the thing is, I have this thing about my eyes. My left eye had been cursed. It is a long story so I will not go into detail about that,"

"Aww, come on, Snow. I want to know, please?" Lyte asked, feeling that whatever it was would be too much of an interesting story to pass.

"Lyte, I do not want to bore Lisa with my back story. I am sure she just wanted to know what Tiny saw,"

"No, no. Go ahead. Just say your sad life story, whatever," Lisa pretended not to be interested but in truth, she was the more intrigued one compared to Lyte.

"Okay, so the story goes like this..."
