The two spent their afternoon going around the market. Megan dragged Victon to so many food stalls, he wondered if her stomach was a black hole. She's so skinny, where did all food go?
"Victon! Here try these beef skewers" Megan said holding out the skewer. Instead of taking the skewer, Victon bend down and took a bite. Megan blushed at his flirty antics.
Before she could even refute his act, a child bumped into her. Looking down she saw a dirty small boy in rags holding five bread loaves. The boy was stunted by the beauty that he ran into, but quickly came out of his zone to turn back and see the buff man that's chasing him. "Thief! Catch that boy!"
Seeing the man coming closer, the boy instinctively covered himself behind the beautiful lady that he ran into. Megan would immediately understood the situation, held her palm out to stop the buff man from grabbing the boy. "Sir would you be kind to say why you were chasing this poor little boy?" Megan asked as she covered the boy with one of her hands.
"This little brat is a thief! He stole five of my loaves and ran off!" The buff man yelled.
"I'm sure when you are here chasing the boy, you left your stand unattended... when you go back, you will only find more of your loaves gone" Megan reasoned with a scoff. "How much for the five loaves? I will pay for the little boy."
"2 gold coins!" The man said.
"You're ridiculous! Five bread loaves for 2 gold coins? No wonder he stole your bread! Who could afford that?" Megan yelled at the man.
The man looked at Megan up and down, then grabbed one of her hands tightly and said, "if you can't afford it then I wouldn't mind if you sell yourself sweet-"
The man couldn't finish his words as a sword was pointed next to his neck. Victon had a menacing aura and wouldn't hesitate to kill this man on the point for laying his dirty hands on Megan. He saw the man eyeing her and was ready to dig out those eyes... not to mention the foul words spewing out of his mouth, telling her to offer her body in exchange for some bread. "Get your hands off my girl, scram or I'll have your head rolling!" Victon said with a low growl.
Victon let his sword scrap the man's neck, signaling that he would chop his neck off if he don't leave this very second. Catching the signal, the man broke in cold sweat and ran for dear life. He wasn't going to lose his head over five loaves.
After the man ran away, Victon held her wrist up to see her skin turning red with a hand mark. He became furious and murmured, "I'll fucking kill him." Megan who heard his words took her hands to hold his face so they were looking at each other's eyes. "Victon, I am fine. Thank you for the save" she said with a gentle smile showcasing her dimples.
Megan then turned to the little boy who was behind her. "Are you alright? Did the man hit you?"
The little boy took a step back to get a clearer look at the lady and said, "I'm alright, thank you for protecting me." He gave a bow to both Megan and Victon.
"Do you have to place that you are returning to? Do you have siblings? You got so much bread" Megan inquired.
The little boy was hesitant to replied, but he had trouble the two so he spoke truthfully. "Yes, well they are not my blood siblings, but I consider them to be my brothers and sisters."
"What's your name little one?" Megan asked gently.
"...Nathan, milady."
"Alright Nathan, will you show me to your place? I can come visit tomorrow with some treats for you and your family" she said with a smile.
Being born and raised in the streets, Nathan was suspicious and skeptical at everyone. But he felt no bad intentions from her... the young lady was like an angel radiating the nicest aura he have ever seen.
Nathan nodded as he led the way to his home.
Victon followed Megan without a word as he could see Megan's intentions to help the boy.
"Sorry Victon, we will go home after we give these kids a visit... I'm planning to come back tomorrow and give them some of the bakery's sweets."
"Hm, I'll go wherever you go" Victon replied.
Nathan led them through the market and into the slum part of the capital. They walked through alleys turning into this street and there until they arrived at an abandoned house. It was barren land surrounding the old looking house, it a pretty big house with one floor. Nathan opened the front door to a living room with ten kids of different ages. They looked at Nathan who was holding five bread loaves and gathered around him. Then they noticed two tall figures behind Nathan, a beautiful young lady and a strong looking man with a sword. The children got scared when they saw Victon's sword and so they hid themselves behind old broken furnitures.
"It's alright guys, they won't harm us" Nathan said easing the children's fear.
"Who are they Nathan?" A boy asked raising his brow. Megan looked at the boy who was about the height of Nathan and thought they were of the same age. Only Nathan and him were tall, the other 9 kids were smaller.
"I was chased by the owner of the bread stand when they helped me" Nathan answered.
"Good afternoon, my name is Megan and this is Victon. I wanted to see how many of you guys are here, so I know how much sweets to bring for you tomorrow" Megan said with a smile. "My family owns a bakery, so I thought of giving some sweets to you guys."
"What's the catch?" The boy asked suspiciously.
