Spirit Pet Heritage

Long San made the rather hard, but necessary decision to let his father die at the parade without intervening.

He had spent too many years being chased because he did stupid things. It didn't mean that he wouldn't get revenge, but that he needed time to get revenge and he could also get clues from his father's corpse if he had to. However, if there was one person he didn't want to let die this time, it was An Ai. She was simply too useful for him because of their spiritual fusion ability. Basically, he could turn her into one of her spirit pets for a limited amount of time.

A spirit fusion ability was when two spiritualists, or people who used spirit pets, were able to make a skill by combining powers, and in their case he could actually reverse summon her to fight for him. In Long San's world, pretty much all resources between sects and even countries were decided in team battles in tournaments.

The Tang Dynasty was in control of over the 4000 cities, including Spirit Mountain, and in the future Long San could use this to his advantage.

There were several different types of team battles, 2 v 2, 3 v 3, and 5 v 5, with 5 people team battles usually having insane prizes. However, what Long San was must excited about was the 2 v 2 battles later down the road. If he could reverse summon An Ai, it would really be a 3 v 2 battle, but because she'd be considered a spirit pet it wouldn't be against the rules.

An Ai had to be whom he regretted dying the most for this very reason. However, this life, he'd make sure not a single soul knew about this ability. Not even An Ai herself could know until much later down the line.

He smiled, and looked at himself in the mirror and studied his young features, his brownish almost black hair, and his rather innocent eyes. He was rather scrawny, but had enough definition in his muscles that he was considered highly attractive by most women. This was perfect! He could now feed his spirit pets with ease, and do the most horrible deeds without anyone caring.

Luckily, Long San worked in a Green House. In a few minutes, his father would die, but during that time he would make sure his Grey Lord Caterpillar got to feast on the strongest spirit pets!

"It's time for your meal," Long San said with a smile on his face after walking up the stairs in the green house and getting food for the spirit pets that he knew loved him so very much. "Come out, come out and eat!" All the level 30 dragons and phoenixes and other powerful spirit pets on the 4th floor of the Green house ran over to Long San. They were very smart spirit pets, but trusted him after spending 5 years with him. "Come! Come eat the best meal you ever had!"

'The Grey Lord Caterpillar has one unique ability at level 1 that I always wanted. It's called poison bait. I heard that the first evil spiritualist practically went over the entire planet to try and catch one spirit pet. It's able to completely make any spirit pet that eats its poison paralyzed as long as it's below the divine rank."

Spirit pets ranks related to their heritage. There were nascent rank spirit pets, normal ranked spirit pets, awakening ranked spirit pets, divine ranked spirit pets, god ranked spirit pets, and omnipotent spirit pets.

His Omnipresent ranked spirit pet, even though it was level 1, still had quite a powerful effect over anything beneath the Divine rank. Since Spirit Mountain housed some of the weakest sects in all of Tang Dynasty in their green house, it was quite natural that there were no spirit pets above the divine rank. Since his spirit pet was in the Omnipotent rank, even though it was level 1, it's poison bait skill was deadly!

He put down the food and watched the spirit pets begin to eat as he looked outside. The sound of screaming from the parade tragedy that meant his father died should've already happened, but it didn't seem to occur yet. Would he have enough time to save him after all?

'Maybe things will be different since I went back in time. I guess last time I was at the parade with my father? Don't tell me, the sick bastard who killed him wants me to watch?'

Long San watched a beautiful blue neck dragon smile as it reached down and ate some of its food. It looked so terribly happy that Long San felt a little bad, however, he didn't come back in time to be nice. He came back in time to first and foremost get revenge for everyone who slighted him! If they didn't slight him, he wouldn't have this burning sense of vengeance in his heart.

"Rrr?" The spirit pets around Long San looked like they got drunk before 1 by 1 they toppled over. Long San sighed, and held out his hand before a light glowed on his chest.

"Grey Lord Caterpillar. Please make sure they don't feel too much pain. Devour them quickly, though, I want you to be level 20 by the time we leave here today. Hopefully, by later, you'll already have acquired three other skills."

"RRRR! RRRRRR!" The Long Neck Dragon screamed and then it died like the rest of the spirit pets. It couldn't move, and the Grey Lord CAterpillar ate it rather quickly.

"Good, well, now… how do I explain what happened?"
