Waiting in Line

Long San, who almost never got mad, was beginning to literally feel his teeth begin to grind up against each other from his rage.

There was three spots left in line, and he was almost certain when he got to the gate they'd close the door on him. Headmaster Lu was right by the door, looking at the time.

"Well, of course, Headmaster Lu, the guy who loves the daughters of the White Sect's An Family, would personally be here to greet me. Maybe, in a few days, I'll go visit his family to make his life a thousand times worse. No, maybe a million times worse.'

"Ah, last two families can go in. Long San! Sorry, the time is up!" Headmaster Lu said, smiling and walking over to him. "You know, we're sorry you lost your job at the Greenhouse. What is your family going to do without the income?"

"Headmaster Lu, I've already got a new job working with your wife." Long San smiled and jokingly pulled out a card. "She wants me to give her a back massage tomorrow. I guess she'll have to reveal her back to me. Thanks for being so concerned."

"You-you little shit! And here I was going to let you see the god ranked insect shell!" Headmaster Lu looked at the piece of paper that actually had his wife's Spirit Machine number on it! "Where did you get this? My wife is back at home! She'd never personally give this to you."

'I called her when I found that in your desk, idiot,' Long San snickered. He really had called her yesterday to come visit and give her a massage. He happened to know from his last life that her back was hurting and Headmaster Lu was doing everything he could to earn more spirit tokens to help her.

Spirit tokens were the form of currency that those in the Tang Dynasty used. Basically, pieces of metal were put in spirit pet cores and the longer they were in the core the more energy the devoured. Basically, there were three types of coins, 10, 100, and 1000 types. The 10 types were in a spirit core for 10 minutes and 100 for 100… The type of spirit pet core also mattered. If a piece of metal was put in an omnipotent spirits bet core for even 10 minutes, it be worth at least 100,000 times more than a nascent spirit token!

Long San didn't get why it had to be so complicated, but regardless, he took advantage of the fact he knew what he knew about Headmaster Lu's wife. After all, he wanted to go to his house and see if he had any other things hidden from Black Heart Palace. His wife was a great entry point. He finally replied to Head Master Lu's taunt.

"I-I met your wife and saw her leaning over in Spirit SQuare, so I decided to offer her my services. My spirit Pet, the Silver String Insect, really makes it easier for my hands to get soft. I promise, she's in good hands."

"I-I see, and here I thought you were joking," Headmaster Lu stopped raging and looked at the doors closing. "Stop, let Long San in. He's going to be helping my wife!"

"But sir… You said," The two guards somewhat trembled. "You-you ordered us to… you know."

"Let him in!" Headmaster Lu looked aggravated and waved Long San to tne entranceway. "Hmph, I'm from the government. I don't care what others in the White Sect say! Let him see it!"

###

Long SAn walked into the White Palace and looked up at its splenderous halls and paintings.

Frankly, he'd seen thousands of time more opulent places in the future, and wasn't too impressed. Yet, compared to where he lived, it really was a heaven on earth.

There were thousands of expensive artifacts and antiques with paintings and some even seemed to have spiritual energy inside of them. Only painters that had spiritual energy could make such fine antiques and artifacts. That meant these were probably extremely expensive.

'I should break all of them,' Long San sighed and walked over to check out the Godranked Insects spirit shell. He sighed, and didn't think he'd get too impressed before he looked at it.

The shell was black and white, and seemed to have some signs that a spirit insect just recently shed its skin. Since it was a godranked spirit pet, that only meant one thing, it probably turned into an either higher ranked god rank spirit pet or even an omnipotent spirit pet!

'This-this must be why the insects attack this year. There is probably a new dominant insect on the mountain that wants to lower the numbers of insects on the mountain,' Long San pondered while he felt a few eyes on him. 'However, if this really is a god ranked insects spirit shell, how come only 5000 people died. Shouldn't the insects it controlled have been able to wipe this town out?'

'I might have to be careful. There might be someone over level 90 nearby.' Long San nodded his head and turned around. 'Oh great, and it's An Lang again. I wonder what he wants.'

"Long San, I finally came to give you your food," An Lang smiled and dropped hte plate he was going to give Long San on the floor. "Ooops, is this the third time I dropped it? Hahaha! Such a shame."

"You know, I've been wanting to do this for longer than you can imagine," Long San looked in his memory for an appropriate speed type spirit technique and found one called the speed feet spirit technique. "An Lang, if we fought, who do you think would win?"

"I'm level 35, hahaha, and have 2 spirit pets. You know that with every spirit pet you get a lot stronger right? The benefits of each spirit pet are compounded."

This was extremely important and also why spirit cavity dilation was so important! At 100 percent dilation, you could hold 10 spirit pets once you reached level 100! At 40 percent, however, you'd be limited to only 1 spirit pet, but the amount of spirit pets you could hold in your spirit cavity increased exponentially passed 60 percent dilation.

An Land had 70 percent of his spirit core able to store spirit pets. Long San suggesting he could beat him was a joke.

"Surely, you must not be suggesting you want to hit me for dropping this plate."

"Well, you're from the weakest family in the White Sect, so I doubt they'll caer," Long SAn prepared walked a step closer to An Lang. "So, what do you say. If I hit you, can you keep it a secret."

'Go ahead and try you piece of shit,' An Lang thought. 'Then I can claim self-defense. You may have found a way into my sisters bed, but if I can break your legs, hahaha! Good luck returning!' An Lang smiled and puffed out his chest. "Sure, how about this. You hit me once, and then I hit you once."

"Have a good night," Long San activated speed fee and instantly appeared in front of An Lang so fast that he could barely believe it. The next moment, he tried to activate his spirit pets defensive shield but felt a powerful force exploding towards his body.

'NO! I won't be able to defend in time!' An Lang tried to move his arm down to block Long San's attack before he felt a swirl of energy hit into his body.

Swoosh! Boom!

An Lang instantly coughed out blood before he shot 10 feet back. Almost instantly, he dropped on one knee before he felt like he needed to vomit. He leaned down to where he'd dropped Long San's food and started to fall towards it. Never in a million years did he expect him to be so strong.

"Oh, that's food for good people," Long SAn kicked An Lang away from the food and walked towards the door. "Remember, if you tell anyone about what happened, I'll hit you even harder next time,"

Long San walked out the door and looked back to make sure no one had entered the room. Nope, An Lang probably paid all the guards to leave. So ridiculous. It was clear that Headmaster Lu and him were working together, but they had no idea who they were up against.

'Sleep well, An Lang. Tomorrow. I'll pay you back a million times more for making me wait in line!'

Long San left into the darkness. In the morning, he had so much to do.
