Chapter 6 - Lessons

"As the young lady of SYC, you will have many events and meetings to attend to. And most of them require you to know the proper way to dine without embarrassing yourself or me." Young-hee said with a solemn tone while continuing to take a sip of her drink.

She then continued on to say, "Most of the events will take place at high class korean restaurants, but sometime there will also be some foreign invitations. So you also need to learn about Western etiquettes."

Before Young-mi could reply, Young-See then added, "Since you have only just left the hospital, you can just rest for now. The lessons and tutors will be all sorted out by Albert, so you don't have to worry."

"Yes, mother." Young-mi replied. Compared to the lessons that she had in her past lives in murim, she shouldn't have any problem learning such harmless lessons right?

A week had passed by and Young-mi finally started her lessons. The lessons all took place in the manor by home tutors that had been hired by Albert, the lessons were: English, Western Etiquette and Korean Etiquette.

Young-mi did great in her English lessons, in fact the tutor was surprised that she was able to fluently speak it after a couple of lessons which even made the tutor think that she had lived in a foreign country before.

Young-mi managed to ace her English lesson without any problem, in fact she was able to speak it fluently in the end, the tutor even thought she was speaking to a English foreigner.

However, as for her etiquette lessons, especially Wester Etiquette it didn't go smoothly as her previous English lessons did. She managed to get all of the movements all correct but they struggled in getting her to smile; it took them a couple of lessons in order to get Young-mi to produce a single smile that can be qualified as a pass.

Her tutors even began to think that she had some kind of problem with her brain that prevented her from showing emotion or something. But of course, they didn't dare to complain that to her face since she is now the young lady of SYC, one of South Korea's most prominent corporations.

'How is it possible that I'm actually exhausted?' Young-mi thought to herself while lying flat on the bed with her eyes staring at the ceiling, feeling completely powerless and drained.

Even though she had managed to just barely pass her etiquette lessons, she would still have to continue her lessons to practice making a natural smile. Afterall, a gentle and natural smile is the most important in etiquette.

Later that day, Young-hee and Young-mi had dinner again as usual; the two had become so accustomed to it that they no longer felt awkward about it. Most of the time the two remain silent when eating, especially Young-mi who never took the initiative to start a conversation and most of the time it was Young-hee who does. But even then, the two only talk about the lessons since Young-mi doesn't want to talk and Young-hee doesn't feel good about asking about Young-mi's personal past nor does she want to talk about her own.

Young-hee did, however, talked about the current situation of the Sung Young Corporation as well as the shareholders that she has family relationships with.

From what Young-mi has gathered so far from Young-hee, SYC's has many shareholders but most of them have a blood relationship with Young-hee such as her cousins. Of course, the one with the highest is Young-hee with a share of 51% of SYC.

Through tradition, the shares of the company have alway been inherently passed down to one of their chosen offspring. Due to special reasons, this tradition will likely to continue to be upholded; if there is no descendent to inherit the shares, then the owner will have his or her share divided among the other family shareholders.

However, no matter how thicker blood flows compared to running water, she will never allow her share to just be divided to those "blood" relatives of hers. As for the reason, Young-hee has yet to tell her but from the way Young-hee speaks about her family, she knows that she clearly hates them.

Young-mi does know that Young-hee plans to give her inheritance to a boy that is currently studying abroad. From what Young-mi knows so far, the boy's parents were close friends to Young-hee but they both died in a car accident so she took the boy in as her own when he was still little. But even if Young-hee does want to let the boy inherit her shares, she couldn't; so that is where Young-mi will come in.
