Act 6

“Why would I trust you?” Lily roared. “I’ll do anything for you, just name it and I’ll do it.” Mat said. Lily crossed her arms while looking up, “Hmm... anything huh? Well, I want you to leave me alone! How about that?” then she walked out and proceeded to the back of the library and leaving Mat where he stood. But Lily knew Mat, he was persistent and that wasn’t the last time she will ever see him. She opened the lock and went inside and she made sure to lock it again behind her, after that she sprinted to the archives and went to the section where she found the previous book. When she arrived at the section, she quickly scrolled through the entire shelf of book and articles. It took her half of the day but eventually she found what she was looking for, it was another old book but this time it was slightly bigger that the first one. “Finally, I’m one step closer” she said and put the book in her bag pack, reorganized the contents of the shelf and hurried out the library. By the time she went out, Mat wasn’t standing at the edge of the street anymore. She signed in relief and casually walked in the direction of her apartment. When she came home, she pulled the book from her bag pack and placed it on her desk. It slumped on the desk with a loud tub. It was like a tome and it didn’t age much as well except for a few scratches on the over and overlapping pages. She opened the it with great excitement and the first thing she read was the forgotten alphabet and lexicon of the tribe. Her eyes grew wide upon seeing this and she asked herself “How come I never saw this before.” It consisted of the various symbols and their respective equivalent to the alphabet we us now. There were also symbols and runes that were inscribed in the book she reached the book of incantations and placed it beside the tome, some of the symbols in the book matched the ones in the tome. She was now able to understand the language of the Nature’s Purist but she must return to the mansion to tell Xavier the good news. But before that she used the remaining hours of the day on studying some letters and symbols so she will be prepared. Morning came and it was a work day, she did her weekday routines and a few minutes she was ready for work. Before leaving she took a glance at the two books and pondered whether she should take it with her or not but she decided that she should leave it behind. Lily did her work as usual; returning books on their shelves, helping people find books etc. All was well and good until someone slumped a book with a soft thud on her desk, Lily flinch at this and looked up to see who it was but her shocked face was replaced by a look of annoyance. “You really were persistent Mat, that was the only good thing about you. What do you want now?” she said softly. “Well I came here to borrow a book.” he said while raising the book. “I’m not stupid Mat, you are anything but a reader so cut the crap. I know why you’re here and it’s not going to happen ever.” she said suppressing her anger. “Ok, you got me but I am serious Lily, I am sorry I really am and I am serious when I said I would like to start over. Please Lily give me chance. Lily slumped into her chair and crossed her arms. “I stand by my convictions and I am busy right now, I don’t have time for relationships right now so if there nothing else Mister Andrews, the door is right there” she said while pointing at the door. Mat sighed in defeat and slowly walked to the exit while Lily watched him. She still got the feeling that he will be back but she was too infuriated at the time so she went back to work.

Lily woke up the next day not by the sound of her alarm clock but by a call from her phone. She quickly grabbed the phone and answered the call it was from her boss. “Hello, sir?” she said groggily. “Hey Lily, is its Josh you should take this week off again I got to do a 3-month sanitation today. Those pesky mice are in our walls again. The pest control said it would take 4 days so I’ll give you guys the week but be back in a week alright?” Josh said. The sleepiness was washed from Lily’s face upon hearing this and she practically jumped from her bed. “Seriously? Oh my God, are you for real boss? Oh, you really are a grace from heaven” she said cheerfully. “Save me the flattery Lily, and you guys deserve it anyways and also I don’t have a choice so enjoy the week.” Josh said ending the call. Lily stretched with satisfaction and happily made herself breakfast, while she was preparing decided that she would visit Xavier again to tell him about the tome. After breakfast she took a shower and prepared her bag, she was bringing both the tome and the book so she used a bigger bag pack this time. It took 15 minutes for her to prepare then she took off but when she opened the door there were a bouquet of roses on her doorstep, she picked it up and noticed a card was attached to it. The card had only one word was written on it, “PLEASE” she knew who it came from and threw it in the nearby trash bin and continued on her way. She arrived at the mansion without anymore disturbances, she quickly went in front of the door and knocked with excitement. The door creaked open slightly and she saw Xavier’s white eyes in the crack, “Hmm. Your back earlier than last time” Xavier said. “I got some great news to tell you.” Lily said with a big smile. As Xavier was removing the chain lock, he had a tingling feeling that there saw another person approaching, he opened the door and using a tentacle, he pulled Lily in while simultaneously shutting the door. “Hey what was that for?” Lily hissed. “Someone was following you here” he said sternly. Lily’s eyes grew wide and asked who was following her. Xavier raised Lily to the peephole so she could see for herself, she could see the faint outline of someone walking the path to the mansion. She couldn’t recognize who it was until the person walked out of the tree line, “That guy just doesn’t quit, he even followed me here” Lily puffed in anger. Xavier pull her away from the peephole as he also looked through it “Do you know this person” he asked still raising her up. “It’s that douchebag Mat again, he’s been following ever since he came to town.” said crossing her arms.
