CHAPTER 10

~Wednesday~

Maya had woken up early for the first time in ages, and Noelle wasn't yet awake. "Weird, I'm awake and Noelle isn't," Maya said surprisingly. She went to Noelle's room to find her still sleeping. Luckily for her, Noelle was a light sleeper so she woke up at the slightest touch. Maya saw that Noelle's alarm clock hadn't been set, so she concluded that that was why she hadn't woken up.

"Noelle wake up it's morning," Maya said. Noelle stirred in her bed before she woke up. "Huh, what the hell is going on," Noelle asked. "Well I'm awake and you were not, and your alarm didn't go off, so that kind of sums this whole thing up," Maya answered calmly. "Ok thanks, Maya, but we really need to get to school right now," Noelle said fixing her bed. Soon after, Mya left to go take a shower, and Noelle prepared breakfast. Since there was no time she made cornflakes.

"Noelle I'm done now your turn," Maya said coming down the stairs. "Ok, you have to make your own breakfast, that I know you can do," Noelle said. She went upstairs and took a bath, as she came out Maya knocked on her door. "Noelle, Noah is downstairs waiting for you," Maya said. "Tell him he should leave without me I'm dressing up," Noelle said. "I told him, but he insisted on waiting for you so he's down in the hall," Maya added.

"Tell him I'll be down in five minutes," Unlike most girls, Noelle didn't take long getting dressed. She never bothered to put on make-up and other stuff, if she was going to be a lipstick. Not long after she descended the stairs wearing a simple outfit. She was wearing a black oversized sweatshirt, black jeans, and a black Adidas.

She flung her backpack on her shoulders and went up to Noah. "Woah, who's funeral are you going to," Noah teased. "Yours, after I've killed you," Noelle said pretending to strangle him. "Ok, enough playing around let's go," Noah said. It was 7:15 am so they had a little bit of time before the teacher came to class. "Maya told me to tell you she's going first," Noah said. "Yeah, I figured," Noelle said chuckling.

They reached class with time to spare. Noelle listened to music and Noah read a book. Noah removed the headphones from Noelle's ear and handed her a book. "Hey, what gives," Noelle said annoyed. "You always listen to music, read sometime," Noah said. Noelle turned the book to look at the title," The adventures of Sherlock Holmes," Noelle said quoting the cover of the book.

"Just read it, you'll find it interesting," Noah suggested. Noelle gave in and started reading the book, which true to Noah's word she found intriguing. Noah longingly stared at Noelle, admiring the expression on Noelle's face as she read the book. Noelle caught him staring, but Noah quickly turned his head focusing on his book. Noelle didn't take note of it and continued reading the book, which she admits was interesting.

The teacher soon entered the class and started her lessons. They had social science that morning. As she continued teaching she asked Noelle a question. "Ms. Silver could you tell me the answer to the question I just asked," The teacher said. Noelle stood there not able to answer the question because she was too busy reading the book. She turned her head at the touch of Noah and saw the answer written in his palm.

"Ms. Noelle I'm waiting," The teacher said getting impatient. "Yes, madam, socioeconomic is the social science that studies how economic activity affects and is shaped by social processes," Noelle answered correctly. "That is correct, now next time pay attention," The teacher said. From then on Noelle put the book aside and focused on the lesson being taught, in fear of getting yelled at again.

Classes ended and Noelle continued reading the book. " Now I know I'm the one who brought this upon myself, but could you put that book away so we can go get a snack," Noah said regretting his decision of giving Noelle a book. "You can go and get some food, and while you're at it could you get me coffee with milk," Noelle said handing him some money."Now I've turned into your personal butler?" Noah asked. "That is correct, now carry on don't keep me waiting," Noelle teased. "Yes, mistress," Noah said going along with Noelle's teasing.

Meanwhile, the few left in the class were astonished at Noelle, and Noah's behavior toward each other. They initially thought that they were getting together because of the project work, but it had ended in the morning so they saw no reason why Noelle and Noah got along. One of Noelle's classmates came up to her, "Noelle, why are you and Noah hanging out are you dating or something," The girl asked. She was called Chantelle, and Noelle didn't like her because she thought she owned everyone just because she was fabulously rich.

"Chantelle, I don't have time or your stupidity today, we're just friends," Noelle answered not looking up from her book. "Rude, you know I can make my father fire your parents from their puny jobs right," Chantelle said. She didn't know Noelle's parents were no more. Noelle was clearly annoyed cause she showed it on her face. "You can try," Noelle said. Chantelle was shocked at her words and stomped off.

As Noelle snapped out of her trance, she noticed tears streaming. She quickly wiped it off her face. The thoughts of her parents' death came crashing down on her. Through her toughest times, Jason was the one helping her, so hearing her parents being uttered by Chantelle made her angry and sad at the same time.
