All they could do was watch. Eyes wide, as the country they had worked tirelessly to get back, blew into a million pieces.

Niki quietly lead y/n over to the main part of L'Manburg, the both if them too overwhelmed by the havoc that entailed to speak.

"NO!" Tommy cried out from some distance away.

"YES!" Dream fisted the air.

(Two different types of people)

"L'MANBURG!"

"Wilbur did it!" y/n tried screaming to Tommy, "He pressed the button!"

"Wilbur?.." Tommy asked, hurt, as he ran over to y/n. Niki had ran to assist Fundy in the other direction.

"Yeah I didn't see it happen though. Phil told me to run-

"Dad's here?!"

"There's a lot to explain... And what the fuck is happening here?!" y/n questioned, only just glancing around, taking in what had actually just happened.

"Technoblade. That's the answer to your question," Tommy replied.

"You what?"

"It's Technoblade going on about government or something-

"Where's Tubbo?" y/n panicked.

"I'm here!" the brown-haired boy yelled, jumping over the large gaps in the ground, and huddling with them.

"Tubbo, thank god you're safe!" Tommy exclaimed.

"Or should we say... President Tubbo," y/n tried to joke, but it backfired, as Tubbo instead started crying immediately.

"Oh I'm sorry..." y/n apologised, feeling tears prick at her eyes too.

"No it's okay it's just... I'm the president of nothing," Tubbo uttered through sobs.

It was too much to take for the three of them, so they leant on each other's shoulders for a while, and cried. Time seemed to stop around them. They cried for L'Manburg, for their home, for each other and for everything they'd lost.

You could have everything taken away from you so quickly, and it was a slow process to gain it back.

The three of them were only pulled back into reality, as they were approached by Niki and Fundy.

——

"You might wanna look," Fundy whispered quietly, pointing to the left of them.

Wilbur and Phil were stood talking.

"Wilbur..."

Phil was holding his sword out in front of him. Everyone quietened down as they listened.

——

"Kill me Phil. Kill me," Wilbur said, almost... pleadingly

"I can't, your my son!"

Wilbur started whispering into Phil's ear, as he leant in for a hug.

Phil's sword pierced through his chest.

——

Tommy broke, along with Fundy, Niki and Tubbo.

But for once, y/n understood. No one should hate Phil for this, Wilbur was too damaged, it was what he wanted. Phil just happened to be the one to pursue his wish.

"It's going to be alright," the girl comforted.

"No, it isn't," tears stopped pouring out of Tommy's eyes, flashing a fiery orange colour instead,"Not until he's gone."

Tommy pointed at Techno, as he got his weapons ready.

"Technoblade, stop!" he yelled over to where Techno was preparing withers.

"Do you really want to do this To-

"WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO REMIND YOU-

"TOMMYINNIT STAY RIGHT OVER THERE!" Techno shouted back. y/n had been right after all. Techno b-betrayed them.

"Is this an act of heroic, is that what this is? Do you think you're a hero?" he asked, pacing.

"No I just-I just wanted L'Manburg."

"You wanted power."

"No I wanted my home, I TURNED DOWN power, I-I trusted you!"

"Tommy I TRUSTED YOU ALL TOO! And how do you repay me? By replacing ONE TYRANT WITH ANOTHER!"

Tubbo flinched at his comment.

But no one was a hero. Tommy was far from being a hero, same as y/n, same as Tubbo. They couldn't even save L'Manburg.

"Tommy here's the thing... about this world," Techno began, "Good things don't happen to heroes Tommy. Now let me tell you a story, a story of a man called Theseus..."

y/n only listened to the rest half-heartedly. Life wasn't some Greek story, it was... real life.

"But if you want to be a hero Tommy, that's fine," Techno announced loudly.

"Technoblade, you don't have to do this! We can talk it through no-no one's the hero we don't have to-

"Do you want to be the hero Tommy?"

"No I-L'Manburg was-

"THEN DIE LIKE ONE!"

Chaos erupted, as Techno placed the final wither heads, summoning three withers. Fireworks lit up the sky. No one liked those anymore, especially not in the same colours as the one which nearly lead Tubbo to his death.

Their fate was inevitable.

"We have to kill him," Tommy ordered, taking charge.

"Tommy we can't that's your-

"Tubbo, I don't care anymore."

"It's all destroyed," Niki cried as exploding skulls flew past their heads.

"It's not all destroyed yet Niki. Help kill the withers."

"Everyone, this is a team effort!" y/n yelled, trying to gain some order. However, her voice was drowned out by the cries of the people.

This was supposed to be a happy day. They'd taken back L'Manburg, they'd won.

y/n walked away from the scene, as some followed, whilst Techno continued rambling. The withers had nearly been dealt with.

Was it worth trying anymore?

"So... this is L'Manburg," Tommy began, "Look around Tubbo, your the president now."

The brown-haired boy looked around, he didn't know where to start, but he'd figure it out.

Phil approached them.

"He did it, he pressed the button, the madman," he said quietly, barely looking at Tommy.

"Hey... yeah he's mad," Tommy's eyes averted from Phil. Although he was here now, he'd never been a father figure to him. He'd always favoured Techno. He still would.

But an understanding about why he killed Wilbur was felt.

"Be safe kids," Phil muttered, wandering off.

——

The three of them ambled away from L'Manburg, and over to Tommy's house, taking their seats on the small wooden bench.

Tommy placed a disc in the jukebox, as they looked over and into the sunset.

"So, we should rebuild," Tubbo decided.

"Yeah but... we don't have to start work yet right," Tommy sighed half-jokingly.

"A new era of L'Manburg starts tomorrow," he confirmed.

"Tubbo just because your the president it doesn't mean you have to start talking all fancy," y/n laughed, for the first time in a while.

The three of them sighed, looking around them. They'd figure it out soon. L'Manburg could be rebuilt, with work sure, but it would be.

"We're going to rebuild, and finally... get those discs back," Tommy stated bravely.

"Yeah it's not the end of this story... it's barely just begun," y/n added.

"And now it's just us, versus Dream."
