A Good News

Just like that, they arrived home.

Park Mun-Hee was alarmed when she saw her granddaughter come back home in tears.

She immediately lifted her in her arms as she asked, "Jin'er, why are you crying?."

Kim Hyejin did not respond to her and instead continued crying.

So Park Mun-Hee turned to her daughter to ask, as she carried Hyejin in her arms to sit on the sofa.

"Why is she crying? Did you hit her?."

Park Hayoon glanced at her mother as she took a seat on the sofa. "Do I even need to hit her before she starts crying?."

Park Mun-Hee wiped her granddaughter's tears with her palm and consoled her, before turning to her daughter to inquire further "Then why is she crying?."

"She wanted Ice-cream, and I rejected that idea. So I'm sure you know now." Park Hayoon said with a tinge of annoyance in her voice.

Park Mun-Hee glanced at her, "Why didn't you get the Ice-cream for her?."

"Mother have you forgotten that her diet needs to be monitored strictly?. She doesn't need all those junks that wouldn't give any nutrients to her body. And she needs to maintain a healthy diet if she wants to have a good figure, and a healthy body." Park Hayoon said in reply before standing to her feet, and leaving the living room for the pair.

"Where are you going to?." Park Mun-Hee called out to her.

"I'm going to rest." Park Hayoon replied as she left their sight completely.

Park Mun-Hee could only sigh before consoling her granddaughter.

"Hyejin'er, you have to listen to your mother, because she is doing what is right for you. For you to be a good figure skater, there are so many things you need to give up on. And eating snacks that will make you fat, is not good for you?."

Then she went ahead to ask the little girl that has stopped crying, as she gestured with her hands, "Do you want to be fat and not be able to do figure skating?."

Kim Hyejin shook her head in a negative affirmation. She didn't want to be fat.

"Good! Then you have to listen to your mother okay?."

"Okay." Kim Hyejin agreed in a soft voice.

"Good girl! Hug grandma." Park Mun-Hee requested in open arms, and Kim Hyejin leaned in slightly to hug her.

Later, Kim Hyejin went to the room to find her mother. So right now, the two, big and small were exchanging glances as they sat on the bed.

Park Hayoon studied her daughter and found out that she wasn't going to ask for Ice-cream anymore, so her mind settled, and her stance became softer.

"Jenny, do you want to be an Olympic figure skater?." Park Hayoon asked her with a serious look on her face.

"Mama. what does it mean?." Kim Hyejin asked with a confused expression on her face.

"I'm asking if you want to perform figure skating at the International levels?."

"Yes." Kim Hyejin nodded in seriousness.

"Then you have atop acting like a child. Although figure skating looks glamorous but becoming an Olympic figure skater is a full-time, year-round commitment. It's also a long-term obligation, typically requiring at least 10 years of intense training. But, if you truly enjoy the sport, your passion can fuel you through difficult times."

"So if you want to be an Olympic figure skater, you have to be serious...you've got to be serious. You need to have it in your head that you know where you want to be, and you've got to put in a lot of effort for that. You need ten years of Intense training, and you have to start now."

"For you to go far, you need to tell yourself, 'I know who I am. I know what I want. I am different from others, then you work towards it. Do you understand what Mama is saying?." Park Hayoon asked, to verify if her daughter was paying attention to her words.

Kim Hyejin nodded obediently in response, as she fixed her gaze on her mother.

"Good! I will show you some videos of the best female figure skaters, and their performance at the Olympics." Park Hayoon said as she took her tablet out, before tuning in to YouTube.

The mother and daughter spent almost two hours in the room as they watched the documentary. And because of the little girl's energy and interest, Park Hayoon didn't mind using the whole subscription she had for the month on YouTube.

Three days later, She came home with an excited look on her face. Her mother welcomed her as she asked with a smile on her face, "Did something good happen?."

"Yes. Hyejin can finally practice ice skating at the rink at xxxxxxxx." Park Hayoon revealed, not trying to hide the happiness written on her face.

"Wow! that's great!." Park Mun-Hee said as she joined her in celebrating the good news.

"Mother, this is indeed good news, but that's not all." Park Hayoon said in suspense.

Not being able to hold back, Park Mun-Hee pestered her for the full details.

"Hyejin can practice there for six months without paying a dime, and the rink also partakes in competitions, so it is a good starting point for Hyejin!." Kim Hyejin revealed as she jumped for joy.

"Wow! This is wonderful!." Park Mun-Hee said as she jumped for joy as well.

"I wanted to say that the rink was a little far from the house, and was about to ask if there was any other rink closer to the house. But with this news, there is absolutely no objection for the location now." Park Mun-Hee said as her face beamed with smiles.

"Yes mother, so Hyejin can start practicing right on time, and we don't have to spend much now." Kim Hyejin said with the cheerfulness of heart.

"But how did you manage to strike this deal?." Park Mun-Hee asked curiously, for she believed that the manager will not agree to rent the rink out for free for six months just like that, something must have prompted the decision.
