Support from her father

Park Hayoon was quiet. The situation was so obvious that it didn't need a reply.

Seeing that she was quiet, Park Ha-Jun shook his head in disappointment.

"Do you know that figure skating is a career that can cost thousands of dollars? Private lessons, Skates and costumes, Rink cost for practice, Travel expenses for competitions and recitals, these are some of the basic costs to consider. Have you thought of the amount of money you would spend on these? Do you even have money?." Park Ha-Jun asked again. This time around, he looked angry, angrier than before.

"Father, I have already considered all these expenses, and I know that if I work hard, I will be able to help Hyejin get through with her career." Park Hayoon spoke with confidence.

Park Hayoon slapped the table with his hand and said while pointing a finger at her "Did you say if you work hard? Do you know how much I spent just to fulfill your brother's figure skating career? My company almost went bankrupt in the process. And now you are saying that you could pull through. What do you think you have that you can pull through with?."

Park Mun-Hee shifted uncomfortably on her seat. She could neither interrupt nor add her opinion. She could only sit and watch the father and daughter. At least, if things were about going out of hand, she could stop it in time.

Park Hayoon was smart enough to keep calm, even though she was pained by her father's harsh words.

"I was a CEO then, I had my own company, but still, it was difficult for me to sponsor my son in what he was doing. But what about you, you are just working part-time, and you think you can get the money to sponsor your child from there? Let me tell you, even if you work there all your life, you still won't be able to sponsor your child. Your brother was lucky that he did well in the sport, and won medals, and got sponsorships. Have you thought of the future at all?"

"Have you thought of if your daughter doesn't get lucky, what would happen? Are you sure you are thinking straight? I advise now, to give up on that career because even if I bring out some money to support Hyejin, It still won't be enough." Park Ha-Jun said as he pushed his glasses that were about slipping off from his nose, back to his eyes.

Right now, Park Hayoon's heart was embittered. She hated her current situation. She started regretting entering into a relationship at such a young age, and even getting pregnant.

Despite all this regret, She doesn't regret the fact that her daughter was born. She has such an adorable and clever daughter, and she would do anything for her, even if she was given a chance to give her daughter a better life in exchange for misery, she would gladly accept the deal.

At this point after making up her mind, Park Hayoon gazed at her father and said in confidence. "Father, Hyejin will be lucky to win sponsorships and go to the Olympics. But before then, I will make sure she doesn't lack anything on her stardom to having a fulfilling successful career."

After saying her piece, Park Hayoon stood up from the chair and left the study room. When she closed the door to the study after coming out from it, she heaved a sigh of relief before going back to her room.

Park Ha-Jun turned to his wife to ask as he raged on "Did that girl just walk out on me?!."

Park Mun-Hee was put in a dilemma. She could only try to pacify her husband as she worried about the outcome of the meeting.

After the meeting was over, and in the following days to come, Park Hayoon avoided her father. She was so good at it, that she didn't see her father for more than a week even though they were living in the same house.

Some days later, after Park Ha-Jun has watched his granddaughter and saw her interest and enthusiasm in the sport (Figure skating), he called her to his side and asked her a few questions about her career.

The little girl's answers softened his stance. So he decided to change his mind and support her.

That same day in the evening, he called his wife and Park Hayoon into his study to reveal his decisions.

Park Hayoon and her mother were surprised that he agreed to bring out some money to help Hyejin in her career.

Park Hayoon was moved to tears by his decision, and not being able to keep her emotions in check, she ran to her father's side to hug him. And this is something that has not happened in years.

Park Ha-Jun was not an emotional person, so he patted her back as he said, "It's alright, wipe your tears."

"Although I will bring out a good sum of money, it still won't be enough, so we have to work hard in other areas and find sponsors for her." Park Ha-Jun added.

Park Mun-Hee and Park Hayoon agreed with what he said.

Park Hayoon made more plans that day. For Kim Hyejin to be an Olympic figure skater, she needs to qualify for the Olympic team. And by that, she must place first, second or third in her country's national championships to qualify.

And to get to the National levels, she has to be among the top three to win in each of these levels (district, regional, sectional, national), before going to the Nationals.

This is not going to be an easy task, but she has to start somewhere. She has to join a figure skating club so she can join in their competitions. This would help her a lot, as it would build her and bring exposure to her.

A few months later, Kim Hyejin could now skate on her own. Now, she didn't need anyone to hold her while skating. If she falls, she will pick herself up.

Park Hayoon was very glad about the improvement. Her daughter was learning.

Kim Hyejin not only learned how to skate on her own, but she was also now good in her ballet classes and AFL activities.

She learned all these at a fast pace.

Her family was proud of her, and they encouraged her more.
