A newfound admiration for her Uncle

Today, Park Hayoon's brother, Park Ji-Hu came back home after he completed his studies outside the country.

Park Ji-Hu was a figure skater at the National level, but he was forced to quit after he had a serious injury from a hard fall. That was the situation that changed his life.

He had to spend almost a year recuperating, And after he recovered, he was discouraged to continue with figure skating, because he was far behind, and he didn't have any hope of winning more medals.

The injury he had forced him to retire before he could make it to the Olympics the second time. So this was how he gave up on his career as a figure skater.

After retiring from his dream career, Park Ji-Hu got a scholarship to get a Bachelor's degree outside his country, but he still practices figure skating in his leisure time.

His one mistake was giving up on his career as a figure skater, but there was no other option than to retire because of the doctor's advice.

His injury wasn't the type to disappear within a year, it was something that would recover as he lived on.

Watching other people train and go for figure skating competitions, he deeply regrets not being amongst them.

But there was no use crying over split milk. The deed has been done.

Today, the Park family was celebrating Ji-Hu's return. After he finished his studies outside, he stayed there to work.

Now finally deciding to come home after the years he spent outside, it was good news worth celebrating.

Park Hayoon's eldest sister, Park Soomin who was married, also came back to join in the celebration.

It was indeed a wonderful day!

"Have you thought of what you want to do now you are back?." Park Ha-Jun asked his son.

"Not yet. But I will help to train Hyejin in figure skating, till she gets a good coach." This was Park Ji-Hu's reply.

Since he was good at figure skating and has a few years of experience, he would be able to coach his niece for the time being.

"Still think of something. Training Hyejin shouldn't hinder you from getting a job. You are a young man, and you need to get a job and get married. No woman will like to marry a man that doesn't have something to do. I will give you some time to adjust, but you better think of what you want to do. You can come to the company, and I will show you around and introduce you to the workers."

"I've heard you, father. There is no rush on that matter." Park Ji-Hu replied with a smile on his face.

He already knew that this is what he will meet when he comes back home, so he was already prepared for it.

Park Hayoon was more than happy that her brother was back to release her of some of the stress. She and her brother learned Ice skating when they were young, but her brother's passion was exceeding that he had to choose figure skating for a career.

His decision then caused a lot of trouble, because their father refused, and none of them wanted to give in to each other's suggestions. After the matter dragged on for a few years, their father finally allowed him to pursue his dreams.

Now that her brother was back to help her out, the burden on her shoulders has been relieved to a considerable amount. Now, she would have time for herself, meet up with friends, and do some other things.

A week after Park Ji-Hu came back home, he started coaching Kim Hyejin on Ice skating. There was a competition that would be coming up in six months in the Ice rink, so she needed to be prepared for it.

At the Ice rink, Kim Hyejin gasped in surprise as she watched her Uncle do some incredible moves. So she stared at him with her mouth agape. "Wow! Uncle, you are so good at this." She said to him as she gave him a thumbs up.

"Better than your mother?." Park Ji-Hu asked with a smirk on his face.

"Yes, you are so much better than Mama." Kim Hyejin replied innocently.

Park Ji-Hu skated to her side and said, "Since you complimented me, I will show you one more move".

Since he and Hyejin were the only ones on the rink by this time, he had the opportunity to free-skate. So he skated away from her and performed the layback Ina Bauer move. Immediately after he exited that position, he executed a double axel jump.

His movements were sharp and clean!

"Wow! Uncle how did you do that?." Kim Hyejin asked with incredible excitement on her face.

Park JI-Hu skated towards her before squatting and holding her arms. "Did you like that move?."

Kim Hyejin nodded in response.

"Do you want to be able to do it soon?." Park Ji-Hu asked as he looked into her eyes.

"Yes. I want to do it!." Kim Hyejin said in reply, her tune filled with vigor.

"Good. Then you have to pay attention during our sections, by watching my movements. Don't cram any move with your head, know it with your body (muscle movements).

This is what Park Ji-Hu is trying to tell her, 'A successful figure skater doesn't try to process every movement and technique mentally, but instead relies on muscle memory and instinct'.

After the sections that day, Kim Hyejin was beaming with smiles. She felt that her Uncle was so good at figure skating, and so much better than her mother.

She enjoyed training with him because he was a professional, and there was no dull moment with him.

When Kim Hyejin got home, she talked about her Uncle's moves at the rink that day, and she kept praising him.

"Seems like she has developed a newfound admiration for you." Park Mun-Hee said to her son with a beautiful smile on her face.

"Do you prefer your uncle to me now?." Park Hayoon asked the little girl that looked so happy.

Kim Hyejin glanced at her Uncle, and then back at her mother before nodding her head in reply. She was truly so innocent.

"Naughty girl." Park Hayoon said as she gently pinched her cheeks.
