Chapter 78 Blinding Light

Thanos stood, facing against Arthur, who was in a serious mood. He could feel the space was trembling between their confrontation as the time tangled around them.

" I knew this would be our last fight. Can you defeat me?"

Thanos asked while expecting affirmation from him. He knew Arthur wouldn't give up, no matter how hard he tried to convince. He knew Arthur was a true hero that adhered to justice more than anyone.

Arthur smiled when he saw Thanos's complicated face. He could tell what he was thinking and trying to accomplish, but he couldn't agree with him. He wasn't willing to sacrifice half of the universe for the rest. Although he was furious, he wanted to smile for the last time.

Everyone was dazed by his soft smile. They understood he accepted his fate, yet he was fighting for all living beings even though he could survive.

" Supernova explosion!"

A blinding light emerged from the nothingness as it engulfed both of them. The immense heat and power of destruction cracked the space and bent the time. However, this wasn't the end. Thanos turned the destruction of the star to bubbles as he used soul gem to destroy his power.

" Gravity expulsion! Black hole!"

Arthur pushed the energy to the hole and distorted it into nothing. He proceeded to use his grand spells and chained him while freezing him in the space. The space was frozen with time as Thanos couldn't move at all despite his effort to free himself. Arthur closed his palms together to create a white hole and a black hole. He put them next to Thanos as they shredded him.

" It is useless. I have cast time on myself like you. You will never be able to kill me. Just give up, Arthur."

Thanos emerged from the void. He looked at Arthur with indifference as he tried to convince him to stop, but he didn't stop at all.

" Then I will cut the time and space."

Arthur said, cutting the space and time with his power. He could feel his energy was draining quickly, since it was basically impossible to do so. He did some impossible for the sake of the world.

Thanos looked at the red scar on his chest. He couldn't believe in his eyes since only celestials were able to ignore time and space along with 5 gods.

" You did something unprecedented and that will be end for you, Arthur. If you have lived longer, your talent would have destroyed this planet because they are selfish beings."

Thanos spoke, depicting Celestials as tyrants. Logically, he was right about the celestials. They never truly bothered about justice or balance like them.

The heavy beam of the strongest existences in the universe hit Arthur in the chest. Arthur's armor disintegrated into nothing as he fell to Earth. Thanos looked at the screen and sighed.

" Your last defender has been fallen. Maybe this is so-called fate."

With a single snap, the universe had lost its color. The torrent of energy covered every inch of the universe as it took away the half of living beings to oblivion where nothing existed.

Back on Earth.

Arthur had landed on the ground while groaning. He looked at the blue sky and thought about his failure.

" No, not yet. At least they can figure out something. I will use my last remaining strength to protect them."

Arthur raised his hand and wrote a spell on the air. The grand spell covered Eden, while the heroes looked at the sky with puzzlement. They couldn't understand what was going, as the giant spell circles were appearing in the air. The energy wave hit the barrier, but it was deflected into somewhere and that direction was Arthur's direction. He single-handedly took the entire burden on himself while leaving the future in the hands of the heroes. He believed they would protect the world in his absence.

" Huh, I couldn't see my family in the end. Edward must have made my favorite steak today. I was going to drink my 97 Bordeaux today."

Arthur said, closing his eyes with pain. He could hear the screams of his allies near him, but it was too late. His body turned into ashes as he scattered into nothing.
