Chapter 146 Help me

" Someone help me!"

Robert wandered in ruined fields, looking at the place with horror in his eyes. The sight of burning buildings and nothing but corpses entered his eyes and he didn't know what to do.

" What have I done?"

He crouched down to the ground, believing he was the cause of this destruction and he was the end of all.

" Is there anyone here?"

Suddenly he heard a shout from a woman. He threw away the thoughts inside his head, running toward the direction where he heard the shout.

" Are you here?"

He looked around to find a silhouette in this ruins and he found Jean who was struggling to get up from the rumbles.

He extended his hand toward her, pulling her out from rumbles as he felt calm for the first time. The lonely feeling inside his heart immediately vanished when he saw her and felt grateful that someone was still alive.

" Where are we? My name is Robert and I am sorry for attacking you because I was told you were an enemy."

Robert recalled the moment when he attacked them because he had no choice but to do it. The government wasn't pleased with them attacking Stryker, so they decided to send some warning but unfortunately that went out of spiral when Xavier freed Void from his shackles.

" Thank you, my name is Jean Grey. I am here to save you and escape from here. You see we are currently inside your consciousness and we are trapped here by your other personality."

Jean briefly explained the situation to Robert who didn't know what was happening outside his mind. He even didn't know he was trying to kill everyone, including nonmutants who were trying to stop his rampage.

" I see. So, how do we get outside from here if he imprisoned me here?"

Robert wondered if it was possible to leave this place since this place seemed to be as big as the real world and he couldn't spot anything that would help them. Furthermore, he felt pain, so death was out of option.

" We need to find the exit. There must be some kind of catalyst that would push out from here, but we might have to face several issues since he could also sense us."

The duo journeyed through the wasteland, looking for the door that would lead to their freedom. However, the mind space of Robert was vast compared to others due to his unique background and feelings.

The negative thoughts in his mind created this endless field that went beyond normal humans and he didn't know that.

" This!"

Robert halted his movements when he saw the ruined house. His hands trembled for unknown reasons, afraid of getting close to the house.

" Robert? What is wrong?"

Jean asked him with confusion, guessing this house might be related to his trauma since this house was relatively special compared to other places.

" This is my home or it used to be."

Robert walked into the house, looking around with nostalgia in his eyes. The old dusty furniture and pictures of his parents welcomed him in the hall. He remembered his parents who were the object of his love before he spiraled out of control.

He recalled their disappointed faces when they saw him in a rehabilitation center as they refused to accept him. The sheer agony of being rejected made his life difficult and he fell into deep depression.

There was no one to hold him and he felt dark, lonely, afraid. The anxiety blurred his consciousness and he felt a craving for substance usage. Perhaps by the string of fate, he used that accursed item which made his life even worse if it wasn't the help of the government.

He saw bizarre things and illusions, and he felt terrible like something that was invisible, trying to kill him.

" Huu* I know where the exit is."

Robert took a deep breath to calm down, slowly making his way upward to his room. The walls around them slowly corroded down as they reached his room.

The door was shining with gentle warm light unlike other areas and he felt this was it.

" Miss Grey, do you know why I refused to acknowledge my mistakes? Perhaps I was afraid. I am a loser who gave up for my pleasure, but I really hope I will change that because I found another reason to live."

Robert turned his head and smiled brightly while turning the doorknob.
