In this world, Magic can be a very complicated thing.
Not because of its complexity but simply because only a very few people are studying them for real. Perhaps that's also the reason why there are plenty of times in history where people messed up really badly due to their ignorance.
At least that's the case in Orario.
This city was known as the center of the world but it's very sad to say that the studies of magic here wasn't that advanced. It's very lacking in many aspects.
Magic doesn't have to be self-made to be compatible, it "only" has to be compatible.
That was Bell's final conclusion based on the experiments he did on his [ GRIMOIRE ]. He found out that the root of problem doesn't lie on this magic but to his body instead.
Deities give their blessings to their children through the form of Falna. This will unlocked their children's potential making them capable of doing things even beyond imaginations.
Not only will it strengthen their bodies, it also opens up plenty more rooms for possible growth.
It's because Falna gets rid of all the obstruction that blocks a person from reaching his/her full potential.
But that was all.
Aside from opening all the gates, Falna does nothing more than that. It will still be up to the person itself whether he/she will get stronger or not. Whether he/she has enough courage, determination and perseverance to reach higher levels will be the ending factor.
" Damn it... Do I really have to experience that hell inside me? "
Bell knows how to fix that problem of incompatibility. But the consequence is that, he has to endure an insane amount of pain in order to do that. Which he didn't like to do, of course-----if he has a better choice.
But sadly, he didn't. He lacks resources to be picky.
The power of his magic attacks can still be improve by many folds. And although Bell can manipulate the mana on his own, it was very inconvenient and there's a lot of it being wasted due to his inexperience.
Also, it's a very tiring thing to do which makes it unsuitable for long term battles.
The best option for him right now was to fixed the problem at its root, and that was.... his Falna itself and the circuits inside his body.
Everyone has an invisible outlets or circuits inside their body. That circuits was where the Mana flows onto, allowing them to use magic freely.
But, these circuits varies in every person. It's an innate factor that is almost impossible to change nor improve.
If not for the gods and goddesses arrival here in Gekai, it will be close to impossible for almost all races-------aside from the Elves to use magic at all because the circuits inside their bodies are simply too thin and was very unstable.
Bell's method was to forcefully widen or thicken those circuits. It can be done by injecting Mana directly in these delicate passages.
This method was simple and very straight forward approach but.... It comes with a very huge risk.
Not only was this method extremely dangerous thing to do, but also... very cruel and gruesome.
Just one wrong move and it will be deadly.
This technique also has a very dark history behind it. The very product of human greed and desire to go beyond their limits and surpassed the gods fuels the creation of this technique.
Countless of lives was lost and mountains of corpses turned to dust. Only after a millennia of inhumane experimentation did their efforts finally brought them desirable results.
Bell knows that he cannot be choosy now. Orario will be destroyed in six months if he will not do anything. It's not like he really care about it though since he can simply runaway before that happens if he wanted to.
But that will be very pathetic and also, it will bring a lot of problems to him if he will lose his easy access to the dungeon.
That's the last thing Bell would want to happen.
He has to get stronger, as fast as he can. It's not for Orario but for himself and for all the few people he cherish or will cherish in the future.
And for that, risking his life and enduring hellish amount of pain is only a small price to pay.
With that thought in mind, Bell finally steeled himself inside. He began clearing a small space inside the basement and sat down cross-legged.
" Good thing that Goddess wasn't here to see what will happen next. "
Bell slowly closed his eyes. With a few deep breaths, he finally started.

From day to night, a whirlwind of activity consumed Guild Headquarters.
Their staff members were constantly running up and down the hallways, while pretty receptionists tends to the adventures coming in and out of the pantheon.
They are all busy. The upcoming Monsterphilia brought them tons of paper works to deal with.
After all, bringing monsters to the surface wasn't a joke. They have to make sure that everything was in place and not a single accidents will happen. The Ganesha familia even prepared a banquet for gods just to make sure he will get their approval.
Misha was unsure on what to do.
Her coworker and friend, Eina was again in such low spirits today. She has been like this for almost a week now and Misha had begun to question herself what had probably happened.
She tried asking her before but Eina didn't tell her anything.
" Erm.... Eina… "
She looked toward her half-elf friend. She was sitting at her desk, head bent over her work. Her bangs hid a face devoid of its normal brightness, while the hand that moved the feather pen shook as if struggling to endure something.
Unable to stand the sight of Eina in this condition any longer, Misha approached her, while the other staff looked on.
" Hey, Eina.. What's wrong with you? " Misha said, watching her sadly.
" .... He didn't.. "
" He didn't..... what? "
Misha was unable to make out the faint whisper of the half-elf.
" He didn't come again today. "
The half-elf looked outside through the window and saw that the sun was about to complete set. Her beautiful face was full of anger.
" Why? What's wrong with him? Why hasn't he come to see me? Does he not know that I'm worried?? "
"....."
" Yes we did have some misunderstandings last time. I did yelled at him and I b-bi.... I was miserable about it but... "
Eina was too embarrassed to say that she'd bitten Bell out loud. That might cause a lot of misunderstanding!
But the fact that Bell hasn't showed himself for a whole week now made her feel very wronged.
" It's weird, isn't it? Totally weird. What does he think I am?! "
" E-Eina that... "
" And to think I'd never been this worried for a guy before. "
The way she's acting right now was similar to a woman who was wronged by her lover.
Her emerald eyes opened wide behind her glasses and her cheeks flushed scarlet hue.
Eina vented all the indignation and dissatisfaction that had been building up inside her.
" Oh, by the way Eina. "
At this moment, a chienthrope person was passing by and called out to Eina. He was their section chief here in HQ.
" I heard that the adventurer you are assigned to was brought back to the surface while unconscious. He seemed to be severely wounded too according to the reports. Is he okay now? "
"...."
" Eina? "
Eina was stunned. She can't believe what she just heard and for a moment. Then suddenly, she become worried. An image of the white haired boy instantly appeared inside her mind.
The chienthrope person called out again but she ignored him.
" Section Chief, I'm going to see him! "
Eina violently leaped up from her chair.
" !? "
Everyone reacted with a start. None of them had expected such strong response from the normally very sociable elf.
" Eina, wait! "
Misha called out, from behind but all she could do was watch as the talented receptionist stormed out.
Driven by her emotions, Eina slung a pouch containing patrol supplies over her shoulder. Then she cut across the lobby, her leather shoes slapping the floor.
The startled townspeople outside the pantheon opened a path for her, and a moment later, she was out on the street.
" Bell... Please be okay.. "
*
Back to the abandoned church.
" Urg.... I'm still..... alive right? "
Bell was lying on the floor weakly, like a broken corpse. The state he's in right now is similar to a person who had been stabbed to death in horror movies.
His body, from top to bottom was covered with blood, his own blood. The veins in every part of him are still bulging, his skin looks very pale.
" That was even more difficult than fighting a horde of Minotaurs.... "
* Knock *
* Knock *
" Hmm?? "
Bell unsteadily rose up to his feet when he heard someone knocking outside.
Did the Goddess came back?
Dragging his wounded body with him, Bell began scaling the stairs to see who it was that had come this time.
" Coming! "
He grabbed the artificial handle of the door and with all his remaining strength, Bell opened the door.
" Did you forget something Godde-..... "
" EEEEEEEKKK!!!!! "
